“best choice for integrated trust and accounting”

Having both trust and general accounting combined with simple bank reconciliations is what makes it the best choice for us.

The system is user friendly and simple to navigate. Plus the support team is amazing. I have suggested new features a few times and they often add them or show me an existing way to do what I need. In short it does everything it promises and I am very happy with it.

Cons

Getting the hang of it took a little while but I was new to this kind of system. Now that I am used to it so the layout makes sense. Their support team is amazing too and they also have helpful videos that walk you through common issues.

CosmoLex software is simple to operate, I can log in from any location and the support team provides excellent help.

The pricing feels a bit steep for a solo practitioner or a very small firm like mine.

I really value the seamless connection with OneDrive for documents and the built-in system for handling all our billing.

As per me the core parts of the program were practically useless because they were missing some very basic, essential functions.

It combines the accounting tools and features we needed with the day-to-day management of our law practice. Whenever something comes up, the support team handles it quickly and efficiently.

A few customization options aren't very user friendly so we occasionally need help from customer support. Fortunately their team is quick to reach and helpful when assistance is needed.

CosmoLex doesn't take much effort because the interface is clear and user friendly. Another plus is that helpful guidance is available right where it's needed throughout the system.

It does cost more than some competing products which can make it a tougher choice on price alone.

I find it simple to use, also it's reasonably priced and it includes the features I need to run my business.

Up to this point I haven't run into anything that I am unhappy with.

When new features are released, I do run into bugs from time to time. That said their response time is excellent and customer support has been very helpful whenever it happens.

Starting my own practice felt a lot more manageable with CosmoLex. One thing I really like is that I don't have to rely on separate accounting software to handle the financial side.

Cons

I'd still love a simpler way to run conflict checks. Such as a separate tab just for adding consultations for conflict-checking only would make that process much better.

Pros

Everything about the software is really user friendly and getting around it is very easy too. Any report I need is right there and quick to access.

Cons

At this point I really have nothing I am unhappy with. The only thing that might be useful is having the option to print all invoices in full detail on a single invoice when they haven't been paid in full.

Pros

Being web-based matters a lot to me because it lets me log in and work from anywhere. Compared with the accounting software I used before, CosmoLex has a much more user friendly interface. It also fits what I need by combining accounting and practice management in a single platform.

Cons

A couple of features I'd still like to have are a client intake form although it may already be included and I just haven't come across it yet and a scheduling tool that lets clients view my open time slots and choose what works for them. That said the Outlook sync is definitely helpful.

“A complete tool overall”

Pros

Having virtually everything in a single program has been the biggest plus and the system is very simple to use. Moving our files and data over was also easy since CosmoLex handled that part for me.

Cons

There used to be an option to sort documents by tabs like date modified, name and similar fields. Since that feature was removed, finding documents inside a folder has become much harder especially when there are a lot of files. I'd really like to see that feature brought back.

“broken syncing and poor support”

The biggest attraction was having several tools in one platform such as time tracking for billing, accounting similar to QuickBooks with automatic account feeds, plus email archiving and practice management. The timekeeping side works well but you'd expect mixed fees or alternative fee arrangements to be easier to handle especially since those billing models are becoming more common in the legal field.

Calling the accounting system disappointing would be putting it lightly. The bank feed repeatedly stops syncing without any warning and we've spent a huge amount of time this year reconciling our books because of problems it won't take responsibility for, saying it's their third-party vendor's fault. We also recently had to transfer a file and when we tried to export emails, we discovered the only option was to open each one, print it to PDF and save it manually. Had that been made clear in the marketing materials, we never would have relied on this tool for email storage in the first place. When I questioned this, I was basically told to download the emails from Outlook directly which really makes you wonder why we're paying for it at all. On top of that customer service has been consistently awful. The chat feature used to be useful but it now seems outsourced and mostly just points users to help articles. We also keep hearing promises that feedback will lead to improvements, yet the changes made over the past few years have only made the software less useful. The integrations we were told were coming still haven't appeared and they still cannot seem to resolve the syncing issues with their vendor.

“Has everything my firm needs”

Pros

At first I hesitated to sign up for a practice management platform but now I cannot imagine working without CosmoLex. It gives me everything I need in one place, from time tracking to accounting and having it all right at my fingertips has been incredibly valuable.

Cons

Every now and then, I run into some accounting-related challenges especially when trying to write off charges or make changes to older transactions. That said I am not convinced this is really a flaw with the tool as much as it may be my own lack of knowledge around proper accounting practices.
