friendly to use, but pto is tricky

Pros

It's very simple to use and I can have different supervisors approve, track or deny requests. I also love that it offers both an app and a website.

Cons

Honestly, the PTO tracking is confusing because our accumulation system is unique, but the sick time tracking is absolutely spot on.

Perfect except for hourly blocks

Pros

From setup through everyday use, it has been simple for us. Having a mobile app in addition to the web portal is a huge plus and our team quickly adopted it for submitting and tracking PTO. As a manager, I find approving requests to be simple and fast. The initial setup was painless too adding new hires or removing someone who's left is handled with no issue. I also like that it's billed month-to-month, since our headcount changes frequently and that flexibility works well for our organization.

Cons

My main problem with Day Off is that when we use the hourly setting, I can't submit a multi-day block in one go (for example, requesting five days of vacation). Right now, our team has to create a separate entry for each individual day. We rely on the hourly request feature rather than full-day selections because many of our flexible employees may need one to three hours on various days for appointments or personal matters. That means for a five-day vacation they must enter five separate entries, each showing an eight-hour shift (8:30am-4:30pm), which is time-consuming and repetitive.

A basic, affordable tracker

Pros

it's easy and user friendly. I only needed a no-frills tool to track employees' time-off requests and this does exactly that, all at a very affordable price.

Cons

here are some overall improvement ideas. Our company's needs are pretty basic and we make the system work as it is but I think a few tweaks would make the platform a lot better: give managers or employers the option to modify a date or a time-off request without triggering an automatic email or notification to the employee, show holidays and work-from-home days directly on the calendar while still letting staff submit requests for those days, change the calendar layout to a more common format that starts on Sunday (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday...) instead of beginning on Monday, because the current order has led to some staff entering the wrong dates when requesting time off and finally, let employees edit their own requests before approval in case they choose the wrong date or change their minds.

simple tool for two-step approval

Pros

I am happy that it's simple and focused, I wanted a vacation tracking tool that supports a two-step approval process and it also makes it simple for me and everyone on the team to check their remaining balance whenever they need to.

Cons

the reports are not great the way they look needs work and I think the report screen should be reworked because exporting can be clunky, sometimes it has issues and I spend extra time trying to find specific features in the settings.

smooth without heavy training

Pros

very user-friendly and simple to use, I didn't have to train our teamjust a short session and everyone was able to operate it.

Customizable and perfectly free

Pros

What I like most is being able to customize different leave types, the built-in messaging when staff request time off and the simple tracking that lets admins see everyone's time-off at a glance.

Cons

I'm on the free version and I love it because it handles everything I need. I do think the paid Day-Off plan probably has even more features that would add value.

Simple but not for flex hours

Pros

I find Day-off's layout incredibly simple, so our employees can use it easily and complete tasks quickly it's very efficient.

Cons

Easy reporting

Pros

It's incredibly easy to use and the reporting features give a useful summary that helps with tracking my PTO balances.

Cons

I can't submit a PTO request for a span of days, instead I have to enter the number of hours for each individual day of leave which becomes aissue when I'm trying to book something like 10 consecutive days off.

works good but app has many errors

Pros

We were really eager to roll out this app so our staff could request and coordinate time off themselves and to avoid having a team member constantly track everyone's remaining days off.

Cons

But I find the app frequently throws up errors and other complications, so we often have to spend time troubleshooting or calling customer support to get things resolved.

very confusing app

Pros

I appreciate that I can consistently see how many days I have left across all the different leave categories.

Cons

What I find confusing is how the app presents days off across categories it uses an X/Y layout where Y clearly represents the total days in that category but I can't tell whether X indicates days already taken or days still available. Also, whenever I try to request or edit a day off the selected leave type automatically switches to illness which forces me to keep changing it back. I'd much prefer it to remember and keep the current leave type so I don't have to redo that step every time.

Fixed our vacation record-keeping

Pros

We struggled to keep accurate records of vacation time especially when employees were terminated, this software finally fixed those problems for us.

Cons

Affordable but needs clearer terms

Pros

this app is an extremely affordable solution for monitoring vacation hours across my entire team and it also lets each employee log their one-off time off when needed.

Cons

I'd really like to see more options for customizing the setup and how it looks, some of the labels and terms used in the app took me a bit of time to understand and I had to figure out how to map them to real situations.

Balance tracking with broken reports

Pros

I love being able to keep track of my days off, including the balances and the ones that have been approved.

Cons

Sometimes the reports fail to generate correctly and it drives me crazy that the exported dates show up unreadable in Excel so I have to manually re-enter them.

Excellent app but lacks growth plan

Pros

I think it is an excellent appsimple to handle and quick to installhelping me cut out paperwork and stay more organized each day.

Cons

very easy to use

Pros

We are big fans of how simple it is to add and manage employee time off and because our teams are spread across the globe this supports setting distinct holiday calendars for each group.

Cons

I'd like it to offer more integrations with tools like O365 so it could automatically add our people to the company calendar, rather than forcing us to juggle several separate places to check.
