“built-in support but limited
Pros
There was plenty of built-in support and guidance so keeping the system running and maintained didn't require having a dedicated HRIS person on hand.
Cons
That simplicity came with a tradeoff.Itwasn't very customizable which madeittougher to adapt for more complex needs or changes over time.

“Amazing platform overall
Pros
After using it for many years I'm still a big supporter of this platform. The technology, interface, overall functionality and both implementation and customer support have been exceptional. The interface is well-structured and the system is easy to set up. The support team is really well-trained and professional. Once a business reaches the point where smaller HR options no longer meet its needs, this is easily the best choice in my view.
Cons
Honestly it's hard to call out any real negatives. The few minor challenges we ran into, like configuring complex codes or adjusting GL ledger formats, were mostly caused by our own setup decisions or just the usual change-management hurdles. Even then, the support team and our dedicated client reps were consistently available to help us think through solutions, share best practices and explain how other clients had handled similar unusual situations.

“Poor support
Pros
The software itself is still solid. My view hasn't changed when it comes to setup, maintenance and payroll processing and some of the recent updates have been a positive improvement.
Cons
Support has been the real problem because the customer service representatives don't seem properly trained. It works out better if you already understand every part of the system yourself or are comfortable relying only on the online Knowledge Base built into the software. Staff needs to be trained better.

“Can be customized
Pros
After getting familiar with the system, using it becomes very simple. You've to put in some effort to get the hang of everything. I also really appreciate how much it can be customized to fit our specific needs. That flexibility goes a long way in our field.
Cons
That same depth comes with a learning curve though. Because the system is so powerful, there's still a lot to figure out with extra modules like Performance and we're still working on fully using everything we purchased.

“Comprehensive solution with brilliant support
Pros
It has been a really positive experience because the platform feels very user-friendly. The service team has also been fantastic to work with and they always answer my questions. I really appreciate how many modules are included. Having everything available in one all-in-one product is a huge plus.
Cons
If I had to be a little picky some of the integration between modules could work better than it does now. It would be much more helpful if information could sync more easily from one module to another.

“Responsive support and competitive pricing
Pros
Despite a few bumps along the way, the team addressed them quickly, scheduled recurring check-ins with us and even reworked our contract to keep the pricing affordable and competitive. That level of support really stood out.
Cons
One ongoing frustration is email support. The turnaround for an initial reply can take anywhere from 1 to 5 business days and if the issue is more involved, the full resolution can stretch out even longer. Rest of the support is fine but email support can be improved.

Pros
It didn't take much effort to get started and moving around the system felt simple. I was able to figure out most of the platform by myself without needing a lot of help. Aside from the customer service and support side of things, the software itself was really solid.
Cons
The biggest downside was customer service and support. Whenever I called for help, the responses sometimes came with a bit of attitude and a lot of the time I was told someone would follow up after reviewing the issue. In several cases, I ended up having to call back myself just to get an update.

Pros
Paylocity has become my go-to HRIS system. It's incredibly simple to use as the interface is tidy and well-organized. The set up process was very simple from the start and everything went smoothly.

“Confusing payroll
Pros
The pricing is reasonable which is a plus. Whenever I've called support, I've been able to reach someone who could actually answer my questions. The mobile app also provides a lot of useful information and that part has been nice. But these are only the nitpicked pros I have.
Cons
Working with this payroll system has been incredibly convoluted and confusing especially considering I've been dealing with payroll software since the mid-1980s. The interface feels completely illogical and the online help isn't actually helpful. Time and attendance is fairly poor, there's very little real data validation and connecting timesheets to payroll is much harder than it should be. Even with two different people involved, the configuration still wasn't set up properly. On top of that, the reporting system is very unusual in a not-so-good way.

Pros
Right away the best part has been how simple the platform is to use and how many features it gives our company. The time tracking works really well too, it's simple, responsive and I haven't run into any lag or problems. We also get company updates and news through the app which has been genuinely helpful. On top of that, it feels like a really good value for what it offers.

“All-in-one HR powerhouse
Pros
Having payroll, time tracking and HR tools all together in one platform makes it really convenient to use. The interface feels very user-friendly and the wide feature set covers a lot in one place. I especially appreciate the automation tools and reporting options because they cut down on manual work and save a lot of time. It also does a solid job of helping manage employee information and making day-to-day operations more efficient overall.
Cons
Getting started with it can take some time especially for new users who are not used to working with HRIS platforms. At first some features are a bit tricky and a few workflows feel less user-friendly than they should. Better training resources or stronger onboarding support would make the initial experience much more manageable.

Recent updates to the iPhone app have made handling work while I am out and about much more convenient. As a supervisor, it's also become much simpler to access and manage punch corrections from my phone.

