“BestNOTes”
Pros
It is hard to pinpoint my favorite feature of this product because there are so many ways it can be used by different providers and practices. If I had to choose, I did highlight the "notes" system.
Cons
As a third-party biller using an EMR/EHR system, its a plus to have reporting and easy navigation options. Unfortunately, BestNotes does not offer that. While BestNotes makes it easy for providers to chart and customize every field to fit their practice, it does not address the billing aspect of the practice.

“EMR to stay productive, efficient and compliant”
Pros
What I like most about BestNotes? It could be the intuitive and easy-to-use layout, the customizable documentation, the robust reporting or the regular updates to maintain compliance with regulatory agencies. Or maybe it is the fact that knowledgeable help is always immediately available if I have any questions.
Cons
I did like to see more options for template-wide customization, such as removing components that are not relevant to our field, allowing more customization for individual users and creating a saved/most used field for documents, ITP data, diagnosis, etc. We are using one software platform for four different departments within our company, so being able to customize workflows by department and user would be very beneficial.

“Fairly easy to use with some guidance”
Pros
I really like the ease of communication between providers, the ability to insert pre-formed notes and the option to copy previous notes into current ones.
Cons
Its not very user-friendly or intuitive without some guidance. Labs and medical information are not readily accessible and require clicking through several options.

“Good electronic health record!”
Pros
I used this software while working at an outpatient mental health facility, and the team appreciated the detailed information it allowed. It offers many functions related to patient care.
Cons
The user interface looks a bit dated and is not as visually appealing as other programs. However, this is a minor issue compared to the positive aspects of its functional purpose.

“Good Value for the money”
Pros
The software has numerous features and printing is well executed when needed. Overall, it is a good system for individual notes.
Cons
Documenting groups could be a bit smoother and the interface could use an update. Overall, though, nothing too negative.

“BestNotes Support Review”
Pros
BestNotes has a supportive team that is easy to contact. Any software issues are resolved quickly and the software is reliable with no downtime. If there is a reporting request or a company-specific function needed, the BestNotes team is excellent at finding the best solution for the organization.
Cons
I did like to see more systematic controls to reduce the manual reconciliation time between the clinical and billing modules (Program to Register functions).

“Great Product”
Pros
BestNotes helps my organization keep client records organized and manageable. I mainly use the Reports feature, which is very useful for pulling various data for the organization. The ability to access client census data across the organization with just a click is a huge time-saver!
Cons
BestNotes is very easy to use. I do not have any complaints to mention at this time.

“Best Customer Service and Easy to Use”
Pros
After testing several EHR free trial offers, BestNotes offered the best price for my smaller business and was the most responsive, following up in a timely and professional manner. I appreciate how customizable and flexible the software is; any form we use can be incorporated into the system. The standout feature, though, is the customer service. I felt overwhelmed and anxious about switching systems, but customer support team was very patient and thoroughly explained everything I needed to know, never rushing or minimizing my concerns. The software also organizes our client files more thoroughly and efficiently.
Cons
I really like that BestNotes handles billing and invoices but I wish I could submit claims directly through it.

“BestNotes”
Pros
The BestNotes team is fantastic and the software is very flexible. During our implementation, we had many requests for both form and function and the BestNotes staff was very accommodating. The dashboard is easy to navigate and there are features within the system that we can modify ourselves which allows for ongoing and instant updates.
Cons
Unfortunately, BestNotes cannot handle everything. For example, it won't track dates without specific user intervention.

“Excellent CRM”
Pros
I think the CRM functions of this software are fantastic. We operate a multi-facility drug and alcohol treatment center and BestNotes excellently meets the needs for the various levels of complexity required for each clients chart based on their level of care. The note templates are highly customizable and the reporting functions have been a huge asset for our chart audits.
Cons
Honestly, our biggest issues with BestNotes are related to its integration with other software and the eMAR. While BestNotes works well as a CRM, using DrFirst for ePrescribe disrupts some of its functionality. The lab integration with HalfPenny has not been ideal either. Although the eMAR is useful, its ability to audit and track medication changes is still quite limited.

“EHR Review”
Pros
I really like that the interface is user-friendly and packed with features that are specifically useful in my field. I also like that many fields can be pulled from other documents, which reduces human error and enhances compliance. Additionally, I find it easy to create and modify my own documents as needed.
Cons
There are a few features missing that would be helpful but the team is always able to work through other options with me.

“Best EMR System I Have Ever Used”
Pros
The software is very much reliable and maintenance times never affect our ability to treat clients. I also value that we can have multiple users at a fixed price. The customer service experience with BestNotes has always been excellent!

“You Get What You Pay For”
Pros
The price for this EHR is outstanding and BestNotes has great potential. I also like the ability to add my own customized forms. The scripted treatment plan goals are better than most because they are measurable, although BestNotes did take some shortcuts by repeating the same goals frequently.
Cons
Since 2016, many users have noted that BestNotes looks like it's from the 1900s, with its outdated symbols like a floppy disk. The system lacks consistency in font sizes across pages and some templates contain typos. Minor clients needing parental signature consent forms face overly complex procedures. The system uses confusing acronyms of its own making. Many videos and self-help guides are outdated or irrelevant. Overall, it's clunky, severely outdated, has an unattractive interface and isn't intuitive. It's not web-based, so you need to download the software onto your computer. The client portal is nearly useless since clients cannot self-schedule or pay bills there and you have to use a third party for billing, which increases costs. Unfortunately, while the staff are friendly, they can come across as condescending if you struggle to navigate the confusing system that BestNotes has normalized.

“Choosing Athena for Surgery Centers is not a good option.”
Pros
Athena has a feature where it can generate a medication list using the patient's pharmacy purchase history. This is helpful when the patient is unable to recall their medications. However if a medication is added to the list that is not already there it becomes an order that the provider must approve. This can cause issues when the provider does not want to sign off on the order. The patient history module is customizable to fit the organization's requirements.
Cons
It seems that Athena needs to work on its support for surgery centers. Despite being promised improvement opportunities in 2017 nothing was done and the team meant to aid me was disbanded. In addition the list of prior surgeries is challenging to use and we often have to choose the closest procedure available and add a note to ensure clarity.
