“custom workflows save hours”
Pros
Being able to customize the system and set up tracking and auto-billing the way we need has been a real time-saver. It also connects well with other tools and the mobile app makes it very convenient to manage things while away from the office.
Cons
Setting up task automation and building document creation tools takes a lot of effort and can be pretty labor-intensive.

“Unmatched support”
Pros
The level of customer service is unmatched. Help is always available and the team consistently goes above and beyond when support is needed. Clio's culture also seems to put the right people in place to build thoughtful solutions for legal practices.
Cons
The weaker area is still the accounting program. It has definitely improved over time but it's not as powerful as I'd want it to be.

“Suitable for a solo practitioner”
Pros
Time management has been the biggest benefit for me with this product. It really suits a solo practitioner because all the essential tools are built in which makes it much easier to stay organized and be more successful overall.
Cons
Because it's such a solid product, there's definitely a bit of a learning curve especially for someone like me.

“Right choice for launching my practice”
Pros
Getting my law practice off the ground was much more manageable with this software. It lets me track my client pipeline, stay on top of follow-up tasks, use automated task lists based on the case type and handle online intake through my website integration.
Cons
I'm still in the process of adding documents to use as templates and working out the most efficient way to manage that part. Thankfully, the support team has been incredibly helpful throughout.

“Makes us more efficient”
Pros
Running our firm with it has been really efficient. Whether we're handling a case or taking care of administrative work, it keeps everything in one place so there's no need to keep switching between different programs. More recently, I've realized just how much its features can be tailored to fit specific management needs. On top of that, it's very simple to learn.
Cons
I am trying to figure out what the downside would be.

“Great experience of 10 years”
Pros
At this point, it's hard to single out just one best thing because I honestly couldn't run my practice without this software. It's user friendly and quick to learn and I rely on nearly every part of it every single day. I've been using it for over 10 years and during that time my firm has grown from just me as a solo attorney to a team of four attorneys plus paralegals and clerks. Clio has made that growth feel completely smooth.
Cons
Honestly I have no complaints at all. This software has been essential to every part of my practice.

“helped us grow our practice”
Pros
This tool has really helped us grow our practice and manage a large number of clients without losing track of things. The custom fields are especially valuable because they let us monitor our cases in ways that fit our specific workflow.
Cons
You can't apply multiple filters when viewing matters, like selecting two different practice areas at the same time.

“Allows me to view all my cases”
Pros
Being able to view all my cases in one place, keep notes directly there and use the dashboard has been really helpful.
Cons
I do wish it connected with my email automatically so I wouldn't have to keep forwarding emails all the time.

“Rough layout”
Pros
Moving over from Timeslips was simple and connecting it with LawPay was easy as well.
Cons
The reporting options are so limited that they're barely useful. Almost everything needs to be exported into Excel and the overall look and presentation feel pretty unpolished.

“Manages billing and time tracking well”
Pros
Keeping up with client invoices and tracked hours works really well with it. It does a very good job of handling both billing and time tracking.
Cons

“Support team never disappoints”
Pros
Feels very user-friendly and the platform is simple to work with. It also offers an excellent online catalog of learning tools which has been really helpful. The phone support has been fantastic as well. Not once has anyone at Clio support brushed me off with something like, "That's a Microsoft issue, not a Clio issue." Instead, they consistently dig in and help me work through whatever problem I'm calling about.
Cons
Since we practice immigration law, we rely on third-party providers for certain integrations. Those vendors often claim their programs work well with Clio but that really hasn't been the case for us. I'm still waiting for the day when a third-party provider delivers a Clio integration that actually works properly.

“Cohesive workflow”
Pros
The platform feels user-friendly, cohesive and easy to work in.
Cons
Internal messages don't let you attach a file unless it's tied to a matter which makes it harder to keep staff communication fully inside the system. In Clio Grow, it also doesn't provide cold lead alerts the way Pipeline does. The client portal comes across more like a document drop-off area, without a separate folder structure like MyCase offers. On top of that, task lists don't let me prioritize or sequence tasks unless they have a trigger date.

“Lets me monitor my staff's performance”
Pros
Having this tool means I can keep my entire practice in one system. It covers everything from client intake and custom fields to communication, document collection, calendaring, scheduling and billing so it has become an absolute lifeline for my law firm. I'm also able to assign tasks to my staff and keep an eye on our performance metrics.
Cons
My only complaint is that Grow which handles client intake, is separate from Manage, even though the two do connect and share information.

“Well designed product”
Pros
Its well designed and simple to work with. It comes packed with features, connects nicely with a lot of other software and I rarely run into bugs or glitches. The team behind it has been excellent to work with and it's clear they keep investing in updates and improvements. There's also a large user community which makes collaboration and shared learning much easier.
Cons
It does cost more than some competing options although I've been happy to pay the premium because the product quality has been worth it. The split between Clio Grow and Clio Manage also feels a little unusual.

“Feels natural”
Pros
Getting around Clio feels very natural and the features are user-friendly enough that day-to-day tasks are simple to manage.
Cons
One thing that's still missing is the ability to reconcile bank accounts and properly close out the year. I'd also love a more integrated Office365 connection so we don't have to keep reconnecting and reauthenticating the Outlook email plugin.

“Cuts down paperwork”
Pros
Running my practice feels completely different with this system. It keeps everything organized and I can check the status of my matters with just one click. It has also cut down my paper use a lot since I no longer have to keep printing documents all the time. The electronic signature tool makes closing transactions much faster and far more convenient.
Cons
A few features can still be confusing to navigate. Every now and then, the way I set up my matter columns changes on its own and I end up having to format them again. I'm also still unclear on how open and closed matters are being sorted so I sometimes have to search for what I need which slows things down more than I'd prefer.

“Fantastic integrations and interface”
Pros
This cloud-based platform has a really nice interface and we've been especially happy with how well it connects to QuickBooks Online and NetDocuments.
Cons
On the feature side, it still needs more support for flat-fee matters and converting them to hourly rates. Since that functionality is limited, our admin team ends up spending a lot of time on manual work that could be handled more efficiently elsewhere. It also makes accurate profitability reporting difficult because that feature is missing.

“Terrible customer service and refund issues”
Pros
The timekeeping feature for tracking hours works very well. Honestly that's the only real benefit this software had compared with another case management platform we looked at.
Cons
Customer service was very poor, the system felt less organized than our other case management software, MyCase, it cost a bit more and getting a refund was impossible.

“The team has been very helpful”
Pros
Using this software feels very user-friendly and every time I log in I feel confident navigating all of its features. Whenever assistance is needed, Clio's support team responds right away and is always helpful. I'd absolutely recommend it to others.
Cons
Honestly I only have positive things to say about Clio!
