“Easy to use across multiple specialties
Pros
Once I got the hang of Epic, it is easy to use. I find it works well across multiple specialties. The patient portal is also easy for patients to navigate and transferring patient information between healthcare systems is simple.
Cons
It took me a long time to learn, since the learning curve is steep. Also, navigating through the many screens to pull up patient details or complete tasks like order sets ends up being very time-consuming.

“Useful in-chart search and patient letters
Pros
What I find most useful is the in-chart search as it makes finding details so quick and the ability to create patient letters directly from the chart. I also appreciate that everything's simple to locate and the navigation can be tailored without becoming complicated.
Cons
One feature I would change is having customizable labels for work queue statuses which would make tracking easier. I have also noticed that when bugs appear, it can take a rather long time before they're resolved.

“Excellent tool for tracking patient journey
Pros
When I work in a large system, this tool is excellent. Being able to track a patient's journey from acute care to rehab and then home is something I really value. It also reduces extra phone calls because I can locate what I need in the patient's online chart.
Cons
I find charting by exception challenging because I worry about overlooking something while documenting. Some critical items won't always prompt you to fill them in and that makes me uneasy.

“Simple flow sheets and readable mar
Pros
I like how simple the flow sheets are as reviewing results seems really simple to me. The MAR is highly readable and uses color coding which makes it even more user friendly to work with for routine care.
Cons
I find it somewhat challenging to review orders. Both the Manage Orders and Order History sections exist, yet it's often hard to view the complete order and how it was entered. I'd also appreciate a TAR treatment administration record. Having a TAR would provide much better visibility for treatments such as wound care or skin care on patients.

“Loved work queues but hard to pick up
Pros
One thing I absolutely loved was all the different work queues available. With them, a claim could never slip through the cracks in this system. I could set items to be reassigned after a certain number of weeks or spin up new queues as needed. That feature was without a doubt my favorite aspect of using this software!
Cons
It was honestly pretty hard to pick up and demanded extensive training before I felt comfortable using it. I cannot say customer support left me particularly impressed. We ended up figuring a great deal out by ourselves through trial and error and I felt like much of our learning came from that hands-on experimentation.

“Not good but not the worst either
Pros
Most EMR software are sloppy since there is very little consideration put into the UX/UI designs. Epic is much of the same. Although it does offer a lot of features and functions and once you get the hang of them, they allow you to have considerably good control of your data. CareAnywhere views and links to PACS systems are among its best features
Cons
The redundant multicolored theme has to be the worst feature, along with there being no option to customize them. The customization option is spotty at best. They do offer it on every page but it only enables you to edit a few things whereas so many things cannot be customized such as it doesnt allow you to rearrange the columns on the Chart Review window according to your preferences. Inbox functions are also limited and poor.

“Physical Therapy Documentation tools available
Pros
In our hospital there are a lot of other providers that need the information, so the system is vast, and its scope is great as well. Once you are trained well it becomes easy to use it. It has tools for physical therapy documentation which is great.
Cons
It is a very broad system, it has a lot of options and features from which it gets really hard to choose. There are many ways to do the same task, which confuses a lot, so they should cut down the other ways and make a standard way of doing things.

“Chaotic layout and navigation
Pros
I have noticed lots of providers use this system, so I am usually able to locate the docs I need. still, it eats up a ton of time because the layout and labels are incredibly vague and confusing.
Cons
It adds hours to my workday because there is so much extra clicking, the navigation is awkward and tasks slow down considerably. in short, it feels like a complete, chaotic mess.

“Quickly access all records in storage
Pros
I can quickly access all records, especially when I am working from other offices that use Epic. There's a dedicated storage folder holding every record.
Cons
However, whenever I need to print a document I must log in with proper credentials and provide a justification or get permission which makes printing receipts or a patient's account history quite inconvenient.

