Integrating Covid Tech in a Post-Pandemic World

Pros

eVisit offers an easy-to-use interface for both providers and clients. Clients can log in through the app or website. Among all the telehealth apps we've tried for behavioral health services, eVisit was by far the easiest to set up and use.

Cons

We have had issues before with our clients changing their pharmacy information, but that information doesn't make it to the provider. It's always handled quickly though.

Great way to see patients in a time of telemedicine

Pros

It is extremely user-friendly. It simplifies patient interactions, and the connection is always reliable. I feel secure using it with patients.

Cons

The only con that has been found is that connections can be spotty but I am not sure if this is due to patients internet over the programs capability.

A must!

Pros

This application is essential for anyone in the medical field. It allows providers to focus more on critical cases by enabling escripts without unnecessary appointments. It's incredibly helpful.

Cons

Unfortunately, I think patients try to use this to their advantage and never come in the doctors office. A doctor/patient relationship is very important so its just not logical to never be seen. But when used properly this is app can be proven very effective.

Telehealth basics guide

Pros

This has been a good introductory platform for telehealth visits. Once the patient is connected to the video call, it's relatively simple to use and exporting files into the EMR is easy.

Cons

The biggest challenge is walking patients through downloading the app and figuring out how to use it which takes a lot of time. When patients struggle with it, both they and the healthcare providers end up frustrated. It also doesn't integrate with my EMR so I have to manually re-enter some demographic information and there's no secure texting feature.

Expanded access opportunities

Pros

After bringing it into our clinic, our providers have been able to stay connected with and reach more patients because visits no longer depend on someone physically coming into the office. That has been especially valuable for specific groups of patients where transportation or limited availability used to be a major barrier to getting care. It has really helped close that gap for those populations.

Cons

One thing that still feels missing even if it may sound like a broader request, is built-in translation within the platform. Adding that feature would make an already positive tool even more impactful in our clinic by allowing more patients to actually use it for their appointments.

Remote patient care services

Pros

Being a physician, this software has been a big support in my work. It especially helps me stay connected with patients who are far away which makes remote care much more manageable. Patients can also make payments online and that has been very convenient. The customer support is excellent and the platform is user-friendly as well. Another feature that really matters to me is the ability to send e-prescriptions through it.

Cons

At times, the connection quality is poor and it feels a little expensive. Other than that, I do not have any major complaints.

Virtual consultations platform

Pros

Our clinic director uses it from time to time with off-site patients and it has been working really well. Patients really enjoy using it for consultations and follow-up re-evaluations.

Cons

Every now and then, the audio or video gets a little glitchy although that seems pretty common with webcam-based software. It would also be helpful to have a way to download the videos.

Simple remote appointments

Pros

It pretty much delivers on its promise by letting patients and doctors connect remotely for virtual appointments.

Cons

The connection isn't always reliable and can get glitchy. Scheduling and appointment alerts feel awkward and tough and the software isn't always simple to use.

All-in-one solution

Pros

One of the strongest points of this software is that it brings together an audiovisual interface, a charting system and credit card processing in a single package. In a lot of ways, it works as a turnkey solution for this type of practice.

Cons

Adding to the information entered by a patient is a bit limited at the moment. A customer service representative told me this feature is expected to be expanded in the future.

payment limitations challenges

Pros

One of the most useful parts of this platform is being able to video call patients who are far away, let them pay online, chart in real time and work with pharmacies during the visit. The standout benefit on my end though, has been the support team. They do have limits on what they're allowed to handle but whenever something falls within their scope, they truly put in the effort to help. Every person I've dealt with has been upbeat, kind, eager to assist and genuinely pleasant to work with. I honestly haven't come across anyone on the team who wasn't both likable and very much appreciated.

