Confusing UI and lost notes

Pros

The template notes are really great and they make documenting my work quick, easy and convenient.

Cons

However I struggle with the user interface as it is confusing. And I often cannot find notes or previous visit encounters when I need them.

easy interface reduces errors

Pros

eClinicalWorks has an easy to use interface that makes handling patient care, billing and documentation much smoother for me. Plus combining the EHR with scheduling and billing features reduces errors and saves a lot of time.

Cons

The system occasionally works slowly when handling large datasets. The steep learning curve also made it challenging for me as a less experienced user, to master it smoothly.

Most powerful emr available

Pros

It is among the most powerful EMR systems available today. It provides all the tools and features my practice requires.

Cons

One thing I notice is that it requires a lot of clicks to complete everyday tasks. That amount of clicking feels excessive although the company is aware of the problem.

Uses colors for easy scheduling

Pros

I am really into how the system uses colors to differentiate appointment types. It keeps my schedule tidy and easy to scan. Also it is to pick up and I use it every day without trouble.

Cons

Sometimes my screen will pop up a claim summary error right after I print a patient's receipt and it stays there until I force the application to quit and then reopen it which interrupts my workflow.

repeatedly lost data

Pros

Honestly there wasn't anything I liked about it when working in the dermatology world other than that it was cheap.

Cons

Our team repeatedly lost data while we were charting in the exam rooms.

Comprehensive but takes some to learn it

Pros

It's got everything in one place and keeps things coordinated.

Cons

Getting started can be a bit tricky and it takes time to learn the system.

A soul-crushing and demoralizing experience

Pros

Using this EHR has been such a demoralizing experience that it was the final push I needed to seriously consider leaving medicine for an alternate career path I have been thinking about. Using it felt utterly soul-crushing.

Cons

I have worked with a bunch of different EHR systems over the years and in my opinion it ranks among the worst. The workflows are way too complex, failing to meet even the most basic expectations.

make clueless updates

Pros

I have stuck with them since 2012 mainly because their pricing is lower than most competitors, even though there are not many features I would call real advantages.

Cons

Honestly in my experience they seem clueless as their updates actually create more work for providers and nurses instead of fixing anything. I have watched them repeatedly fail to resolve problems and often reply with responses that feel clueless or pointless. Also there are persistent issues with units of measure and the documentation required for PGIP and insurance audits. Their releases are focused on IT tinkering rather than meaningful clinical improvements and to me this is the worst EHR I have used.

One word, "Outstanding"

Pros

eClinical offers really smooth navigation and the data portability is super easy with it which is a huge plus for me. Plus it helps me manage day-to-day scheduling efficiently without wasting any time.

Cons

I do not have any cons that are worth mentioning.

User friendly with a lot of features

Pros

This software is user friendly as I can find everything easily and it packs a lot of helpful features.

Cons

The workflow often demands too many clicks. I feel like a handful of processes could be made simpler but I still consider it overall a great piece of software.

exceptional support and very speedy

Pros

I have found their support to be exceptional as always quick to respond, professional and genuinely friendly. The program lets a solo physician like me run the entire practice on my own without help. It's simply very speedy and efficient.

Cons

There are still more mouse clicks than I'd prefer as when I am typing I want my hands to stay on the keyboard rather than reaching for the mouse as though I can tell they're improving a bit every day. I have relied on eCW for more than 20 years and I am glad I made that choice.

One of the top record systems

Pros

Honestly I consider it one of the top medical record and scheduling systems. I have had really great experiences using it!

Cons

Logging in can take a little while which I find annoying but it's not a dealbreaker.

stuck paying for a lot of add-ons

Pros

I am not impressed as having to buy each feature separately instead of getting a complete product, combined with support that offers little help, makes this a really poor system in my view and I find it frustrating to use.

Cons

well I am stuck paying for a ton of add-ons as things like clearinghouse and statements, check-in features and other modules all come at extra cost. The support team is awful. they frequently cannot log into the system to make fixes so I am forced to rely on an admin account pathway that becomes useless if the admin is locked out. I also face ongoing connection failures impacting scripts, billing and multiple system components. The built-in reporting is confusing and unclear and I keep getting hit with unexpected problems as from the Change Healthcare breach fallout to MIPS reporting glitches and other surprises.

Lives up to its claims

Pros

It is generally quick and easy for providers to input notes. It does exactly what it's supposed to do.

Cons

I frequently have to restart the program. If I open more than one instance on my laptop, it often crashes the PC. When adding printers, I have to restart the software. Support usually takes hours to respond to tickets.

eClinicalWorks is superb EMR software

Pros

I've used eClinicalWorks with 2 different companies and I've always found it to be really user-friendly. Also the staff did not complain about it either, which is always a good sign. Even physicians found it helpful and easy to navigate. It doesn't take long to get comfortable with it.

Cons

Not many people are familiar with it, but I do not think that is your fault.

Very Expensive for no reason

Pros

I believe it's a decent system overall but I felt like they tried to exploit people who are not aware of better-priced alternatives.

Cons

The main downside which is kind of funny to call it that was that they were charging 5 to 10 times more than other similar software I checked out. When I mentioned that the price was way too high, they started lowering it little by little. I am just not okay with working with a company that tries to overcharge like that.

We had a bad experience

Pros

It covers all the basic features I need for managing patients but nothing else.

Cons

As someone who uses EMR software daily in a busy healthcare setting, I find that it often does not meet my expectations. It's inefficient, involves repetitive tasks and has poor workflow integration.

eClinical Works is easy to learn and use

Pros

Navigating and using eClinicalWorks was simple for me. After watching a few videos, I was able to handle tasks on my own without much training, and we quickly started using the system regularly.

Cons

The only thing I did not like about eClinicalWorks was the overall appearance, but its a minor issue and not a deal breaker for me.

Userfriendly software

Pros

eClinicalWorks provides an affordable solution for medical practices and providers. The system is generally streamlined, easy to navigate and although it's an older platform, it continues to improve and meets our practice's needs.

Cons

I really wish eClinical had a better system for documenting procedures and generating consents and information. Right now we have to create these manually as PDF documents, and it would save us a lot of hassle if we could just integrate them directly into the system instead of scanning them back in.
