Cost-effective software

Pros

Athena is a great EHR software, which is not only user-friendly but also saves time for documentation and billing process. It is also extremely useful to get all patient information including medical history, labs and medication chart in front of you in minutes. It is a great software to use and cost-effective compared to other EHR software.

Cons

Athena requires basic computer skills to navigate through the different tabs and initially took us some time to understand it. They should provide more details to help understand how to make it work easily. I believe it can take anyone a week or two to understand how to navigate it.

Simple yet effective

Pros

Athena is an easy to use EHR system that my older co-workers who were not computer-savvy were able to use easily. Our patients loved using the patient portal and it made our jobs so much easier. It has everything from patient labs to office notes on one page which makes it really useful.

Cons

Athena has created multiple billing issues as well as problems with the system crashing after updates. The latter needs to be fixed as soon as possible as it is causing a lot of issues in our practice. I have also noticed that some patient information was lost after updates as well.

Would not recommend to my worst enemy

Pros

Honestly we chose Athena because of the salesperson but they failed to deliver on their promises.

Cons

Athena is considered the most difficult EHR to use lacking user-friendliness and the training provided was inadequate.

athenahealth review

Pros

The mobile feature was excellent at the time but as standards changed we found that we no longer needed such a system. While there are many impressive features they come at a cost.

Cons

The cost of using Athena for the population we served was quite high. We had around 300 users and it became a significant expense. While we used the software for about a year we eventually no longer needed the mobile portion which made the software even more expensive for us.

Athena is one of the best But Support and Training Isn't

Pros

The new modern interface is a significant improvement compared to what we used before. Once a workflow is established navigation becomes easy.

Cons

The support provided by Athena is not satisfactory. I still have unresolved tickets from several months ago without any resolution. Occasionally I come across a support representative who can address my issue during the first call but it's not consistent. The training provided is below par as well. In my previous EMR system we had a month-long training period with dedicated trainers. However Athena only sent a few people to train the superusers a couple of weeks in advance. They sent a few more trainers the week before (3) the week of (8) and the week after (3) implementation. Most of these trainers don't have answers beyond the training materials and need to get back to you for any additional questions.

Not Available for Android - iPhones only!??

Pros

I was thrilled when my co-worker showed me that I could access Athena on my mobile device. It meant I didn't have to rely on my laptop to check labs or follow up on my day off.

Cons

I made numerous attempts to log in to Athena on my phone but was unsuccessful. Unfortunately it is not supported by my browser. Despite seeing their advertising about the greatness of Athena Clinicals I couldn't understand why I couldn't make it work for me. I reached out to Athena's customer support only to hear the disappointing news that their service is only compatible with iPhones. It's puzzling how in 3018 a company would limit their mobile support to a single brand of phone. We use Athena EHR on Windows-based computers in our office so it doesn't require Macs to operate. Why restrict their mobile support to iPhones? The tech support advised me to make a suggestion and I encourage others who don't use iPhones to do the same.

Extraordinary Service. Customer support was fantastic for a big organization like ours.

Pros

Patient experience and my internal peace of mind mean the most to me. The best part of Athena is that the healthcare aspect is handled easily and in a systematic way. I don’t have to worry about anything other than delivering the best possible care to my patients.

Cons

I haven’t experienced any issues with the program so far. With the incredible software design, you can’t help but like everything about it.

Athena Health EMR

Pros

Learning is relatively easy with online manuals and the customer support representatives are fantastic!

Cons

The lack of paper manuals is a downside but the detailed reports are commendable. However finding help on the internal support can be challenging at times.

Very Disappointed with this EHR and their billing.

Pros

Being an electronic record is definitely a pro and I struggle to think of any other pros.

Cons

The support provided is severely lacking. Contacting someone requires navigating through multiple questions and drop-down boxes followed by an access code. Often the person you speak to is unable to help and needs to consult someone else leaving you on hold.

Athena EHR

Pros

I used it daily and found it easy to navigate especially for an orthopedic practice. Patient information forms and documents were well-organized. Faxing was also straightforward.

Cons

Updates can occasionally cause adjustment issues and slow down operations. However customer service has been helpful in resolving these issues.

The software for me was easy to learn.

Pros

I appreciated the automatic faxing of encounter notes to PCPs and the ease of faxing any document.

Cons

It is inconvenient to navigate in and out of the patient's folder to find specific information like authorizations and referrals. Additionally filing a document requires multiple steps which can be time-consuming.

This review is specific to the AthenaNet iPhone app... which is total and complete garbage. I would rate it on the App store like one typically does for apps but Athena does not post this app on the app store... probably because they don't want anyone t

Pros

It conveniently fits in your pocket. The icon is a charming purple cloud with an inaccurate representation of an EKG tracing.

Cons

The software is unreliable and hindered by login issues repeatedly displaying the message "Your session has expired. Please log in." Even after attempting troubleshooting steps the problem persists.

EHR

Pros

Tracking patient communication and easily routing faxes are valuable features. It's also helpful to be able to access previous patient records when needed.

Cons

Some functions require too many clicks entering new patient information can be time-consuming and viewing schedules is challenging. Returning to a previous screen often redirects to the main screen causing inconvenience.

THEY HOLD YOUR MONEY - NOT THE BEST

Pros

Many organizations recognize this software and it seamlessly accepts laboratory information. It is also easily accessible from multiple locations.

Cons

The way financial transactions are handled is discomforting. Doctors are responsible for manually releasing funds earned which is not a common practice with other software. Having funds directly deposited into the provider's account would be preferable.

Worst EMR Athena is a scam

Pros

The cons outweigh any potential pros. Do thorough research as they are dishonest and may sell you an EMR that doesn't exist.

Cons

The company's performance is poor failing to honor the business contract and lacking support. Office staff has had to take matters into their own hands due to the incompetence of Athena's support team. Billing support is nonexistent.

user friendly

Pros

Claims can be caught and corrected prior to leaving the system. It is user-friendly and easy to navigate with all aspects of the patient chart conveniently located on the same page.

Cons

While Athena representatives attempt to work denials the process ultimately falls on the users and disputes are not fully resolved. It becomes troublesome when Athena identifies something as against insurance policy yet there are paid claims that require overrides.

There are better products for less money. Paper charts are still better than Athena.

Pros

You can create order sets (doctor's orders) that include accurate diagnoses labs X-rays and prescriptions saving time and improving efficiency. Controlled medications can also be e-prescribed with the help of your iPhone.

Cons

The software is excessively expensive requiring additional billing services or relying on Athena as the biller which incurs significant costs. The terminology used in the software leans more towards the computer world than the medical field. Considering a replacement for Athena is currently underway.

Its a great product that every collections agency should use.

Pros

The training modules make it easy to use during live sessions. When I used Athena live I felt confident in assisting my customers and patients.

Cons

Payment entry is cumbersome as there are no options to checkbox amounts. Each payment must be manually entered which can be challenging in a fast-paced environment.
