“the top choice for case management software
Pros
There are so many great things I could say about CaseFox, but to keep it short, their integration with multiple platforms is truly impressive. It makes our job so much easier, especially when working with clients who use different platforms like Microsoft, Google, Dropbox, PayPal, and others. The vast array of features and functions covers all of our needs and then some. It is very versatile, and with all its time tracking and case management capabilities (across mobile, tablet, web with two different UIs, text service), our team's billing accuracy has improved by over 15%. That is pretty amazing! And just to add, it is super simple to use.
Cons
Let me start by saying we have found workarounds, and things are running smoothly! That said, I wish there were more customization options for users. They offer five settings, which is great, and you can toggle certain functions on or off for specific users like office secretaries. Still, having more customization options would really benefit our particular workflow.

“better quality and value than competitors
Pros
I love everything about this software! Billing and invoicing are a breeze. It generates all kinds of reports and even exports to Excel, which I find incredibly useful. Plus, they offer two user interfaces, the classic and the modern. The modern one is better than what most competitors have, but I still have a soft spot for the classic. I have tried free trials of MyCase, Bill4Time, Practice Panther, Clio, you name it, but CaseFox is hands-down the best. I will not be switching anytime soon.
Cons
Like other legal billing software, I wish CaseFox had a fully integrated accounting suite. A built-in system like QuickBooks would be ideal. While it does integrate with QuickBooks and Xero, it would be more convenient to have everything on one platform. Other than that, keep up the great work!

“loved using casefox
Pros
We like how easy it is for all employees to use, each having their own log-in to run personal reports. We also love that it is web-based, so data is stored securely off-site, allowing for access from home or while traveling.
Cons
The only issue we have come across is the inability to set different billing structures for different clients. For example, some clients may have a retainer, so we need to track the trust account balance and display that on invoices. Others, like defense clients, are billed strictly by the hour. However, the invoicing settings seem to be applied universally and cannot be customized for individual clients.

“Works really well for us
Pros
As a solo practitioner, I find CaseFox very easy to use, and it keeps everything well-organized. The mobile app is fantastic for checking things when I am not near my computer.
Cons
I wish the system had automatic backups to the cloud or another solution.

“great features at an amazing price point
Pros
I tried out free trials of several different billing and case management systems, and at my former firm, I personally used one of the leading software products in the industry. Without a doubt, CaseFox is a far superior product. It is incredibly easy to set up, and it integrates perfectly with my Google suite and LawPay. I use Google Drive for document management, but they also integrate with Dropbox and other cloud services. CaseFox links my team to the same documents through the software, so we are always working on the same version, with no overlap. Billing is super easy, and it is directly connected to LawPay, so there is no need to jump between different platforms for billing or confirming payments. There is also a client portal, though I do not use it as much as I would like, but my clients who do say it is simple to log in and use. I also appreciate that I can purchase add-on services like more storage or additional users without being forced to pay for features I do not use. Customer service has always responded promptly. The pricing of CaseFox is what really sets it apart. I was concerned when I first signed up that the lower cost meant the product would not be as good. I had already accepted that I was not willing to pay the high fees other software companies charge, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that CaseFox is just as good, if not better, than more expensive products, all at half the price.
Cons
The only problem I occasionally encounter is how easy it is to use. Most functions, such as billing and setting up a file, are easy. However, linking my Google Drive or bank accounts has been more complicated, requiring a more in-depth look into the software. Setting these up was not as intuitive, but customer service helped, and my younger colleague figured it out.

“helped me dramatically improve billing accuracy
Pros
As a solo practitioner who only takes on a few cases each year, the time-tracking and billing features were critical for me. In the past, I often ended up not billing for time I failed to record right away because I was concerned my estimates would not be accurate. CaseFox's app makes it so easy to track time with its timer and other tools. The invoices are accurate and look very professional. It also helps me track my trust account, showing additions and withdrawals for each client.
Cons
The online training was not very comprehensive, but the software is fairly easy to navigate, and it provides good examples to follow.

“with a few updates, it could suit forensic investigators better
Pros
The software's integrations with office tools are very helpful. It works well with Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, Dropbox, and more.
Cons
The tool would offer more flexibility if there were two distinct environments, one for the lawyer and one for the expert. Many tasks that the forensic expert handles do not overlap with the lawyer's responsibilities, and it would be helpful to hide the unnecessary ones. Plus, the expert is often hired by a third party and works for the lawyer but invoices the third party. The software's data model does not recognize this setup well, and the workarounds are clunky.

“Smooth integrations with everyday tools
Pros
The internal linkages work well for me and I appreciate how smoothly it integrates with tools like MS Office, QuickBooks and Dropbox.
Cons
In my workflow, the tool would feel more flexible if there were separate environments for lawyers and experts. I find that forensic experts don't need to interact with every task, even though some overlap with legal work. It would also help if the system handled cases where the expert invoices a third party rather than the lawyer, since the current workarounds feel clunky.

“Responsive support and constant improvements
Pros
From what I've seen, it covers everything I need. I've experienced customer support as quick, reliable and very responsive and I can tell the team is constantly working to improve the product.
Cons
For me, the only thing I'd change is having more control to rearrange the user interface. It works fine as it is but a bit more flexibility there would be nice.

“Useful free plan for case management
Pros
What I like most is that it includes all the basic case management features I need in the free plan. It gives me plenty of time to decide if it's the right fit for my practice before committing to a higher tier.
Cons
From my experience, it is going through a redesign and while it doesn't cause major problems if I stick to one version, switching to the new version creates issues. I've noticed it lacks some features from the old version and reformats certain reports.

“No training needed to get started
Pros
For me, it's extremely easy to use and doesn't require weeks of study or training to understand. I don't have time to read manuals, so I needed something I could jump into right away and this fit perfectly since I use it all day, every day.
Cons
At this point, I honestly can't think of anything the program is missing for my needs.

“Affordable basic billing and case tracking
Pros
Before adopting this software, we were manually entering billing details and billing used to take about two days. I don't think it's perfect or meant for everyone but for my family law and criminal defense practice, it's been excellent for the basics. I still use the old format since I switched back quickly after seeing the new one but for the price point, I feel it's hard to beat unless you're looking for heavy automation.
Cons
In my usage, there have been some issues with the Safari browser and the timekeeper. I mostly use PCs so it's not a big problem for me but I did notice tracking stopped when the computer went to sleep, like during calls.

“Reliable and easy billing tool
Pros
In my daily work, I rely on this tool constantly. It has completely changed how I handle billing and accounting and I also use it to keep track of tasks on my to-do list. I find it very easy to track time spent on specific projects.
Cons
For my work, the one change I'd request is the ability to reallocate expenses to just one person when two people are sharing the cost of my services.

“Supports invoices and time tracking
Pros
I appreciate that it supports LEDES invoice submissions and works well for tracking time and generating invoices. I also find it easy to add or remove users and set different billing rates for different clients and matters.
Cons
For me, invoice customization is limited and I sometimes have to do extra formatting when exporting invoices to Word before finalizing them.
