“advanced job cost reporting system”
Pros
Switching from Sage 100 to Viewpoint felt like moving light years ahead for me. I now have excellent visibility into job costs even down to invoice attachments. Reporting stands out as a major strength since I can pull data on nearly every part of a job even at a detailed level. The AP automation with AI has significantly accelerated our entry process and I appreciate how the built-in approval workflows allow invoices to be reviewed instantly. This has helped me close month-end much faster. I also value how customizable the system is, with options to add fields buttons and reports that better fit our needs.
Cons
One drawback is that the software does not come with enough built-in financial statement reports. We were able to address that by using Insight Software's Spreadsheet Server but that comes with an added cost. On top of that, you also have to buy a license for consultants if they need access to the system in order to create custom reports.

“tough configuration usability issues”
Pros
There is a lot of flexibility in this ERP and I find it offers plenty of options to adapt the system to specific business needs. The customization capabilities are definitely one of the stronger points in my experience.
Cons
The way employee roles, security, jobs and similar settings are configured is confusing. Several modules could be redesigned to work more efficiently because there are far too many clicks involved. Support is also extremely slow and when replies do come by email, the explanations can be cryptic and written more for technical staff than actual users. Pricing is very high for the different role levels we need and when we moved to the cloud, the cost doubled despite it being called an upgrade. Creating custom reports is very difficult and the reporting UI in TC1 feels underwhelming. AP Automation also does not function like true AI as promised, we were told it would learn invoice details but after more than a year, it still has not learned much, if anything. Another major gap is that there is no place to enter a job number during the initial entry which is a significant oversight.

“Controlled batch approval reporting system”
Pros
Being able to customize reports, tailor programs and build dashboards is a big plus for me. I also appreciate that all data moves through a batch process with approvals before posting which gives me a strong sense of control.
Cons
Ever since Trimble acquired this tool, the user management and login process has become much more complicated. Then in March 2026, they forced everyone onto a named-user system. Our company had been using shared logins and we were basically left to figure it out on our own without enough time to prepare or make the transition properly.

“Declining support response experience”
Pros
It ties in well with operations and I find the range of features especially useful, particularly the equipment module and fixed asset functionality.
Cons
Support has been a real disappointment. When we first rolled the software out, it provided much better service but that has noticeably declined over the past year. Every time a ticket is submitted, there's an email warning about longer-than-usual wait times and that has been happening for months. Even when someone finally responds, they often still can't resolve the issue.

“outdated unreliable system”
Pros
We chose this software mainly for its job costing features and I was particularly interested in how it integrates with Procore.
Cons
Unfortunately, the interface feels buggy and outdated and the reporting tools are pretty limited. There also seem to be plenty of glitches throughout the system. On top of that, whenever we reach out by phone or chat for support, the response time averages around 30 days which is unacceptable. The Procore integration is inconsistent as well so we're always dealing with problems. I honestly would not recommend this product to anyone I care about.

Pros
It works well for both first-time users and experienced users and I have found that once accounting and reporting are properly set up, I can enter and retrieve information very efficiently. I also appreciate how easy it is to send invoices directly to customers.
Cons
Customer support can sometimes leave a case sitting in the queue for quite a while before responding and when they do, it may feel like they just point you to a knowledge base article even though you already checked it and needed more direct assistance.

Having access to the backend SQL database, along with the ability to customize front-end fields and tables, made a big difference for me. Once I became comfortable with the backend, I was able to tailor the system much more closely to our needs.

This software has been genuinely valuable for me in managing data and information services. I find the reporting very detailed and the wide range of customization options makes it highly adaptable.
Cons
For a business our size, the cost felt too high. “Expensive, complex, poor support system”
Pros
There is a huge amount of configurability available and I have seen that with the support of a full development team and subject matter experts, it can be tailored very effectively.
Cons
Support is usually about a 2/10 and too often the staff simply doesn't know the answers to basic questions. When issues reach that point, they tend to just shrug and close the ticket. We were pushed into adopting a half-baked cloud version that felt like a major step backward in performance, while costing five times more than what we were paying for the on-prem setup. Trimble is the parent company and we use other software from them for different purposes but this product is by far the worst. Unless you have a very large dev team, 5,000 extra labor hours and a huge budget, it's hard to see the value. Even then, the onboarding can take anywhere from 30 to 1,600 days and by the last 90% of the engagement you'll be deep into time-and-materials billing.

Pros
The forecasting features and PM tools have been valuable for our team and I have seen their impact on planning. Cons
There are too many programs and modules included that we never actually use and some of them feel repetitive. For someone new, it's not clear where to begin. It would really help to have better structured training paths, like separate training for PMs, AR, AP and other roles.

“great accounting backend system”
Pros
The accounting back end is great and very powerful and I find the customization options especially valuable.
Cons
It's not especially user-friendly for anyone without an accounting background. Support and maintenance fees go up significantly every year even when the software and support pricing for new customers may not rise the same way. Once they have you as a customer, they seem to count on the fact that switching isn't simple so the costs just keep climbing year after year. The longer you stay with them, the more you end up paying compared to a new customer. Support has dropped off sharply since the original Bain Capital buyout and hasn't improved much through the more recent ownership changes. There was a time when a callback came quickly, usually within 24 hours at most, no matter the issue. Now we mostly solve problems ourselves and come up with our own workarounds. We also used to install new releases without much concern because bugs were usually minor but now we avoid the latest versions until they've been out for a while.

It feels like a complete package and I appreciate the flexibility it gives when adjustments are needed. Since we customize a lot, I have seen it handle that very well.
Cons
As we keep adding more demands to it, the system naturally becomes more complicated to manage. There are plenty of options included that we do not really use or need even though I can see how other teams might appreciate them. I am also not very impressed with the form search feature. Most advanced users seem to recommend using the GRID search instead because the form search tends to come with too many problems.

Pros
One thing that really works well for me is the My Tasks feature since it allows me to arrange the menu in a way that fits my workflow. I also find the main menu well organized and the primary AP and AR screens are easy to navigate.
Cons
Help section is frustrating to use when you need answers. You have to search with exactly the right words or phrases and even then it often does not give a clear answer or simple step-by-step instructions for what you are trying to do. In AP invoice entry, a system update now allows an invoice to be entered above a subcontract or purchase order amount and sent to the PM for approval. It still will not interface into the system but now several people can end up wasting time on an invoice that previously would have been stopped at entry. Setting up T&M templates is also a headache and the help section does not make that process any easier.

“Well integrated field modules”
Pros
It works really well with the modules especially Team and Mobile Field Manager and I have found that connection to be a big advantage.
Cons
Crystal Reporting hasn't been our favorite part and we'd definitely like to see more reporting options added.