Cons

My main use for it is seeing patients for consults and ordering a confirmatory lab test. Patients pay me for the test and then the specialty lab bills me once a month for everything I ordered since they do not bill patients directly. Most people decide during the visit and pay for both the consult and the test at that time. The problem comes when someone wants time to think about it because the test is expensive or they do not have the money available that day or they need to wait for room on their credit card. Later, they call back wanting to add the test. I also have patients who get an indeterminate result and need to repeat the test three months later. To do that, they are forced to schedule another appointment with me as if it were a completely separate visit. The visit usually takes about one minute just so we can process the charge yet we still have to coordinate a time, interrupt our schedules and go through the whole process. It is an enormous hassle. Their reasoning is supposedly fraud prevention. That explanation makes no sense to me. If I am charging a patient's credit card, they would obviously notice a $250 charge and question it if it were unauthorized. On top of that, it feels insulting to imply that I would commit fraud with a patient in this scenario. I understand fraud exists but this application of the rule feels completely unreasonable. What makes it worse is that after years of dealing with this issue, they still refuse to change the policy. They will not even let a patient call in later, verify who they are and request the charge. The whole thing feels unnecessarily limited and extremely frustrating.

Branded telehealth experience

Pros

Having a custom-branded app has made a real difference for our company when it comes to using telemedicine and handling virtual visits.

Cons

Getting the app built in the beginning took much longer than it should have and there were quite a few hiccups throughout the process.

Customization options available

Pros

Right from the start, the platform has been very user-friendly and doesn't require much maintenance at all. Its customization options were a major factor in choosing it as our telehealth solution and the interfacing capabilities have also been a big advantage.

Cons

One thing that would make it better is adding password protection to limit access so just anyone can't download the software and reach our providers. We've had a few people from different states across the country sign up and try to contact our providers.

EHR integration capabilities

Pros

Having the basic EHR tied directly into the telehealth program is a big plus. Both providers and patients can get around the system without much trouble which makes day-to-day use more manageable. Customer service usually responds in a reasonable amount of time as well although it can sometimes take a while to reach the right person who can actually fix the issue.

Cons

Cost is very high. For a new business, it would make much more sense to have a pay-per-visit option while the practice is still growing. Another downside is that IT and tech support are not available 24/7. For a company operating around the clock, it is frustrating when a technical problem comes up during hours when the support team is unavailable.

Easy implementation process

Pros

Getting our clinic set up with this software felt very easy. The platform is clear and the way it connects providers with patients makes the whole process simple to manage.

Cons

Customer support was the weak spot. It took a very long time to reach our account manager and the pricing is also higher than with most other telehealth companies.

Performance issues

Pros

Honestly, there was very little to appreciate here because the software came with a lot of problems. The video and audio lagged badly and either the sound would drop or the video would freeze and cut out. That made it extremely hard to deliver services to patients properly.

Cons

This app has a long list of issues, starting with the overall quality. Everything worked extremely slowly and during nearly every session the audio and video kept cutting out. No matter what the provider or the customer tried, nothing really improved the connection or performance. On top of that, support was difficult to get ahold of and when they did respond, they often struggled to resolve the problem on their side. In the end, they would usually blame the provider's or patient's internet or LTE connection instead. Most of the time, patients had to be rescheduled or contacted by phone which also meant we often could not bill for the visit.

Poor reliability risks

Pros

Nothing positive I can point to. The platform and the company both came across as unprofessional. Their sales pitch sounds convincing and the marketing is polished but that's really all they seem to have going for them.

Cons

From actual use, the platform simply does not work properly. The image is constantly pixelated, the video freezes, the sound cuts out and calls keep dropping. And no, the issue is not my equipment or the computers and phones my patients are using.

Dependable platform support

Pros

From day one, the platform has been very simple to use and extremely dependable. I never really have to worry about it which gives me a lot of peace of mind. It consistently works the way it should and my patients have no trouble accessing it either. Overall, it has been fantastic.

Cons

I honestly can't think of any downsides to the software.

Easy onboarding process

Pros

This tool has been pretty easy. It's simple to learn and use when everything is working the way it should. Customer support has also been helpful overall, with only a few minor hiccups along the way.

Cons

Sometimes patients aren't able to hear us during calls. I'm not sure whether that comes from a software issue or something on the patient's side.
