“Allscripts Review
Pros
This is a great company and a one-stop place for all healthcare needs. I find it very useful.
Cons
No complaints about this program. It is intuitive, so virtually anyone can use it to its fullest potential.

“Allscripts PM is functional and without fuss.
Pros
Day-to-day appointment management functions are straightforward and the setup is intuitive. Setting, moving, and looking up patient appointments, as well as changing registration, is very simple.
Cons
Reporting functions are not straightforward. It's best if users have billing experience and software like Excel to export reports. My office does not have Excel, which would be helpful.

“Worst EHR I have used
Pros
Intuitive, but that's the only good thing I can say about it. This requires 100 characters, but there's really nothing more to add.
Cons
Support is based in India, and there is no accountability for bad advice. Management is difficult to deal with unless you email the CEO.

“Easy To Use, Slow, Bad Design
Pros
It was easy to use and find what you needed. The software is fairly simple, and the ability to send electronic prescriptions is a plus.
Cons
It is very slow and takes forever to load! Integration with other systems is nearly impossible. The software interface is poorly designed, and the coding is messy. Downtime happens almost every week as the system goes down randomly.

“Decent layout but not great for Opthamologists
Pros
After learning the system, I had a complete understanding. The staff provided excellent training.
Cons
The ease of use for the doctor wasn't there when he had to use it himself. The graphical user interface could have been better.

“Good software for home health agencies
Pros
Easy to use; users can point and click; view previous assessments by other users; save and return to complete.
Cons
The system updates frequently. While they are usually scheduled, it's inconvenient as users cannot access it for a period, and it sometimes crashes.

“Not the best
Pros
I love that it has ePrescribe and eFax. It makes things very convenient. I also find the system very intuitive.
Cons
Eprescribe and Efax don't always go through, and there is no alert if they fail. This software requires two computer screens to work properly.

“ALLSCRIPTS EHR
Pros
This is a fantastic program with many good features. Our office uses it frequently. Good overall.
Cons
Sometimes, when you save patient information, it doesn't actually save. It can boot me out in the middle of entering patient data.

“Excellent For Nursing Home Referrals
Pros
We used to use Allscripts at our nursing homes. It's an excellent platform for staying in touch with hospitals and not missing potential referrals.
Cons
I don't have any major issues with this platform. At one point, it was difficult to manage as someone had to stay at the desk, but they later upgraded the mobile version and resolved that issue.

“Clinic use
Pros
The software is easy to use and adaptable for different specialty clinics. Also, support for the software is readily available.
Cons
It doesn't always integrate with other health systems. The obstetrical component sometimes locks and doesn't allow editing.

“Archaic Software
Pros
I like that we have the capability to ePrescribe and eFax. The insurance carrier is shown at the top of the screen, but the patient's ID number is missing. To handle anything related to the insurance company, the ID number is required, and the only place to locate it is within the SCANNED insurance documents in the chart viewer. This is quite troublesome.
Cons
The interface is unattractive, the software is quite large, so it's slow, and the worst part is it requires numerous clicks to accomplish anything!

“keeps going down
Pros
I suppose it must have been the most economical choice for the providers at the time. While it functions, it isn't very intuitive.
Cons
It feels like the software crashes every other week. They constantly have issues with the "cloud." Each doctor can create their own "short list," but these items don't update when testing changes, so requisitions end up in "hold" mode.

“Poor design, speed, support
Pros
Lots of downtime. At my institution, that meant we could revert to paper charting, which was more accurate and efficient.
Cons
It takes a lot of clicks to do anything. You need multiple screens to accomplish almost anything, with slow transitions between them. After 68 months of use, it seemed to get slower. Some parts couldn't be edited. I requested changes for typos and inaccuracies that were never fixed despite years of updates. Frequent freezes and crashes occurred with every update, leading to several days of downtime. Many updates were pointless, just changing screen colors, fonts, and layouts. Template outputs were overly wordy.

“ALLSCRIPTS PROGRAM
Pros
THE PHYSICIANS USED THIS PROGRAM EXTENSIVELY! THEY APPRECIATED THE EASE OF PLACING MEDICATION SCRIPTS FOR PATIENTS.
Cons
MOSTLY USED FOR PRESCRIBING MEDICATIONS. WE RARELY USED IT FOR ANYTHING ELSE. GOOD FOR THAT PURPOSE.

“Allscripts is not so simple
Pros
I like how doctors can send tests and scripts throughout the system, and you can see all the notes. You can also send off X-ray scripts.
Cons
It's not very intuitive, somewhat hard to understand, and gets confusing. The doctors also had a tough time adjusting to it.

“Time saving software makes clinic flow simple
Pros
It's incredibly easy to send prescriptions with the click of a button. No need for phone calls and waiting times on the phone.
Cons
Sometimes I have to take extra steps to verify the information was sent. If the software closes, I have to resend the prescription just to be sure.

“Effective but sometimes cumbersome
Pros
It does everything you need it to do - easy ordering, ePrescribing. Good interface across the clinic (front desk, MAs).
Cons
Closing out notes is frustrating. It flags items as incomplete even when they're done. Clicking the same buttons multiple times eventually gets it to accept the change.

“Allscripts and customer service
Pros
After 10 years of using Allscripts EHR, I don't think I see any advantages. Their sales representatives are very quick to send you a proposal for a contract.
Cons
Very poor customer service. The patient portal is difficult to use; we received numerous complaints from patients. Allscripts overcharges and binds customers with long contracts without delivering promised services. Their sales department is unethical.

“Best EHR
Pros
I have demoed and used most of the top-performing EMR/EHR software programs and found Allscripts to be the most user-friendly due to its functionality and ease of use. In my last four years working directly with office managers and physicians, I have found that despite being a bit pricier, Allscripts is generally the preferred system compared to other EMRs.
Cons
The biggest issue with Allscripts may be more about the industry than the software itself. The vast number of companies offering electronic health record solutions has saturated the market, making it hard for even quality software to stand out.