“Really easy and handy to use
Pros
Since October 2017 I have been using it and I find it really easy and handy to use, very simple to learn.
Cons
My only problem is that it signs me out far too quickly. otherwise I cannot think of any complaints and overall it's a great system.

“Simple tracking of patient contact
Pros
Whenever a clinic that uses it reaches out to a patient by phone or mail, I can see it documented. Also it is simple for me to track who from the office contacted the patient and when, whether for follow-up or to set up an appointment. The discharge notes are also simple and readable.
Cons
I don't like that lab results aren't organized by common panels like CMP, lipid panel or CBC. it makes finding grouped tests more confusing than it should be.

“Single click for detailed information
Pros
I really like that all the patient's detailed information is accessible with a single click and I find scheduling surgeries or adding orders to be a simple, user friendly feature that saves me time.
Cons
For my practice, it feels overloaded with too much granular information and I think this software is better suited to large hospital systems than to smaller private offices.

“Easy templates for documentation
Pros
I found the templates really easy to set up, though without them the documentation process drags on. For physicians and nursing staff I get a lot of value from the point and click style documentation and I was able to configure communication channels between providers, staff and patients with relative ease.
Cons
In my experience it's not well suited for rehabilitation facilities. while templates do help, the system falls short for simple scheduling, operational analytics and documentation needs, so I wouldn't recommend it for outpatient clinics looking for easy practice management.

“Pretty basic after a walkthrough
Pros
Once someone walks me through it, I find it pretty basic. In my physical therapy work, I only use the features I require, yet there is a ton of additional content geared toward other hospital staff which can be helpful broadly but isn't always needed personally for my role.
Cons
At times it feels overloaded with information and choices, making it harder to find exactly what someone needs to see. I notice there are numerous methods to complete a single basic task and in my opinion the process should be alignd into a single, consistent approach.

“Extensive functionality but buried somewhere
Pros
Look, I wont excuse it. Most EMR systems feel like a mess. They seem like dozens of features slapped together with little attention to UI or UX and the result is confusing for users. In my experience, vendors often seem indifferent to that confusion as long as the core functionality exists, using it as an excuse to charge for enterprise training and large service contracts. And this one follows that same trend. But it definitely offers extensive functionality, even if it is often buried. Once I find what I need, though, it helps me keep track of everything. The standout elements for me are the CareEverywhere views and the shortcuts into PACS systems.
Cons
I hate the awful color schemes and the tiny amount of customization available. There's a weird inconsistency in what you can tweak For example, I cannot rearrange columns in Chart Review which drives me nuts. On top of that, the Inbox workflow is pretty awful and slows me down.

“User friendly with combined scheduling
Pros
I am impressed by how user-friendly it is. having scheduling and charting combined in a single application is convenient. it's also connected to MyChart. and because many other hospitals use Epic, I find it easier to share patient information across systems.
Cons
In my experience, the presence of roughly ten different ways to accomplish the same task in Epic makes training and cross-training challenging since colleagues often learned different approaches.

“Overall Good
Pros
It doesn’t require much clicking to get somewhere or do something. Compared to many other EMR systems this is very easy. They have smart phrases which is very easy to set. It can easily be customized accordingly. The templates are great, the flow is good. The speed is pretty good as well.
Cons
It would make it much better if entering medical history was made easy to change or update.

“Full access to data
Pros
Managing patient records had never been easy for us before until EPIC. You can easily access all the data and keep track of medical records of patients. Tracking patient progress and visits have become very simple. The system is very comprehensive and has a lot of great features from which you can easily get your tasks done. Focusing on patient care is very easy for us now due to EPIC EMR.
Cons
It is a bit complex, but once you learn how things work you’ll get used to it.

“Takes a lot of clicks to navigate
Pros
I find this EHR extremely comprehensive, offering several different ways to display information and it lets me set customization and permission levels for diverse system users.
Cons
It takes a lot of clicks to get where I want and see what I want. Image and lab views are quite unmanageable too.
