time-saving consistency booster

Pros

It saves me a ton of time. It does a really good job of automating the smaller tasks, like catching missing closing quotation marks and it helps me keep everything consistent.

Cons

The Mac version isn't as polished as the Windows one and it can be a bit slow at times.

Pros

Cons

Love the customizable styles

Pros

Tech has never really been my strong point but this software has been very simple to work with. As a fiction editor, I especially appreciate the "Manage Styles" feature because it lets me tailor the style I'm using and skip any checks that aren't relevant to the document at hand. I've even built my own custom style for clients who have specific style guidelines.

Cons

I genuinely can't think of any downsides to this software. I'm still discovering more of what it can do and I absolutely love using it!

valuable editorial shortcut

Pros

This software is my first stop when I'm checking editorial work and the part I appreciate most is using it instead of writing macros.

Cons

A few areas feel less simple than I'd like. For instance, I wasn't able to get "Sections to Skip" working right away. The interface is great overall but there's still room to improve in most areas.

Time-saving and confidence-boosting

Pros

One of the biggest benefits of this software for me is that it takes over the tedious checks that would take a long time to do by hand. That leaves me with more time to focus on higher-level work, like critically reviewing an author's plot or assessing a student's argumentation. It also gives me confidence that nothing important has been overlooked.

Cons

There are likely additional features I haven't explored yet that could help me save even more time.

Pros

Spell check picks up most mistakes for me and the interface is simple to work with.

Chicago-style consistency booster

Pros

One of the most useful parts of this tool for me is how it helps me check consistency across entire manuscripts. It also works really well with the Chicago Manual of Style which is the standard I rely on as a book editor.

Cons

It does cost a bit more than I'd prefer but as a professional editor, I still think it's worth the investment overall.

polished documents with reliable support

Pros

It's become my go-to because it helps me feel confident that my documents stay consistent in style and punctuation and that acronyms are introduced the right way. That extra level of polish really matters and it's something my clients definitely notice in my work.

Cons

At this point, I really don't have any complaints. Like any software, it can have the occasional glitch but the customer support and follow-up have been excellent whenever something comes up. A quick email is usually all it takes and the issue has been taken care of by the next day.

Indispensable for manuscript editing

Pros

It's the tool I reach for on every editing job. I use it once at the start of an edit and then again after I've finished and it consistently catches grammar or formatting inconsistencies I might have missed especially in long documents and manuscripts. The range of style manual options is excellent and it has become an essential part of my workflow.

Cons

I still don't rely on it completely for spell-checking. No automated tool can fully judge correct word usage so the human element still matters. Its spell check is definitely better than MS Word's but I still run a specialized macro as an extra step to catch any stray words that both the software and I may have overlooked.
