My favorite software

Pros

Hands down the best software I've ever used. It performs exceptionally well across the board especially with patient management and revenue cycle management. Handling denials and posting claims is very simple and the system gives clear, convenient views of both patient charts and outstanding claims.

Cons

There's honestly almost nothing about it that I dislike. It's easily my favorite RCM software to work with.

all in one solution

Pros

Over the years this has consistently felt like an all-in-one solution that takes a lot of the complexity out of patient care work and makes daily tasks easier to manage.

Cons

Updating and sending medications or prescriptions can be a little tricky whenever there's a change made to a patient's chart.

Better scheduling view

Pros

Our company recently got a few updates and the new way of viewing providers' schedules feels much more comfortable and convenient to use.

Cons

Although the new updates have improved things, there's still room for improvement especially when it comes to searching for a patient's chart. It would help to have more options and a simpler process for people working on reports who need to move through many charts quickly.

Helpful dashboard and color-coded schedule

The dashboard pulls a lot of information into one place and the color-coded schedule helps users spot open appointments quickly at a glance.

Costly add-ons

Pros

This EMR is very comprehensive, with a wide range of tools and features that let you handle a lot within your clinic. It also gives you flexibility with templates and charting so you can set things up the way that works best for your workflow. The patient portal is another strong point especially since it's simple to give portal access to an entire family without needing a different email address for each person.

Cons

there seems to be an extra fee attached to almost everything which makes growth difficult. For example, they bill per virtual visit so your monthly cost is never consistent. There are also added charges for using an iPad, a separate monthly fee for the clearinghouse, an annual ECPS fee, extra cost for the integrated scribe and more. For a small practice, those ongoing add-ons can feel overwhelming and become pretty hard to sustain.

Easy charting and helpful color coding

Pros

The user interface is pretty easy to pick up even for someone who isnt overly tech-savvy and it genuinely makes my daily charting and schedule management much easier. Ive also found that the color coding isnt just decorative.. it actually helps me quickly scan and prioritize which saves mental energy and keeps me organized throughout the day.

Cons

What frustrates me is how many clicks it takes to reach certain sections of the portal. Navigation is possible but the number of steps feels unnecessary and would benefit from streamlining.

awful mobile app

Pros

I have not found many positives in ECW overall. One thing I do like is that the patient portal is comparatively user friendly for both clinicians and patients to access and use.

Cons

It is far too clicky. I mean to say it usually requires a lot of clicks to finish even the simplest things. I also notice that sending prescriptions is especially the worst. For example, switching the pharmacy to send a medication can easily take me around ten clicks. Plus the interface just does not hold up next to larger systems like Epic. The mobile app is also awful and using dictation on it is really slow.

Only positive is connecting platforms

Pros

There are not many positives I can point out aside from the fact that it connects with other platforms. That's what lets us piece together a working EHR/PM setup because on its own, it just does not work.

Cons

Though it technically serves as an EHR but I would not rank it highly. During the sales pitch they promised a long list of features and capabilities that simply never materialized for us which was really disappointing. Getting help from support is basically impossible as it feels like there is no customer service to speak of and on the rare occasions someone responds, the communication is disrupted by a language barrier that makes troubleshooting frustrating. Their reporting tools are particularly weak as the system struggles to pull even basic metrics we need to monitor performance and KPIs. For example we cannot generate a reliable no-show report which is a fundamental, industry-standard report which means we are left without essential data for managing operations.

survives only on past reputation

Pros

Honestly I see absolutely nothing good about this product as it seems to survive only on its past reputation. I cannot point to a single person I know who's satisfied and they seem to pitch it to hospitals because the physicians I have talked to really dislike it.

Cons

After finally making the switch I faced three months of delays and numerous headaches while they pulled out my exit. At one point they even tried to retain me by cutting the price by over fifty percent. But be careful as they do not just charge you directly, they also extract a bigger share from credit card processors, labs and radiology partners to integrate with the software and those extra fees are ultimately passed on to you.

Pros

There is nothing good about it. I have had problem after problem since installation. It is simply one of the worst products on the market. But sadly change is difficult.

Pros

For basic charting and billing I find the system relatively easy to operate and get comfortable with. Plus it offers a broad set of capabilities but almost everything comes with an added fee and trying to keep pace with constant upgrades and extra products is pretty tiring.

Cons

Dealing with their customer service gives me a real headache. It feels like no problem or question ever gets a easy fix and since everything has to be routed through a ticket, I end up waiting for them to contact me whenever it's convenient for them.

make clueless updates

Pros

I have stuck with them since 2012 mainly because their pricing is lower than most competitors, even though there are not many features I would call real advantages.

Cons

Honestly in my experience they seem clueless as their updates actually create more work for providers and nurses instead of fixing anything. I have watched them repeatedly fail to resolve problems and often reply with responses that feel clueless or pointless. Also there are persistent issues with units of measure and the documentation required for PGIP and insurance audits. Their releases are focused on IT tinkering rather than meaningful clinical improvements and to me this is the worst EHR I have used.

Cons

There are still more mouse clicks than I'd prefer as when I am typing I want my hands to stay on the keyboard rather than reaching for the mouse as though I can tell they're improving a bit every day. I have relied on eCW for more than 20 years and I am glad I made that choice.

stuck paying for a lot of add-ons

Pros

I am not impressed as having to buy each feature separately instead of getting a complete product, combined with support that offers little help, makes this a really poor system in my view and I find it frustrating to use.

Cons

well I am stuck paying for a ton of add-ons as things like clearinghouse and statements, check-in features and other modules all come at extra cost. The support team is awful. they frequently cannot log into the system to make fixes so I am forced to rely on an admin account pathway that becomes useless if the admin is locked out. I also face ongoing connection failures impacting scripts, billing and multiple system components. The built-in reporting is confusing and unclear and I keep getting hit with unexpected problems as from the Change Healthcare breach fallout to MIPS reporting glitches and other surprises.

Userfriendly software

Pros

eClinicalWorks provides an affordable solution for medical practices and providers. The system is generally streamlined, easy to navigate and although it's an older platform, it continues to improve and meets our practice's needs.

Cons

The mobile app needs improvements

Pros

If I were in charge of purchasing software, like I was in my previous practice, I would quickly look for an alternative, maybe even Epic, so it could integrate with all the surrounding hospitals because it is a system that is not used by many big hospitals.

Cons

The mobile app randomly stops working and support staff are unable to help remotely. I have to go back to the office to reset the app I am trying to use outside. The staff is not responsive at all they just "open a ticket," which feels like code for ignoring my issue.

Software is not worth the investment

Pros

I have no positives. I discovered they settled with the DOJ for lying about their product. The whole company operates unethically.

Cons

The software is riddled with errors. I have to report each one individually by opening a ticket through another webpage. No matter how obvious the problem is, they insist on calling me and logging into my computer instead of trying to check it out themselves. In the end, nothing ever gets fixed.

Don't go for it!!

Pros

I can use it on a tablet which is really convenient. Though, it does cram a lot of stuff on the screen, some of which I do not find all that useful.

Cons

From the annoying login process to being forced to falsify records, it feels like everything about this system makes it harder to access the information I need. The multiple layers of menus and extra clicks just make everything more frustrating. The onboarding was handled by just one person not a team, and honestly, she had to Google everything we asked. We could even see her Googling on her Zoom screen, though she did not realize it. In my opinion, it is a total ripoff. From top to bottom, it seems like they really don't understand medicine. It feels like they're just in it to mine data.
