“User-friendly layout for easy finding”
Pros
I really like Gerber's user friendly layout and that I can pull up the same details from multiple places within the system which makes navigating and finding information much easier for me.
Cons
One frustrating limitation is that I am restricted to opening only two patient charts at a time and that slows me down when I need to view or compare several records at once.

“deeply disappointing experience”
Pros
I am really disappointed as it is just poor, poor, poor.
Cons
I am dealing with so many issues I cannot name them all. The interface feels cluttered and hard to follow. Writing a clinic note now takes me around five to seven minutes which is about twice as long as it used to.

“easy to navigate for new users”
Pros
I can use it to build a comprehensive medical picture of my patients and I find it fairly easy to navigate even without prior EMR experience.
Cons
For me, it's as clunky as other Cerner offerings as the layout feels disorganized and not very user-friendly, so I think the interface needs significant improvement.

“provides the best nutrition care templates”
Pros
During my internship I worked with Cerner while practicing clinical dietetics and I was set up as an authorized user because I was seeing patients and putting together their nutrition care plans. I liked the nutrition care process documentation template as it was user friendly and mostly involved clicking through predefined options rather than typing everything out. What I especially liked was that the patient's history and other data get pulled into the notes automatically, so I didn't have to enter much information manually which saved a lot of time.
Cons
Although the interface is pretty user friendly and you do save time by selecting options instead of typing everything, I find it can feel somewhat rigid and doesn't allow much free-form entry when you want to document things more flexibly.

“Sorts notes cleanly but too many clicks”
Pros
I appreciate how the platform lets me sort notes cleanly between physician entries and other staff, so I can quickly tell who wrote each note.
Cons
Personally, I get frustrated by how many clicks are required as the features that are supposed to align note-taking just turn into endless clicking. The macros feel tedious to deal with and I wish it were simpler to type free-text notes. Also, placing routine orders like normal saline takes far more steps and time than it ought to.

“easy to use but after a significant curve”
Pros
For me, this EMR ultimately proved relatively easy to use and features a pleasant interface but I did have to push through a significant learning curve first!
Cons
I often find placing orders to be really awkward and I feel the search function could definitely be made more reliable and easier to use.

“User-friendly with time-saving plans”
Pros
What I most like about Cerner PowerChart EHR are the PowerPlans and the COReS tool. As the latter really helps with handoffs by providing compact patient summaries and clear plans. From my experience on inpatient medicine teams, this EHR feels more user friendly than many others I have worked with. PowerPlans save a ton of time and being able to build quick text templates has been a real efficiency booster for me. I also enjoy that I can review results in several different layouts, including graphical displays which makes trends easier to spot and interpret during busy rounds.
Cons
The Discharge tab in the physician view really frustrates me. Likewise the Outside Medical Systems section tends to be slow and frequently shows incomplete records which complicates my workflow. I also find it confusing to figure out how to tailor the left sidebar menu to the specific layout I prefer, since the customization options aren't always simple or obvious when I am trying to set up my view.

“Organized but awkward and antiquated”
Pros
I find that clinical information like vitals and similar data is organized into clearly marked sections which makes them easy to spot. The system is reasonably flexible and after I got used to its workflow it became fairly efficient for my tasks. The initial learning curve can be long before reaching full proficiency. On the plus side, all patient health records are consolidated in a single, easy-to-access location.
Cons
In my experience, the system feels fairly awkward. It often requires a lot of clicking to arrive at a particular end result and whenever a function is unfamiliar to me it's not very simple or easy to figure out. EMR software tends to give the impression that software engineers were the primary designers with little input from clinical caregivers and I feel Cerner is impacted by this as well. The whole interface comes across as somewhat antiquated and could really use a simpler, more alignd workflow.

“Highly customizable with strong reporting”
Pros
Compared to other EHRs, I find the decision support and reporting features much stronger and I really like how highly customizable the system is.
Cons
I get frustrated by how cluttered the toolbar is as there are so many icons that I often end up hunting for the right one. I also notice the system offers multiple ways to accomplish the same task which can be confusing. On top of that, being forced to hit refresh after almost every action adds another unnecessary click and wastes my time.

“extremely detailed pain assessments”
Pros
I find the pain assessment choices in the system to be extremely comprehensive and detailed, covering a wide range of options for accurate evaluations.
Cons
Charting consumes a lot of my time as I previously used epic, where I could copy and paste unchanged assessment data for patients during frequent reassessments and that feature was really helpful.

“it just seems to function”
Pros
To be honest, there's not a lot about Cerner that I appreciate aside from the fact that it at least seems to function.
Cons
I find it sluggish and clunky and it feels like it wasn't created with physicians in mind. The biggest pain is the near-impossibility of pulling up past cases by searching keywords for retrospective research. In our build, I cannot even hit Ctrl+Z to undo text edits which is terrifying when a whole report can be overwritten by accident. On top of that when the system times me out or locks me out, it fails to preserve my work which I have found incredibly frustrating and risky.

“Confusing app bar and slow support”
Pros
What I like is how user friendly the applications bar is as it lets me enter information into our data system quickly and without a lot of issue which definitely saves time.
Cons
One thing that frustrates me is that the apps in the app bar were redesigned a while ago and now it's challenging to figure out which tool to pick unless you already know the exact icon or title. On top of that, when I have needed support, Cerner's helpdesk phone line hasn't been very fast and the people I have reached haven't always seemed well-versed in Cerner-specific problems. To make matters worse, I have noticed that some laboratory tests show up under different names in Cerner, or aren't even available as orderable items in the nurses' ordering interface which creates confusion and extra work.

“well organized but adds extra tasks”
Pros
I appreciate that the platform keeps everything well organized and easy to find.
Cons
One major issue I have is that, compared with other electronic health record systems, this one ends up adding extra tasks onto staff who are already overloaded. In practice, what takes five clicks in Cerner feels like it would take far fewer steps in alternatives like epic and that inefficiency adds up. Startup is painfully slow for me and the system drags during normal use as well which interrupts workflow. To be blunt, the whole application gives the impression it was designed in another decade and needs a serious overhaul.

“centralized info but weird workflows”
Pros
I love that all my information such as imaging, notes and records is kept in one place. So overall it really makes finding what I need easy and quick.
Cons

“Great for daily data organization tasks”
Pros
Powerchart works wonders when it comes to organizing day to day workflow. It provides a streamlined platform for patient data. It allows me to check up on arrangements and send messages in regards to patients to different offices.
Cons

“Review”
Pros
Decision support and reporting make Cerner better than other EHRs. It is highly adaptable, a lot more than other EHR options. Try not to hold back on training, the go-live help while executing this EHR. IPOCs are effectively adjustable and take into consideration administrative bodies to effortlessly observe the arrangement of care for different disciplines in a single area in the EHR. e-QC takes into consideration the reflection of value measures legitimately in the EMR versus in an outsider abstraction system.
Cons
Excessive number of symbols on the toolbar; need to search for symbols very often. Theres also such a large number of approaches to do something very similar on the platform, it incites confusion. Having to refresh and save after every little task or the progress will be lost takes so much pointless time.

“pretty-user friendly, not customizable”
Pros
Given the kind of patients I have to record information for, Cerner performs well. I also found it very 'new-user' friendly because I picked up how to document using this software quickly.
Cons
I am disappointed that it isn't customizable. I think having different fonts and colors would help highlight key items and simplify documentation. Also completed tasks remain on the task list even after I have documented them, so I sometimes end up documenting the same information twice.
