“Simple and connects well with tools
Pros
One thing I really like is how simple it is to use and how well it connects with the other tools we rely on.
Cons
The main thing I'd improve is giving clients more freedom to customize their experience especially within the reporting features.

“Great time logging and invoicing system
Pros
My favorite feature and the reason I chose MyCase is its brilliant system for logging time and expenses. It then uses those records to create very professional-looking invoices.
Cons
I have not been very pleased with its recent changes. They have increased the fees for client invoice payments through LawPay and the new user interface is not as good as the old one, in my opinion. Plus sometimes their updates feel like a step backward.

“quite a beginner friendly software
Pros
MyCase is very user-friendly which is great, especially for someone just starting out.
Cons
Nothing major stands out that I dislike. It might just be that some useful features require an extra payment.

“A complete cost effective system
Pros
It is a complete case management system that is cost-effective for a solo practitioner. It organizes my time, billing and invoicing seamlessly and I really depend on the daily and weekly reports. The tracking feature that shows how many active cases I have and in which practice areas is also incredibly helpful.
Cons
Editing client information feels a little complex. I always have to click through several menus to find the right spot and figure out what I need to do.

“All features in one platform
Pros
Having all the features I need to run my business integrated into a single platform is the biggest advantage.
Cons
The document management tools need to be more powerful, maybe with better search to function like a basic e-discovery platform or by connecting with existing e-discovery systems. Also when creating a new case, the workflow should ask if the client is an individual or a corporation and then guide you to add the appropriate contact. This would ensure invoices are correctly addressed, with a care of line for corporate contacts so they get routed properly.

“Unreasonable and excessive security measures
Pros
The user interface is logical and easy to navigate. The platform is also user friendly and has most of what a small law firm requires though accessing it reliably can sometimes be a different story.
Cons
As per me the security measures are unreasonable and excessive. We are forced to change passwords randomly and use security codes that sometimes take hours to arrive. Also the codes cannot be copied and pasted, only typed manually which feels like very outdated technology.

“its a complete rip off scam
Pros
There is very little I like about it. So I would not recommend this software to any firm.
Cons
The customer service is terrible and their billing practices feel like a scam. According to me this software is a complete rip-off. Their only goal is to lock you into an upfront payment and then keep auto-billing for extras, even after you have canceled.

“Decent for tracking client information but lacking in some areas

I find it decent for tracking client information and more affordable than some other CRM options.

It was lacking in features and integrations compared to what I was looking for.

“setup process and integration is easy
Pros
The setup process was simple and less time consuming. I could import all my contacts and case details quickly and was actively using the software in my practice almost immediately. Plus the integration with LawPay automatically handles tasks that I used to need a spreadsheet to track.
Cons
While most of the software is user friendly and menus are where I'd expect, I have ended up using the Support database more than I thought I would. I probably could have taken more training from the implementation team but I chose to learn by trial and error instead.

Free Trial
“value doesn't match the price
Pros
I really like that MyCase offers a free trial so you can test the software yourself. Overall it is rare to find a CRM that does not require you to talk to a dozen reps and sit through a sales-led demo.
Cons
It has this great background time tracking feature but that was about the only advantage I found over Clio. Overall it feels like I am paying more money for less functionality.

The standard reminder system is excellent and the price is unbeatable.
Cons
To me the document automation feels very clunky or maybe I just could not figure out how to make it work properly.

“disappointing data migration experience
Pros
There is not much positive to say. It seemed like it would be a perfect all in one solution to replace three other programs but we could never get our data transferred over and therefore never actually used it.
Cons
The data migration limits and the complete lack of support when things went wrong were the main issues. As a small firm operating since 1996, we had decades of customized data in our old system. We were initially excited about it being an all in one solution but we quickly realized we'd lose about 80% of our data in their one-shot migration process. Their migration specialist was pleasant but never answered our IT person's specific questions. The onboarding representative was worse, dismissing our struggles and a COVID outbreak in our office, insisting the migration was no big deal. They told us if we did not finish within 60 days, we'd be on our own. We decided it was not worth losing most of our data or shutting down the office for two weeks to re-enter everything, especially since the customer service was so poor. When I respectfully asked for a partial refund after paying for a full year upfront, all communication from our reps stopped completely. It was extremely disappointing.

“Secure portals for client communication
Pros
The secure online portals are great for communicating safely with clients and accessing documents from anywhere.
Cons
One thing I noticed is that the system can get a bit glitchy when I have several files open at the same time.

“Has its pros and cons
Pros
I really enjoy the calendar feature and how easy certain parts of MyCase are to use. The timer is especially helpful for keeping track of my hours and uploading documents is also simple to manage.
Cons
MyCase is not simple at all. We've tried to implement certain processes through it, but it feels nearly impossible. Even when we reach out to a MyCase representative, they often can't help us. We hoped to track the progress of cases so that if one person stops working on a case, someone else could easily pick it up and continue where they left off. But creating that workflow with steps, warnings, and the like just doesn't seem feasible in MyCase. We wanted a structure with main levels of tasks and sublevels under each, but we've had no luck building that. On top of that, it's frustrating that you can't add multiple people to a lead or use the same email for a couple to send them documents for signing electronically.

“Meets all our needs
Pros
MyCase is simple to work with and comes with plenty of features. It's an excellent platform that meets all our needs.
Cons
There's no way to split or prorate invoices. For us, that would be a valuable feature, along with having multiple billing contacts on a single invoice. I'm hopeful this might be something they'll introduce in the future.

“A key tool for legal practice
Pros
It has been an essential tool in making my legal practice more efficient. Its interface allows me to easily manage documents, set up effective workflows, and send files out for e-signature. Whether it's managing client records, keeping track of deadlines, or handling remote signatures, MyCase continues to exceed my expectations. Its approachable design and rich features have made me much more productive. The customer support is also excellent.
Cons
I really don't have any negatives to mention about MyCase.
