Pros

One thing that really works well is that there's no sign-in page to deal with and clients can keep using the same link for recurring appointments.

Cons

The video and audio quality can be inconsistent at times.

Comprehensive system

Pros

Having a video platform I can trust in confidential settings is a huge plus and the fact that it's free makes it even better. That covers almost everything I need. The only thing I'd still want is the option to bring more than one person into a session at the same time. It may already be available and I just haven't figured out how to do it yet.

Cons

In my work as a Relationship Coach, it's really important to have more than one person join a session at once when partners are in different locations. That's the one limitation that stands out to me right now. It's possible the feature exists already but if it does, I haven't been able to find it yet.

on-demand features

Pros

Running virtual visits has been much simpler because patients can get into my waiting room from anywhere without hassle. The on-demand features are also a really practical setup for us. We're a nonprofit clinic so we don't need every tool every single day and we definitely don't need to pay for extras all the time. Being able to use certain features only when needed makes a lot more sense and supports growth for organizations of any size. I had looked at other platforms that were charging more than $300 a month and at the time it was just me trying to connect with patients in rural farming communities so they could avoid driving three hours to the office. Doxy really came through. Telehealth should be accessible to everyone, not just people who can afford to pay a premium for convenience.

Cons

There really isn't much to complain about but I do miss having the app. It was more convenient for providers using tablets and the notifications helped when a patient arrived while I was juggling other tasks.

Free for solo practice

Pros

This software is incredibly simple and it's been very reliable to use. I also really appreciate that it's free for solo practitioners especially when so many other services keep nickel-and-diming independent providers.

Cons

Honestly I have nothing to complain about. There's really nothing not to like.

helps our health practice

Pros

At my boss's private behavioral health practice, this has been fantastic to use. It's really reassuring to see exactly who is sitting in the waiting room and the calls have been consistently reliable with no dropped connections or poor video quality.

Cons

Your computer does need to be set up properly beforehand or it may not connect. That said they provide a very helpful guide along with tools that walk you through getting everything ready.

Convenient appointments

Pros

Using doxy.me for telemental health sessions has been great. It works well for both me and my clients and the setup is very simple. One of the biggest benefits is that clients can join without downloading any special software which makes appointments much more convenient. It's also HIPAA compliant which is essential for my practice. I've really loved using it.

Cons

A decent internet or cell connection is necessary since you'll need at least two or three bars of service for it to work reliably. That said it has only caused an issue for me on one occasion.

offers plenty of features

Pros

The platform works really well and offers a lot of features for the price. Customer service has been excellent too, very responsive whenever needed. Another big plus is that my patients don't have to download any software to use it.

Cons

I honestly can't think of any downsides. I've been using it for a year now and have been very happy with it.

thoughtful layout

Pros

The layout has been really well done and the online waiting room is especially useful. Call quality has been consistently reliable and I can hardly remember ever running into issues with it.

Cons

Excellent fit for my practice

Pros

It was very easy to use and I really appreciate that it's HIPAA compliant with a BAA while still being free to use. Setting up my waiting room and sharing the link with clients takes almost no time. They just sign in and we're able to have high-quality video sessions without any cost to them or to me.

Cons

Honestly I don't really have any complaints about this program. The free version works very well for basic video and voice calls. If someone needs extra tools, the paid plans are there and the added features seem worth the cost if you don't already use an EHR platform that includes them. Since I already have that side covered and only needed a video solution, this has been an excellent fit.

Pros

Being able to run my practice from home has been a huge benefit. I also appreciate that Doxy.me alerts you when a free trial is about to end so you have the chance to cancel before any charges happen which honestly makes me more willing to pay for an upgraded version later.

Cons

At times it won't connect unless I log out first and then sign back in.

Protects client's privacy

Pros

One of the biggest reasons this works so well for me is that clients don't have to create an account or login which is really important for protecting their privacy and helping them feel their confidentiality is being respected. A lot of other video platforms require that step and it always raises concerns about how client data might be collected or used. The fact that this platform is HIPAA compliant and includes a BAA makes it an even better fit.

My patients love it

Pros

Connecting with patients and even friends through this platform has been very convenient. After setting up my account, nobody else needs to register for anything which makes the whole process simple and hassle-free. I also feel confident about the privacy it provides. Once my patients try it, they usually end up loving it. Even people who live close by sometimes choose to meet with me online instead of making the drive. Overall I've been very happy with this site.

Cons

My only real complaint is that a strong internet connection is necessary, otherwise occasional glitches can happen. Most of the time, a quick reboot fixes the issue for both sides.

handy waiting room feature

Pros

Getting clients set up is very simple and the waiting room feature is especially useful.

Cons

Audio and video can occasionally glitch or freeze depending on the client's location or device but it happens rarely enough that it's not really an issue.

simple daily logins

Pros

Getting on each day is really easy and it's just as simple for clients since they only need to use my link.

Cons

The bot that appears at the beginning can feel a bit intimidating at times, kind of like a nosy neighbor looking over the fence.

Better than alternatives

Pros

After trying several other sites, doxy.me has been the most user-friendly option for me.

Cons

I still run into more screen freezes than I'd prefer although it happens less often now than it did when I first started using doxy.me two years ago.

cost makes it stand out

Pros

One of the biggest advantages is the cost. It's very simple for clients to use and the fact that they don't have to download anything makes appointments much more convenient.

Cons

At times it can take a minute for both sides to get connected and fully running. Restarting my computer on a regular basis usually helps with that.

Helps with worldwide telehealth sessions

Pros

I've been able to use it with clients across the world without much trouble. Every now and then it gets a little glitchy because of the Wi-Fi connection but it usually recovers pretty fast. A big plus is that my clients don't need to download or install anything which makes joining sessions very convenient for them.

Cons

Honestly I don't really have any complaints. I've been using Doxy.me for two years now and it has stayed consistently reliable.
