“helpful punctuation and style checks”
Pros
The punctuation checking is really useful for me and I also appreciate that it can review English style for both American and British usage.
Cons
The biggest thing missing is better integration with other apps. It would also be much better if the product expanded to cover grammar, comprehensibility and concision as well.

“consistency checks I rely on”
Pros
By the time I run a document through this, the editing is already done and I'm using it as my final quality check. It's incredibly helpful for me for making sure everything is consistent which matters a lot when I'm trying to deliver the cleanest, most polished work possible to clients. It catches the style issues I overlook, along with punctuation mistakes, missing quotation marks and even words that are spelled two different ways in the same document. I also use it to clean up things like double spaces and extra paragraph breaks. At this point, it's an essential part of my workflow and running it also gives me that satisfying feeling that the project is officially finished.
Cons
One limitation is that it only includes certain style options out of the box, like Chicago Style. You can add your own styles and other users have shared templates as well but I really wish it came with every major style already built in. I sometimes need AP style and not having that available is frustrating. Yes, I could make my own AP template and add it but I'd still prefer not to have to do that.

“Trustworthy final manuscript check”
Pros
Working as a nonfiction copy editor and proofreader, I use it as one of my last steps before sending a manuscript back to a client because I trust it to catch what slips through for me. My first editing pass is already pretty detailed but it still picks up the small things I may miss, like inconsistent hyphenation. I also appreciate being able to connect it to my CMoS account for an added style check.
Cons
My biggest frustration is that the Mac version is cloud-based. I really wish there were a desktop application instead. When the internet connection is unreliable, the cloud version can freeze or crash and then I end up having to start over.

“editorial workflow time-saver”
Pros
As an editorial services provider, this is by far the software I rely on most and use the most often. I use it to clean up texts quickly before proofreading or copyediting and then I run it again for a final pass to catch anything I may have overlooked. It's very easy for me to use and the built-in range of style sheets is great enough that I can install it and start working with it right away. On top of that, there are plenty of free video tutorials that cover both the basics and the more advanced functions. The feature that helps me most though, is the ability to add my own style sheets which saves me a huge amount of time with repeat clients. I've also gotten a lot of value from the integration with The Chicago Manual of Style since it cuts down extra work on CMOS-based documents. The free trial is quite generous, with full access to every feature for 14 days and the yearly subscription feels very reasonably priced to me especially considering the fairly regular updates. I've only needed customer support once and the issue was handled quickly and efficiently for me.
Cons
The one feature I really wish it had is reference checking. I work on a lot of academic material so even a basic tool for spotting inconsistencies in references would be very helpful. A few more updates would also be welcome although at this price there is already plenty being maintained and improved behind the scenes. It would also be helpful if it could be used with PDFs in Adobe or within Google Docs.

“consistency checks done right”
Pros
Working as an editor on academic papers written by researchers who speak English as a second language, I've gotten a lot of value from this software. It's incredibly helpful for me for checking consistency and catching tiny details that really matter. Those small fixes are often what turn an average edit into something that feels polished and truly professional.
Cons
I honestly haven't run into any problems with this software. It does exactly what it's meant to do and handles consistency checks really well.

“Perfect tool!!”
Pros
One of the biggest reasons I rely on this software is the consistency checking. It catches details I might have completely missed otherwise which makes a huge difference for me. The abbreviation checks are especially useful and being able to save the abbreviations list at the end really helps me confirm that terms are spelled out on first mention and included properly in the list. I probably don't take full advantage of all the customization options but it's nice knowing those checks can be adjusted whenever needed.
Cons
It can really slow down with large Word documents. Part of that may be due to Word itself struggling with bigger files and since this runs as a Word add-on, the whole thing will occasionally just crash. On a separate note, I've been hoping for years that it will work with PowerPoint so I'm really looking forward to seeing what they eventually do there.

“Style and formatting control”
Pros
Working on online university course content with hundreds of pages, I rely on it most for keeping style, spelling, punctuation and formatting consistent throughout for me. It also does an excellent job for me catching typos and other mistakes. The software is very easy for me to use and the Chicago Manual of Style plugin fits right into my workflow which it simple for me to stay aligned with Chicago style.
Cons
Honestly the only thing I really wish it could do is automatically generate bibliographies in Chicago, MLA and APA formats. Aside from that, it's excellent.

“professional editing confidence”
Pros
Okay so.... working as an academic editor, accuracy matters a lot in everything I do. Using this gives me added confidence that the documents I send to clients are as polished and refined as they can be for me.

Getting everything configured in a way that actually fit my field took a little assistance from a colleague at the beginning.

“reliable inconsistency detection”
Pros
One thing that really stands out is the support, you're dealing directly with the program's designer and they truly go the extra mile to help. When I'm editing a book especially a long manuscript, even with a style guide in place, it's still easy to overlook words that appear both hyphenated and unhyphenated or other small inconsistencies. That's where this software has been especially useful for me because it catches those issues reliably. Installation is quick and using it feels very easy.
Cons
Haven't run into any real problems. If I had to point to something minor, it would be that the program flags contractions which can be a little irritating but I can just turn that check off and keep working without any trouble.

“Catches repetitive errors”
Pros
One of the best parts for me is how many small issues it picks up especially those repetitive mistakes that are easy to miss after a while. Being able to catch and fix them quickly lets me spend more time focusing on the actual content instead of getting stuck on minor errors.
Cons
It can be a bit wonky on a Mac although it's nothing that can't be worked around.

“advanced style guide checks”
Pros
This is something I recommend to all of my editing mentees and coworkers. As an editor, it feels like my secret weapon especially when it comes to the consistency check and style guide check. No matter how sharp-eyed I think I am or how familiar I am with the finer points of the Chicago Manual of Style, it still catches inconsistent capitalization, hyphenation issues and those little CMOS details I overlooked. I'm genuinely grateful for that.
Cons
It does crash sometimes in the middle of checks which is definitely frustrating especially since it means closing Word and reopening the document from scratch. Thankfully, it doesn't take too long to keep hitting "skip" until I get back to where I left off in the checking process.

Pros
Affordable, user-friendly and easily integrated with Microsoft Word, it's become something I depend on heavily. It does an excellent job catching and helping me remove punctuation mistakes especially the ones I tend to overlook after spending long hours working on a manuscript.
Cons
One thing I'd really like to see added is a built-in thesaurus.

“Deep grammar analysis”
Pros
True to its name, it helps me catch mistakes in a document that slipped past the first or even second review. The customization options are a big plus for me since I can add extra checks when needed and its grammar and style analysis goes well beyond basic spellchecking. As a professional editor, I consider it invaluable for making sure documents are polished carefully and kept consistent throughout.
Cons

Pros

“Flexible customization options”
Pros
Getting started with it is quick and using it feels very easy. There's also a great level of customization for different writing styles and languages which makes it really flexible for me. The abbreviation checker is incredibly valuable and keeps that process simple. It also catches things like double spaces which is really helpful and the suggested alternatives are useful when I'm dealing with more complicated content.
Cons
One thing that gets annoying is having to log in every single time, I really wish it remembered my details better. There are also moments when Word seems to drop it from the toolbar so I have to add it back again.

“capitalization consistency control”
Pros
One feature I really appreciate is the consistency checker. It flags when the same word is capitalized differently across the document and fixing everything only takes a quick click for me. If I want to review them one by one, I can also jump straight to each occurrence without any hassle.
Cons
Downside is that the different versions of the more detailed checks need to be custom coded.
