Pros

We went live with Proton PACS in April 2014 after a seamless implementation phase that started in January. Planning ahead made the process incredibly smooth. This included setting up HL7 channels for modality worklist across 5 modalities (DR, CT, DEXA, US, MRI). The deployment not only streamlined our daily radiology workflow but also improved the entire order entry to report delivery process for physicians and radiologists. Integrating Inteleviewer directly into our EMR was a game-changer, making our system feel like an "invisible silo." Our physicians are thrilled with Inteleviewer's extensive features. As PACS administrator, I find the administrative side, Intelebrowser, just as robust and intuitive. Their support team has been outstanding, surpassing my expectations after experiences with less impressive PACS vendors since 2006. This product is truly incredible!

The software is very intuitive, integrates well with voice recognition, and includes a reliable portal for referring physicians. Downloads are fast, and I can access it from anywhere with internet.

The template matching leaves something to be desired, still grappling with this issue which affects efficiency.

We went live with Proton PACS in April 2014 after starting data migration in January. The detailed planning made the process seamless. Setting up the HL7 channels for modality worklists across five modalities (DR, CT, DEXA, US, MRI) streamlined both radiology workflow and the entire order entry to report completion process. We also integrated links from our EMR to directly open Inteleviewer, creating an efficient system. Our physicians have been thrilled with Inteleviewer's features, and our [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] is pleased with the operational cost model, especially when our server upgrade in 2018 was included in the "fee per study" model. As a PACS administrator, I find Intelebrowser robust and intuitive, and I highly praise their outstanding support team. This is an incredible product!

Representatives from the company trained us on the software before our first day using it, which was straightforward and included everything we needed from the beginning to the end of the patient experience. Finding images and reports quickly is crucial for our outpatient facility. Whenever we need to contact ProtonPACS, their customer service is courteous and knowledgeable about our issues. This software saves us significant time and effort by placing patient reports directly into their charts, a huge advantage.

Cons

The software boasts every tool imaginable and then some. Even after four years, I still haven't mastered it as much as I'd like; I keep discovering tools I've never seen or thought I'd need.

The software has every tool you could ever need and more. Even after four years, I am still not as proficient as I'd like to be, discovering tools I never knew existed or thought I would need.

ProtonPACS provides easy, fast access to all imaging studies and reports from anywhere. The image viewer includes a comprehensive set of tools for manipulating images. Sending reports to physicians and nurses takes just a couple of clicks and I can do all of this on my phone.

It could benefit from more attention to personalized settings so that upon logging in, it directs a physician straight to their patient's studies.

What bothered me the most was discovering there are different levels of logins for individuals. So, when I log in, the areas I can access differ from those available to colleagues with different access levels. It has occasionally caused confusion when collaborating.

When I pull up a patient to modify a study (Patient Hx), entering the history and clicking modify closes out that study. I have to re-enter the patient's MRN to access all ordered accessions in Pacs.

I believe this product should allow patients to access their imaging directly via email links with individual usernames and passwords. This would facilitate continuity of care with other providers and second opinions, and reduce duplicate imaging and the need for disks.

I'm grateful that everything I require is centralized in a single spot, eliminating the need to alternate between different programs or software for each patient. It's intuitive to learn and use, and the customer service has always been extremely accommodating when needed.

The thing I liked least about it was discovering there are different levels of logins for individuals. So if I log in with mine, the areas I can access are different from those with a different level of access. This has only caused confusion on a few occasions when my coworker and I might be working on something together.

The IT support and problem resolution are absolutely superb! The effectiveness of our office operations depends on the support we get from the company and how quickly issues are resolved. Radsource excels in this regard!

I believe this product should allow patients to access their imaging directly through an email link. The link should have an individual username and password, enabling them to view their imaging directly. This would facilitate continuity of care with other providers or second opinions and help eliminate duplicate imaging, especially if doctor referrals are out of state. It would also eliminate the need for disk burning, reducing breakage, etc.

This software is easy to use and easy to train others on. I've granted access to all necessary employees and outside providers, and they navigate the system and its functions with minimal support. Response times are generally good, though larger imaging studies or older offline ones can take a bit longer.

Cons

Managing multiple versions of software can be confusing with numerous workstations to monitor. My staff often initiates an upgrade prompted by the system's pop-up, only to find it's not compatible with our entire system. Reinstalling the viewer resolves this, though the PACS system itself runs smoothly. Occasional freezing or delays in loading are expected with any network-PACS interface.

This software is easy to use and train others on. I have provided access to all necessary employees and outside providers, and they navigate the system with minimal support needed later. The software has decent response times, except for larger imaging studies or those taken offline due to age.

Cons

The multiple software versions can get confusing when you have many workstations to continuously check. My staff will often do an upgrade prompted by a pop-up, but that version may not be compatible with our entire system. It's an easy fix, as I just have to uninstall and reinstall the viewer. The PACS system itself doesn't give us many problems. Occasional freezing or delays in loading happen, but that's something I expect with almost any network-PACS interface.

ProtonPACS has been straightforward for our staff to use and has provided speed improvements over our previous system. It offers easier access to advanced functions that were previously unavailable. Setting up new users and remote viewing using ProtonPortal has been painless. The included offsite backups have saved us costs as well.

Cons

Our ProtonPACS installation required substantial customization to meet our needs as an IDTF with a separate reading group. Radsource had to create multiple connections with other services to integrate with our reading group's preferences. However, the Radsource team ensured everything worked flawlessly by our go-live date.

Administrative tasks like adding new users and setting up remote viewing using the ProtonPortal have been painless. The included offsite backups have also been a cost-saving benefit for us.

Not necessarily a con, but our specific ProtonPACS installation required significant customization to get right. As an IDTF with a separate reading group that didn't want to use the default Proton tools, Radsource had to create multiple connections with other services to integrate with the reading group. That said, the team at Radsource had everything working without issue on our go-live date.

Our experience with Proton PACS has been excellent since switching from another major vendor last year. Their training and implementation staff were exceptional! It's easy to use and cost-effective.

We had one provider who wanted to draw and annotate on images, which isn't possible with ProtonPACS. Thankfully, we found a usable external program (free) for this purpose. Proton has added this feature to our wish list for future upgrades.