Pros
Once you get familiar with the navigation, the platform is pretty easy to use. The regular updates are genuinely useful and the added modules can make a big difference in productivity while also improving record accuracy.
Cons
When problems come up, they are not always fixed as quickly as they should be. Rolling out a new module can also be difficult and there really are not any tips-and-tricks resources so a lot ofithas to be learned by trial and error. “payroll accuracy is spot on
Pros
I find it very user-friendly for employees, managers and admins alike. The workflow from onboarding to daily tasks and even less common situations is well thought out and consistent. We moved to it in 2022 and over the past four years the platform software and mobile app have continued to improve through frequent updates. One thing I really like is that those updates don't seem to come from Paylocity alone as they clearly take client and user survey feedback into account. It has saved us a lot of time both in the field and in the back office when it comes to payroll tracking and making accurate payments. Compared with our previous payroll processor, we've seen a significant drop in extra payroll costs because payments are being handled correctly through this tool.
Cons
My biggest frustration withitis the feature limitations that come with being under a large TPA umbrella. We have four company entities but because we operate through a TPA, three of those companies sit under their umbrella. As a result, we cannot handle things like password resets, employee information edits or direct deposit changes on our own. Instead, we have to submit a request and wait for their team to completeit.Itreally feels like an admin for a specific company ID should be able to manage users within that company and have full control over their own organization. The explanation we get is that giving us that access would also expose all the other companies under the same TPA. Still, itseems like there should be a better way to separate those permissions.

Pros
Overall it was easy to use, as it didn't take much time to learn. Payroll processing is automated and built with plenty of checks and balances which makes the whole process feel reliable. The preprocessing reports are especially useful and the Comparison report has been a big help when it comes to quality assurance.
Cons
Putting together custom reports can be a bit challenging although the Report Writing team has been very supportive. There are times when different service reps give different answers especially around newer features like OB3. Also, the Comparison report would be even more useful ifitincluded hour-to-hour comparisons since right nowitonly compares earnings.

After moving to Paylocity in 2025, we've really appreciated how much independence the platform gives us. It lets us handle a lot in one place, including recruiting, HR profiles, reporting, payroll and more. It feels like a strong value for the cost and the new AI chatbox has been genuinely useful when we need help figuring out how to navigate the system.
Cons

Pros
Running payroll takes much less time for us now which has been a big benefit. The customer service team is usually very responsive, whether we reach out by phone or email. Their integrations with other software have also worked reliably and without issues.
Cons
Getting started with the onboarding process was not very thorough so we ended up having to figure out quite a bit on our own through trial and error, research and follow-ups with Customer Support. “broken syncing and messy workflows
Pros
Having recruiting, onboarding, employee records, expenses, surveys and more all under one system really has the potential to be a huge advantage for an HRIS. The all-in-one setup is exactly what makes the platform appealing and we especially love the community board.
Cons
The biggest problem is that too many parts ofitdo not function properly together or sync the way they should across modules. During onboarding, information that gets entered does not carry over into HR once the employee is onboarded so we have to manually re-enter details like OT exemption status or an hourly rate on a salaried employee. Updates made in HR also do not flow into expense or time and labor consistently. For example, if a supervisor is changed in HR, that same supervisor does not automatically update in time and labor or expense. Time-off balances also do not calculate or accrue correctly. Rehiring is another major issue becauseitdoes not work properly at all, often creating duplicate employee profiles or causing problems since the information does not feed correctly into user access, time and labor and other areas. On top of that workflows are far too complicated for tasks that should be simple. That was one of the main reasons we moved toit, yet we still have not been able to use workflows the way we hoped. I really wish there were just a basic document acknowledgment option. In Paychex, we could upload a policy or file, hit launch, senditto the right people, collect acknowledgments and be done. I miss that functionality a lot.

“quick support
Pros
From the employee side, I must say it is user friendly and easy to use. It includes just about all the tools we need from an HRIS which makes it a very capable platform overall. The customer support has also been a big plus as when I reach out, I am able to speak with knowledgeable people who actually understand the system, listen carefully and dig into issues when answers aren't immediately available. Another thing I really appreciate is how open Paylocity is to feedback and product suggestions because the platform continues to improve and evolve.
Cons
On the admin side, the back-end setup is definitely less user friendly than the general employee-facing features.Itcan take some digging to figure out where to go and how to make certain configuration changes even though I do appreciate that almost everything is customizable. At the same time, whileit's a positive thatitacts on customer suggestions and keeps improvingit, those updates can sometimes lead to underlying functionality changing with very little warning. When that happens, we have to adapt how we useit and in some cases even update company policies or retrain leaders. Reporting could also be more simple.

