4.0

easy workflow navigation

Pros

For my workflow, the platform is very easy to move around in. Learning new processes is quick and I don't feel slowed down by figuring out the software itself.

Cons

That said I often get annoyed by missing functionality, like no option to batch-download documents, limited ability to sort or search by particular fields and the absence of a monthly visual calendar for logging time entries.

Track hours, calendar, and notes

Pros

Most of the time, I use it to track my hours and check my calendar. I also like that I can jot notes in one place and everyone on my team can see them when they need to which keeps us all coordinated.

Cons

Often I'm frustrated that there isn't a draft feature, whenever I create a timeslip I have to save it immediately. Since I'm juggling several tasks at once, I prefer being able to keep multiple entries open with their descriptions and come back to them later instead of forcing myself to save them right away.

Frustrating customer service

Pros

For me billing is really easy using PayPal. Occasionally it syncs with QuickBooks and when that synchronization fails it creates significant headaches.

Cons

I've had some really frustrating experiences with customer service and it seems to have gotten worse over time. For me when the company changed ownership, it felt like no real effort went into improving the software so the system hasn't kept up with competitors. Support is almost nonexistent now and constant staff turnover makes it even harder for me to get help.

User-friendly tool

Pros

It is an excellent, user-friendly tool that I find simple to navigate. The tags feature makes organizing items easy and much of the application explains itself. I also appreciate being able to search Google for any question and quickly find comprehensive written guides and video walkthroughs that solve my issues.

Cons

The software could use a proper batch billing option. When I create invoices to send to an attorney, it packages them into a zip file that splits into separate invoices but I'd much prefer to combine everything into a single document. The automatic file naming system also forces me to rename files before uploading to OneDrive which adds extra steps and wastes time in my workflow.

Missing calendar overview

Pros

I can't say there's much to like it doesn't feel particularly special to me.

Cons

For my work a proper calendar view is missing and I wish there was an easier way to quickly scan people's time entries at a glance.

Simple time tracking and billing

Pros

Accessing the system is simple for me as it lets me bill my time easily and I never lose any saved time entries.

Cons

It freezes on me and I have to refresh the page.. maybe it's a cookie issue on my computer.

simple interface and client portal

Pros

Interface feels simple to me and the client portal is easy and easy to use.

Cons

A major frustration I've found is that Puerto Rico banks aren't connected to Panther Payments and when I select several entries and hit save I'm not able to view those recent entries on the same page which slows my workflow.

Responsive support for issues

Pros

Support has truly stood out for me compared to any other software provider I've used. The quick responses and clear ownership of issues, along with helpful links throughout the software, make it easy for me to ask questions at almost every step.

Cons

I'd really like them to include a visual workflow builder that's the one feature I feel they could improve. even with that missing what they offer now still outperforms the other practice management systems I tried across the major vendors.

Automated billable time tracking

Pros

Keeping track of billable time is absolutely essential in legal work yet I see most lawyers still struggle with it. It's automated features help me capture more billable hours while requiring very little time or effort.

Cons

I also wish the default reporting tools gave me more flexibility in the types of reports I can produce.

All-in-one contact & matter view

Pros

It's really tough to single out one favorite thing about it because I rely on so many of its functions for my law practice. What I appreciate most is being able to pull up everything tied to a contact or a matter in one spot. emails and their attachments, notes, documents, billing records, payments, my calendar, the 'to do' list (Tasks), time entries and any communications about a contact or matter are all accessible inside it. I lean on the templates and workflows every day, they shave off time and help me stay organized and on schedule. With one quick click I can send an online questionnaire to a client and once they finish it the responses are saved directly to their client file. Tags give me the flexibility to sort and label contacts and matters however I need. I handle online payments through PantherPay which is easy to use and posts payments to the billing account immediately. Another plus is that new features keep coming out on a regular basis, the product feels like it keeps getting better.

Cons

Clients should be able to start an intake form, save it and finish it later and I would love it if they automatically received a copy of their responses. The timer keeps buffering endlessly unless I refresh the page which is frustrating, even though I know the team is working on it. Another limitation I run into is that if a client already has a it account with a different firm, they can't create a new account for my firm using the same email. I would also appreciate conditional or dynamic fields in intake forms so they can adapt based on my clients' answers.

simple & flexible for solos

Pros

Being a solo attorney, I simply don't have the luxury of fiddling with a client management system that complicates my workflow. I find it simple and easy, simple to learn, quick to set up and flexible enough to adjust as my needs change. It's low-maintenance and doesn't strain my budget. On top of that, their customer support has been outstanding. Overall I've had a really excellent experience with it and I'm happy to recommend this platform.

Cons

It would be amazing if the program could automatically populate immigration petitions with the information I collect through intake forms although I understand that isn't what it's designed to do and I can work around that.

aligned operations & faster payments

Pros

it includes so many features and components for running a law practice that it has really aligned my day-to-day business operations. I used to juggle separate billing software, a calendaring program, including court calendars for various federal and state courts and a task management app which was a real issue. it has replaced all of those tools and combines them into an easy-to-use interface. On top of that, the built-in credit card payment option means I get paid much faster (on average more than 14 days sooner) than I ever did before. Honestly it feels like having a part-time office administrator on staff and because of that I spend less time on administrative overhead and more time practicing law.

Cons

I really enjoy the features overall but I wish it could connect with my research tools so my online sessions were timed and tracked automatically. For example, I use CaseText and if it integrated with it, I could log in, enter the matter code and have research time billed automatically, with downloaded cases linked directly to the matter. That would make me far more efficient and help me ensure I'm paid for research time.

Windows-like environment, great support

Pros

For me using this legal software was a real breath of fresh air because it emulated a Windows environment while also handling some DOS-like functions. Their customer support is excellent and I see the company constantly enhancing the product from user feedback.

Cons

After moving from ProLaw to it I lost some financial reporting functions I relied on and I really want those back. I would also like smoother integration with Microsoft Word so my workflows there are more reliable.

smooth migration & navigation

Pros

We found the software incredibly easy to navigate. Moving away from our previous client management system was a smooth, fast experience and took very little time.

Cons

My only issue is that I don't always get secure message alerts delivered to my email so sometimes those notices never show up in my inbox.

easy layout & font

Pros

I'm really happy with it's layout and the font size, they feel simple and easy on the eyes. After I've gotten comfortable with how the features work, it becomes simple to operate and understand the system.

Cons

When it comes to customer service, I've been frustrated because their replies amount to little more than "we are working on it" without any real follow-up. I've waited months without a proper resolution for a fairly easy issue and the apparent shortage of IT folks who can actually fix the bugs has made me rethink whether investing in this tool is worth it.

Multiple office functions together

Pros

What I like is that it brings multiple office functions together on a single platform.

Cons

I find it's missing some useful capabilities like the option to: (1) click and drag items when I'm building workflows, (2) tap a contact's address and launch a GPS app to get immediate directions and (3) tap a phone number and place the call for me.

Hands-on student experience

Pros

As a second-year Legal Assistant student, I created an account on it so I could get familiar with the platform and include hands-on observations in a research paper I'm writing about legal management software. The customer support I experienced has been outstanding and the program itself impresses me with its functionality, accessibility and easy, easy-to-use design and overall reliability.

Cons

During my time exploring it, I couldn't find any aspects that I disliked or had issues with.
