overpriced and predatory product

Pros

The software suite has a lot of features but the interface is so complex that they charge a huge amount for their team to train you on it.

Cons

Its cost is way too high and you cannot even try a demo first, it is a bad fit for small firms but they won't admit that. And the customer support is the worst I have ever dealt with. If you have a subscription issue, good luck as they will use legal tactics instead of working with you. I had to threaten arbitration just to cancel their barely-functional AI product and even then they only gave me a useless credit instead of a refund. So buyers should be very careful.

Not built for investigators at all

Pros

I can see its potential if it had templates designed for investigators. Though it is really built for lawyers, so it will take a lot of time and effort to adapt it for our work.

Cons

This platform is NOT for investigators. They do not provide any relevant templates or help you set up the system for your work. Instead they try to upsell you to their sister company for the implementation.

A steep and expensive learning curve

Pros

We can fax and text directly from the system and if you invest the time to build your templates, it does a good job of guiding you through the necessary steps and requests for a case.

Cons

The learning curve was incredibly steep. Unless you have a great in-house tech person, I would not recommend it. For instance it calls cases "projects" and the calendar is so bad you are forced to use Outlook. But if you enter an event in Outlook, it won't show up in the software unless you apply a special code. The document assembly is also very time-consuming and lacks a basic Save As function. I wish I had known all this before investing so much time and over $60,000. I am still using my old Word-based system and will until I retire, leaving the newer attorneys to deal with this tool.

$60,000 lesson in empty promises

Pros

The sales process was disappointing, they made a lot of promises that didn't quite match the reality. In my opinion, this product might only work well for a large enterprise law firm that has the in-house technical team to handle all its complex features

Cons

They charged us $60,000 upfront for services and add-ons that were never used, set up or even deployed to a live environment.

Horribly difficult and useless product

Pros

There is nothing good to say. The product is horrible and incredibly difficult to use unless you are highly tech-savvy. The company should be ashamed of the poor quality and terrible customer support.

Cons

It is way too difficult to use and the AI is horrible. You have to pay for training and even after paying $750 for an hour of help, you get no real support. I asked for a month to month license and foolishly did not verify it was set up correctly. Now I am billed monthly for this terrible product thats useless for immigration cases. I tried to get out of the contract but they did not care, so I'm stuck paying for a horrific product every month. So buyer stay away as far as you can!

Terrible service!

Pros

Unfortunately I have nothing positive to add. Our experience was a zero out of ten. I would never use them again.

Cons

Their service was terrible. They never responded to our problems and the constant staff turnover meant nothing ever got resolved. I would never use them again.

Flexible management tools

Pros

I've been using Filevine for about four years now and I've seen it grow so much during that time. At first, we weren't thrilled about using it but now it's a system we've really customized to suit our needs. Honestly, I love how customizable it is. Every firm stores client files differently and having the ability to adapt the software to fit how we work is such a huge benefit. I even recommend it to others now.

Cons

I've noticed that It can be slow or kick users out more often than other sites. The search feature is pretty broad but it's not the most efficient. It doesn't always show the best result first, so you sometimes have to dig around for what you need.

Solid software, terrible support

Pros

Honestly, It is a great case management tool. Just be sure to carefully plan your setup, though because changing things later can be a bit tricky. But overall, it's a solid tool with plenty of add-ons available.

Cons

Customer service has been terrible. It's like shouting into the void when I send an email, no one responds. We've had several account managers in the three years we've used them but the experience has been the same every time. Billing is also awful. I'm still getting charged for modules I canceled years ago, and I've shown proof of the cancellation but they just keep sending reminder invoices.

Overall good tool!

Pros

Navigating Filevine is super easy and the ability to customize it for our firm's specific needs has been a game-changer.

Cons

The search bar is annoying. If you misspell a client's name or leave out a middle initial, it won't suggest similar results. I've always thought that was strange.

Fantastic tool

Pros

I really appreciate how simple it is to pin important notes and add to them within a file. It's a small feature but it helps a lot.

Cons

Some information just won't copy over to companion files, which is frustrating.

Solid CMS but not perfect

Pros

Filevine's customizability is such a huge plus. It really lets us tailor everything to fit the exact needs of our firm.

Cons

It's rare that I can speak directly with someone at Filevine if I need help with a new feature or service. They always refer me to third-party vendors, which is a problem because I'm paying for customer support and I can't reach the people who are actually developing the software.