Pros
Switching to Paylocity after spending several years on different ADP platforms felt like a complete turnaround. Pros
A big plus with Paylocity is how user-friendly the application is, along with the level of customer service behind it. My service team has been excellent. “Pretty impressed with this tool
Pros
From a director-level viewpoint, I am particularly impressed with how Paylocity brings payroll, HR, benefits and workforce management together in one platform. That kind of integration really strengthens data accuracy, improves reporting and gives clients more meaningful strategic insight. On top of that the customer support has been excellent and the system is user-friendly.
Cons
Reporting customization is one area whereitcould be better. When I need very specific reports, itcan take a few extra steps or require workarounds to get exactly what I want. Even so, working through that has helped sharpen my problem-solving skills.

“the bugs are a daily headache
Pros
The payroll side is fairly easy to use and I appreciate how quickly I can put together just about any report I need.
Cons
The ongoing bugs are the biggest frustration. There seems to be something initnot working almost every day and right now the benefits module is causing issues. We also run into problems getting benefits and spending accounts to work together since the modules operate too separately and don't communicate well.

“customer service is top notch!!
Pros
One of the best things about it is the customer service. Every representative I have worked with has been knowledgeable, well trained and quick to help. Whenever I call with a question or send an email, I get a prompt response. The newer payroll process has been a really positive update as well. It's user friendly, offers a variety of integrations and makes payroll much more manageable. On top of that it provides a strong selection of reports that can be run as-is or customized as needed. The Time and Labor feature works very well across our three office locations and integrates nicely with payroll.
Cons
I am completely satisfied with the features we currently use init. I haven't had a need to use modules such as workflows, performance or recruiting so I cannot really give a meaningful opinion on those areas. As far as the functions we do rely on, I honestly don't have any drawbacks to mention.Ithas met all of our needs and even gone beyond them.

“Has the best HR tools
Pros
Switching our company over to Paylocity was very easy and the platform has been very user friendly from the start. As an HR and Payroll Manager, it gives me access to everything I could need and then some through the different parts of the software. The custom reporting features have been especially useful and have saved me a lot of time. Whenever questions come up, the support team is knowledgeable, responsive and always helpful.
Cons
This has only come up a handful of times over the past five years but communication around certain changes has occasionally been lacking which can be frustrating. I also wish some ofitscomponents were offered at a lower price so we could take advantage of more of them. Since we are a non-profit, the per-employee pricing has meant we've had to be selective and focus only on the features that bring the most value.

At this point I really don't have any drawbacks to mention. My experience in all the important areas has been consistently positive.

“support is second to none
Pros
Having everything in one system has made a big difference for our company. Paylocity covers all of our needs in one place, from recruiting and training all the way through offboarding and it has supported us well at every stage.
Cons
The only downside has been during Benefits open enrollment over the past two years. I ended up working with someone who had very little experience which made the process frustrating and took up a lot more time thanitshould have.

“getting better time to time
Pros
One thing I really appreciate is the ongoing improvement. The verification process keeps becoming simpler and more efficient over time and I also really enjoy the report tracking and analytics features.
Cons
A downside is that some reports are only available in PDF format. I would rather have those reports in Excel or CSV so I can filter sections more easily and get cleaner results.

“open enrollment issues outweigh integration
Pros
I like that everything is consolidated into one integrated platform is a real advantage. We use Recruiting, Onboarding, HRIS, Benefits through bswift, COBRA with WEX, along with Section 125 spending accounts and the Compensation modules so it's helpful to have all of those services connected in one system.
Cons
The toughest part has been the annual benefits process during Open Enrollment. Working with the new team for our 2026 OE turned into one of the most difficult experiences of my career, with repeated errors, workflow problems, incomplete tasks and far too many calls and emails just to get things resolved. There also doesn't seem to be a clear way to escalate concerns beyond the same team when that team is the source of the issue. Reporting is another weak spot. There are plenty of options available but not always the specific ones we actually need. The custom report writer is also difficult to work with unless you take the time to go through training courses. On top of that account and sales managers change without any advance notice andit's uncommon for an account manager to proactively check in or offer support. Most of the outreach feels reactive to submitted issues or focused on selling an additional service.

“user-friendly tools and reliable app
Pros
Using this platform has been very easy. The reporting features are simple enough to work with without needing any IT knowledge and our employees consistently say the mobile app is reliable and user friendly.
Cons
At times, itcan be a little glitchy during payroll processing.Ithas not caused any major problems since I usually run payroll well ahead of the cutoff and logging out and back in typically clearsitup.

“The best value for the price!
Pros
Everything about is very user-friendly so getting around the platform doesn't take much effort. Having so many functions in one place is a big plus and the pricing is very competitive compared with other options. On top of that the Sales team genuinely seems to care about their customers which made a strong impression.
Cons
One downside is that a few tasks clients used to be able to manage on their own are no longer available directly so now you have to contact support for them.
