“Efficient project workflow
Pros
I'm really impressed with how efficient this tool feels! From the initial quote to the final close, it guides a project step-by-step across sales, engineering, procurement and other departments. We're generating bills of materials far quicker per job than before and being able to monitor labor and material expenses throughout the project lifecycle helps me make smarter decisions. The training they provide is excellent. I'd suggest it to anyone in industrial automation because it's feasible to learn, very user-friendly and noticeably accelerates our project workflows.
Cons
I honestly can't point to anything about ETO that bothers me. It replaced our old approach of managing everything in spreadsheets and now we have a centralized hub where every bit of project information is kept together.

“Transformed manufacturing operations
Pros
It has truly transformed how we run our manufacturing operations. Tracking, costings and process schedules are now top-tier tools I depend on across the business and the whole team relies on them daily.
Cons
We've noticed that the Online ETO portal means the standalone app could become redundant. That change should make handling our everyday ETO tasks much smoother. In the past, a desktop computer was necessary to get into ETO but now the web portal lets any tablet or phone log in. It offers a simplified, expanding user menu that keeps improving as the TotalETO team continues building it and this evolution really helps align our daily process tracking and coordination across departments.

Pros
This tool records every item we order and I can easily pull up previous orders. This makes reordering parts for upcoming projects much simpler since we do that frequently at my company.

Pros
Integration with our CAD platform, greatWorks, is incredibly simple and releasing a BOM is feasible. I also find the real-time job costing feature provides significant value.

“Saving time with BOM and solidWorks integration
Pros
The integration of the Bill of Materials (BOM) with my CAD software, SolidWorks, proves to be a big time saver for me. I can release the BOM for a substantial assembly, consisting of one thousand distinct manufactured or purchased parts, in less than five minutes. Total ETO simplifies job tracking from the quoting stages all the way through to closing. I can effectively monitor costing and profit margins throughout the entire process.
Cons
I think an updated web version with Data Dashboards would be a great addition, and from what I last heard, their developers are actively working on it. They already have an online platform for Time-entry, so I imagine they will build upon that. I am genuinely excited to see how this will progress!

Pros
I have found everything we required conveniently consolidated within one software for our manufacturing of custom-built machines. The integration with SolidWorks and QuickBooks is smooth.

It would be very beneficial if they had accounting capabilities similar to QuickBooks built in, as it would remove the need for relying on additional software. Although it is not currently available, the integration was carried out seamlessly.

Pros
Core system is very flexible and the developers are responsive, they adjust the product to match my business needs.
Cons
One drawback I've noticed is that the user interface feels a bit outdated, giving off an Office 2010-style look and feel, even though it performs reliably. The team is currently building a new web-based system and front-end which they're planning to roll out module by module. “Quick and Smooth
Pros
The capability to manage the master BOM of released and unreleased materials is exceptionally helpful for me. Having used different BOM management software in the past, I was delighted to switch back. The parts database is easy to use, and the process of creating new parts is remarkably quick and smooth.
Cons
The ease and adaptability of the system can actually pose a weakness if the permissions are not managed correctly. Manufacturers with names that are easy to mistype or misspell can be entered into the system multiple ways. For example, Allen-Bradley might end up listed as Allen Bradley, AB, and so on. The new security settings may help prevent this from happening in the future.

Pros
I really value how easy and uncomplicated this product is to use. The entire system has been designed in a way that makes it very user-friendly, allowing me to go through its features with ease.
Cons
I feel that we are not fully utilizing the system to its maximum potential. I enjoy the integration with the 3D software. When set up correctly, it significantly reduces the time required to release a project.

“Too Much Flexibility
Pros
I love that I can access all the information regarding parts, purchase orders, and materials through the BOM features we utilize. It allows me to track items that the purchasing group has on order, the delivery times to our floor, and management's expectations of the final product leaving the facility, all of which can be easily viewed.

“It makes my work easier
Pros
Total ETO generates reports and enables me to locate any part number that has been utilized elsewhere.
Cons
There are times when the release button is grayed out for no apparent reason. Some of my colleagues can release the same station, or occasionally restarting ETO resolves the issue, allowing me to release again. If I switch network connections, such as from wired to Wi-Fi or a different network, while ETO is open, it logs me out.

“Time-saving BOM management
Pros
As an early-career engineer, the it platform made it fast and simple for me to edit the Bill of Materials for our projects. I appreciate that once I enter part details, the system automatically retains that information across other projects. That feature saves me a lot of time and prevents mix-ups because the component I'm looking for has often been used elsewhere before. I also really like how easy it is to build assemblies, bundling parts into a reusable group lets me repeat that set as many times as needed without re-entering everything.
Cons
So far the only real drawback I've run into is slow load times which I believe are mostly caused by my own network connection rather than the software itself. It's the only issue that's stood out during my experience.

“Impressive adaptability!
Pros
The ability to customize the software to meet our specific requirements, particularly with both Inventor and Microsoft Projects add-ins, has proven to be absolutely invaluable. This level of flexibility has allowed us to tailor the system precisely to the needs of our operations. What I find especially impressive is ETO's demonstrated willingness and capability to adapt Microsoft Project in ways that align perfectly with our unique processes.

“Time-saving features
Pros
As a newly appointed engineer, I find that the total ETO platform offers a quick and efficient way for me to edit the Bill of Materials for our projects. I like that it automatically saves part information across projects upon the initial entry. This feature is a significant time saver and helps to prevent confusion since it is likely that I need a part that has been previously used in another project. Another outstanding feature is the simple creation of assemblies that compile a group of parts, which can be replicated as necessary.
Cons
Based on my experience so far, I would say the only drawback I have is the slow loading speeds, but I believe this is likely due to network issues on my end.

“Third-party TMS dependency
Pros
It provides the level of management we need to control the inputs and outputs required for our engineered-to-order projects. The system has proven extremely valuable for our Supply Chain team with materials procurement, for Project Management through accurate job costing and for the Applications Engineering group when working with legacy data. It helps align both data flow and information sharing across teams. I also find that new releases are rolled out smoothly and can be implemented with very little IT support.
Cons
Because of how our business operates, we rely on a third-party TMS to handle labor tracking electronically. While it plugged into it without any trouble, I'd still rather see that functionality built directly into the software as a native feature.

“Stable interface and convenient
Pros
Interface is very simple and convenient which makes it easy for me to learn and to show others how to use. With each new release I don't have to relearn icons or workflows, they just keep layering on useful features and capabilities without changing the basics. In my experience it's been extremely stable on every workstation I've run it on. When questions arise the team treats them seriously and responds promptly. I also value the low staff turnover, it's nice to deal with consistent people who know our account.
Cons
Because it's a front end to a database, I find some of the data entry approaches feel more like database forms than spreadsheet-style input. Once you've learned the required parameters it's workable but I don't find it as immediately convenient as a traditional spreadsheet layout.

“Project and reporting efficiency
Pros
this tool works really well for managing projects and keeping track of the items used on each one. I've found the search tools excellent for locating past projects or parts orders which makes it much easier to quote parts accurately. The reports are very detailed and help with many tasks, such as pulling up costing information when I need to estimate a similar project. Once you get familiar with the system it surfaces all the information you need. Entering data feels user-friendly and is forgiving when corrections are required. Most functions are fairly convenient and the range of report options gives several ways to share or extract information depending on what I'm looking for. Overall it speeds up quoting and keeps everything organized for our team.
Cons
An improvement I'd like to see is the ability to link documents in areas other than the sales order module. For example, in Purchasing I would find it very helpful to attach supplier quotes directly to POs so all related documentation stays connected.
