Great experience

Pros

It is easy to customize and change according to the relevant departments within the hospital. With the help of Cerner, I have been able to complete daily work without tiring myself with charting patients. It has free text, drop downs and multiple forms for entering data which suits physicians. Life with this software has become easier.

Cons

With good software, there comes a flaw. With Cerner, the issue is that there is no auto-save Feature in charting. There should be at least a certain amount of time limit or window where amendments could be altered to former charting. I really wish this is looked into as soon as possible.

Connects simplely across our facility

Pros

It connects with all the other software across our entire healthcare facility. I find it user-friendly, though there's room for improvement. I feel it's safe to use since it locks after periods of inactivity.

Cons

I wish the system could be accessed from a mobile phone. These days managers spend more time in meetings than at their desks and being able to check department status remotely would be really helpful. If the app allowed cellphone access, that would be a major improvement to consider. I also think a live feed showing conditions in critical areas such as surgery, eR, waiting rooms, maternity, etc. and integration with security cameras would be extremely useful.

Smooth nurse's note but poor integration

Pros

For me, the nurse's note is easy to use and flows smoothly, allowing me to move through it quickly and complete documentation without wasting time during my shift.

Cons

I am frustrated that the nurses note doesn't communicate with other parts of the system as it fails to integrate with care plans or physician orders. So I have to leave the note and go elsewhere to update a care plan or enter a new order.

Feature-packed tool

Pros

I have found it packed with features and I can access a huge number of records quickly when I need them.

Cons

In my experience, it has a lot of awkward quirks and isn't very user-friendly, so I definitely needed to take training classes to get comfortable.

user-friendly tool without formal training

Pros

It is pretty user friendly. As I did not receive any formal training but was able to pick things up immediately.

Cons

I feel it's somewhat sluggish and doesn't respond as quickly as I'd expect from modern software.

very detailed and unified platform

Pros

There's an incredible level of detail you can enter and review in this system which I find really valuable. Because every caregiver logs into the same platform, all of that information is accessible in one place. I especially like being able to see when physical therapy has walked my patients and how they tolerated it if I cannot get hold of the PT and also to check how respiratory treatments went. That visibility makes it much easier for me to stay current with how the whole care team is assessing the patient when a face-to-face update isn't possible.

Cons

It did take me a while to learn all of the skills required to use it and to get comfortable with the layout but that's largely because it offers so many features. I see this as a natural trade-off given its breadth of functionality.

Still the best after four years

Pros

After using Cerner PowerChart for more than four years, I still believe it is the best medical software out there. I find the interface user friendly and really easy to get around. Unlike lots of other systems, I do not have to click through a million boxes to finish a basic task which saves me time and frustration.

Cons

I genuinely like this program and it's hard for me to point out major flaws. every so often, though, clicking the app icon won't launch it and at times while I am working it will freeze, forcing me to shut it down and start it up again.

Pros

I really appreciate being able to run multiple different applications at once without needing to keep track of and enter several different passwords.

Cons

Since I am still new to this system, everything is great at this point.

3.0

Versatile but confusing and repetitive

Pros

I have found Cerner to be quite versatile, letting me customize the platform to manage my health records in a way that fits my workflow.

Cons

For me, the system feels overly repetitive and ends up wasting time and I often struggle to find specific documentation topics as it is confusing for someone inexperienced and can even frustrate a seasoned user.

5.0

Easiest way to find customer information

Pros

In a healthcare setting as big as ours there are a lot of patients. The system we needed had to have the capacity to hold lots of data which Cerner does and allow us to customize search queries to pull-out patient files which is something that a lot of vendors did not offer but Cerner does. This functionality has made my work life much easier.

Cons

The information about the patients is always updated on the software, but it seems this software never saves it correctly. For instance, if I want to locate any information on someone, it is not easy to find properly. I think this software needs us to go through more training in order to understand it.

Cerner

Pros

I like the software a lot. As I have used many EHR systems before and comparing all of them I would always select Powerchart. The software makes sense and it is very detailed, easy to navigate, up to date, and easy to learn and use as well.

Cons

There are no cons to mention. I really like the product and hope that my hospital never switches it.

Great remote access, awkward search

Pros

I like that I can pull up the information I need from anywhere, since remote access works well. The menu bars make it simple to hop between different information categories and I can customize features to fit my workflow, although that flexibility usually requires paying extra.

Cons

Finding specific items in medical records can be frustrating as searching isn't user friendly. Also uneven training among users means navigation becomes awkward at times which leads to incomplete charting from my experience.

printing is impossible

Pros

I appreciate how clean and efficient the scheduling book is for our hospital patients and I can easily pull up past orders and appointments to help me provide better care for them.

Cons

We really struggle because it's nearly impossible to print out most information. Since we aren't operating in a paperless environment, we rely on printed orders to carry out our duties. Right now we cannot simply uncancel or print orders that were originally correct. instead we're forced to create entirely new orders which causes frequent cancellations and rescheduling every single day. I ought to be able to reorder or print canceled items directly from the offices, because this ongoing issue is a massive pain and creates unnecessary extra work for our team.

Clean layout and quick search

Pros

I really like how cleanly the pages are laid out. Like there's no overwhelming clutter on the homepage and I can quickly and effortlessly pull up patient records using the search function whenever I need them.

Cons

Personally, I appreciate that the layout is so simple and free of clutter on the homepage and I regularly find patient files quickly through the search tool without wasting time which helps during busy shifts.

Cerner Powerchart

Pros

It has all the features that are necessary for any practice and does almost everything. The system is pretty decent to put it in a good way and is great for smaller hospitals or clinics or practices.

Cons

It is not a great product for larger hospitals or practices, as it nor capable of handling large amounts of data at the same time. The screen layout needs to be improved as well, and they should also mention that this is only for smaller practices, so that we do not waste a lot of our time trying to adjust with this system and then having to look for something else which handles large data.

It is okay!

Pros

The only good thing about this system is that it has a lot of tabs and charts, with which you can make different charts and have many views. It is not the best, but it is just okay. The product can and needs to improve a lot.

Cons

You might think that it is easy, and anyone can use it but that’s wrong. This product is not the easiest to use. The system often slows down, which makes you quite frustrated about your work and all. This system needs to be customized accordingly and needs to improve a lot just to make this system more effective and better.

Quick and perfect for daily tasks

Pros

I am able to quickly spot icons and move around the system without much issue. Logging in is easy too and I can easily add patients, open and use their charts, review labs and document things on Cerner. Finding recent lab results is simple, I can read the history and physical and pull up phone numbers without trouble. Overall I have had a generally positive experience and when I compare it to epic, I find myself preferring Cerner.

Cons

There's not much that bothers me. Occasionally the system feels repetitive because I end up entering the same details in multiple places. The tasks can be redundant and take extra time to finish the highlighted sections.

Incredibly thorough but time-consuming

Pros

I found it very thorough. This EHR leaves out absolutely nothing.

Cons

For me, documenting as a medic in Cerner felt incredibly time consuming. I often spent 45 minutes to an hour completing notes for a single patient and I found it nearly impossible to finish every required item when working in the fast pace of the eR.

Patient tracking is amazing.

Pros

With the help of this software, now I am able to organize everything in an order and can also make sure that all radiology orders are right. Patient tracking and patient orders have never been this easy before. This product is literally amazing.

Cons

When I started using this product, finding patient reports and documents was not easy at all, at least for me. But, after quite some training I kind of learn how things worked in this system and it became pretty easy for me to do my job.
