“Simple to create smart phrases
Pros
I find it simple to create smart phrases and it takes fewer clicks than other EMRs I have used. The overall workflow feels smooth and I can tailor it to suit my preferences. Performance is pretty good, so I rarely have to wait for pages to load.
Cons
Updating and editing the medical history entry is not as easy as it should be. So it would be nicer if it were easier to change and update. The personal notepad is also too small. I'd prefer it to be larger and adjustable in size. Those improvements would make the tool far more functional for me.

“Appreciate templates but overwhelming views
Pros
I appreciate being able to create my own templates and it's convenient to view multidisciplinary documentation so easily.
Cons
The views feel overwhelming with too many buttons. I don't find the aesthetics simple. There are multiple ways to do the same task and everything's crammed onto one screen.

“Open multiple windows simultaneously
Pros
I like that I can open multiple windows simultaneously which helps me manage tasks more efficiently. Sending phone notes is simple and the in-basket messages act like those same phone notes, so everything stays consistent and easy to follow.
Cons
Every so often I run into mismatched dates where the timestamp doesn't reflect when I actually wrote the note and that throws off searching for particular visits or consults. This inconsistency makes it challenging to locate exact face dates, especially when I am trying to reconcile records or pull up a specific consultation.

“quite comprehensive but long training
Pros
It is extremely comprehensive and flexible for my practice needs. The reporting is easy to work with and the whole system is powerful. Also it's simple to pick up and use.
Cons
I had to have everyone who will be involved in building the system attend at least two weeks of training which I found can be a pretty tedious and drawn-out process.

“Complete access to all clinical data
Pros
It gives me complete access to every parameter and all clinical data outpatients, inpatients, previous faces, medications, providing a truly comprehensive view instantly and right at my fingertips
Cons
The system's high level of complexity and the sheer number of built-in features can make it hard for me to grasp at times

“Really impressed with user friendly feel
Pros
I am really impressed with how user friendly it is. Also I loved that I could tailor it to my needs. This has been the simplest program for me to pick up and learn.
Cons
Personally, I have noticed the health maintenance features could use improvement so they should be easier to find and to mark as completed. Even so, I am confident it's still the best option.

“More user friendly than mainstream solutions
Pros
This program is much more user-friendly than a lot of the mainstream EMR/EHR solutions I have used. its templates are handy and really easy to configure and deploy.
Cons
In my experience, Epic would benefit from doing more targeted marketing toward clinics or facilities that aren't driven by high patient turnover, because they might not realize it's a fit for their needs.

“Built-in efficiencies but not user friendly
Pros
I probably don't have many options for my EMR. Smartsets, smart notes and other workflow efficiencies are already built into the system
Cons
It is not user friendly. Functionality is way too difficult and there's limited room to think outside the box creatively especially for complex multidisciplinary care

“Industry leader- but plenty of limitations
Pros
It is known to be the EMR industry leader, so definitely there are many facilities out there that are using EPIC and have rates all good about it. You can easily add notes and access notes of other providers as well.
Cons
The system has a lot of limitations. Working in a hospital I have no other option but to cope with this EMR, otherwise I would have switched. Ability to export or print data is very limited. It is very rigid and not intuitive at all. It’s just okay, have to work with as I seem to have no choice.

“Epic dominates with built-in efficiencies
Pros
EPIC has ranked among the top EMR platforms I have worked with and it accommodates the responsibilities of every role I have seen across the hospital. Tasks like running reports, reviewing charts and searching for information are simple and user friendly which really cuts down on time since everything is immediately accessible.
Cons
Occasionally reports fail to load, so I need to sign out and then sign back into EPIC to force the updates and get the feed to refresh.

“Dominates market but complex interface
Pros
Working at a large healthcare organization, I know Epic dominates the market. As It comes with smartsets, smart notes and numerous built?in efficiencies.
Cons
I find the interface and the functionality fairly complex. It doesn't lend itself to creative, out of the box workflows which is a real problem for complicated, multidisciplinary care teams. There's also a restricted ability to export, print or manipulate data, so we end up creating 'workaround' spreadsheets that completely undermine the goal of centralizing information.

“Open many windows at once
Pros
I can open many windows at once and sending phone notes is easy. in-basket messages are treated the same exact way overall.
Cons
I cannot view beyond a certain point for some patients since the upgrade. It's also difficult to access FYI items if they haven't been highlighted already.

“Great for day-to-day use
Pros
I like how there are so many features that let you arrange the chart documentation, for example, cluster notes and supplier scratchpad. Then allowing you to transfer this information later to different sites is very useful. Scheduling patients and duplicating information saves a lot of time.
Cons
The options for customization are limited. Some things are nearly impossible to alter. There should be the ability for us to use custom settings and templates fitting to ones profession without the need for approval of other teams that use the system in a different capacity.

“EPIC EMR
Pros
This EMR is nice and simple. It isn’t difficult to use at all in comparison to other very common EMR systems. Setting up templates is super fun and simple to do. I like this product to some extent.
Cons
The EMR industry is all just trying to make money rather than actually help us doctors to do our job with ease. Facilities just focus more on patient turnover rather than patient care which is very sad to see.

“Very Helpful.
Pros
My job is related to medical records and for me EPIC has helped me getting my job done right. I can easily access records of multiple patients from different facilities which are connected with EPIC. It is a very broad software, with a lot of features. All the information related to imaging, labs, consults, office notes etc are easily accessible.
Cons
It can be quite frightening when you see so much on it as it has a lot of features and functionalities, so you get kind of perplexed. Not every facility is connected with EPIC, so we have to request the facilities to get information from them.

“Better care of patients
Pros
It is great as it have helped us take better care of our patients, and made things a lot easier for us. Patients can view their medical information, can message doctors, schedule appointments with their personalized patient portal. It also offers telemedicine, which made it a lot easier for doctors to communicate with their patients. It also helped us meet the Meaningful Use Stage 2 requirements. It helps us access all the information on any Apple device as well, patients can do the same. Its finance module helps in tracking the payments, bills and invoices. It is easy to streamline your workflow with all their personalized system.
Cons
Epic needs to improve their health maintenance option as it needs too more clear and visible, so that it gets easy to see and mark it complete. Upgrading the system is very hard and is like a fight. Its really hard to get it upgraded.

“A lot of features
Pros
This product is easy to use. It has a lot of features to offer, and you can get whatever you want. I can easily enter my notes and can access information related to patients. Navigating between tasks and features I need is really easy and I love it.
Cons
It has so many features, and that itself can be its con as it makes the software quite overwhelming for anyone who sees it for the first time. It would be better if the scan was done in color rather than in black and white.

“Great features but complex
Pros
It has been 8 months since we started using EPIC, and it has so many great features that I like it. Although it took me a while to learn how to use it. The amount of learning I’ve done has actually made me like this product, however I do need to learn a lot more and that might take me a year or two. Access to notes written down by other providers can easily and quickly be accessed.
Cons
The updates that come, usually disrupts everything and is not at all exciting for us. The updates make the system worse and gets difficult for us to use it. The system is very complex to learn and use. The learning process takes time.
