FindLaw Features

The platform serves as a cornerstone legal research software, offering high-speed access to a massive repository of court opinions. This includes published decisions from the U.S. Supreme Court, all federal circuit courts, and various state-level appellate courts, providing the foundational precedents required for thorough case preparation.

See How It Works

FindLaw provides unified access to the United States Code (USC) and the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), as well as the complete U.S. Constitution. These tools allow researchers to track legislative language and federal guidelines across all practice areas, ensuring that statutory analysis is integrated directly into the discovery process.

See How It Works

FindLaw features dedicated research portals for all 50 states, allowing users to drill down into localized statutes, constitutions, and court rules. This specialized focus ensures that researchers can navigate the nuances of local law in jurisdictions like New York, California, or Texas, which is critical for maintaining compliance and accuracy in multi-state litigation.

See How It Works

To supplement primary law research, FindLaw hosts a network of legal blogs (such as Courtside and Practice of Law) that provide expert analysis on emerging legal trends and significant court rulings. This feature functions as an intelligence layer, helping professionals understand the practical implications of new precedents and executive orders in real-time.

Unreliable and inaccurate

Pros

I have nothing positive at the moment. FindLaw has never found me a suitable attorney and its reporting is grossly inaccurate. I would not recommend FindLaw. I go straight to County, State and Federal records systems

Cons

My view is that most things are poor. This is a private, profiteering organization with little regard for accuracy or service. I'm better off completing my own research through court records.

Honestly, I've had nothing but bad experiences. It's run by a lousy company with rude people, awful service, a poor product and shockingly high prices..
