Avoid this, it's not worth it

Pros

The ease of installation and the customization options are standout features of this software. It functions smoothly and can be tailored to meet specific needs.

Cons

The technical support is practically useless. Lexis/Nexis makes it nearly impossible to transfer the software from an old device to a new one. I was quoted $5,000 to transfer my Time Matters software and data from my old laptop to my new one and even then, I would only have access to a bot that might or might not be able to make the transfer happen.

Its good for book keeping

Pros

I love how easy it is to use especially when generating reports and obtaining documents. Everything I need is just a few clicks away.

Cons

Customer support is severely lacking. Calls put you on hold forever and emails are slow to get responses. It feels like they're not really invested in resolving issues.

Left using it

Pros

Honestly, there wasn't a single feature of Time Matters that I liked using. I couldn't find anything useful in it for my needs.

Cons

The software is not simple to use at all. It kept freezing, renaming my letters randomly and kicking me out right in the middle of drafting important documents. It's very frustrating to work with.

Don't even think about using Time Matters

Pros

The only thing I liked about this software was uninstalling it and moving to a different product. After becoming the administrator, we found that our service calls decreased by about 80% for our law clients.

Cons

Constant problems: database issues, slowness, data loss, installation problems and a total lack of deployment options. There are literally hundreds of service tickets related to not being able to use Time Matters effectively.

Customer service and tech support are terrible

Pros

The program is pretty basic and doesn't require much sophistication to use. However, that simplicity doesn't necessarily mean it's effective.

Cons

The so called auto sync via the cloud to other devices is practically useless. It misses records, generates errors and causes more problems than it solves.

You'll never talk to a human, ever

Pros

After months of frustration, there isn't a single thing I like about this software. We support over 200 live applications and not one has the support demands that Time Matters generates in a single year.

Cons

They only offer chat support, which ends as soon as they find out you're using this software on a Virtual Computer. It's a joke. I would rather recommend viruses to my friends than ever suggest using a LexisNexis product. The company buys smaller companies and then "reorganizes" them and there's some middle manager somewhere justifying their bonus by keeping purchasers from ever talking to an actual tech support professional.

An outdated program with zero support

Pros

It's reasonably easy to understand and includes all the basic features needed for a general law practice.

Cons

It is incredibly clunky to use, with poor document management and no client portal (they had one but abandoned it when it didn't work). Technical support is miserable and doesn't seem to care about resolving issues.

Good for 1997, not so great now

Pros

The software offers a good range of functionalities for law practices. It manages matters well and allows users to link documents, notes, emails and more.

Cons

Time Matters functions like it's still in the year 1997. The plugins for Word, Adobe and Outlook are buggy and crash often. It requires a constant connection to the server and can't handle any internet connectivity issues. plus it doesn't work well with mobile devices at all.

Everything I need is neatly in one program, love it!

Pros

Time Matters has a lot of features. It stores all client, attorney and court contact information in an easy-to-find system. I can easily calendar all matters and link tasks to the appropriate contact. The daily calculator is also very handy, especially when counting specific days for responding to orders and motions. Each person can set up personal "to-do's" without them showing on the daily calendars. I love the "consult" forms for tracking client communications and the ability to tailor categories to hold specific information.

Cons

Sometimes the software can be tricky to navigate. It took me a while to figure out all the ins and outs of the program. Occasionally, certain tabs are missing when I open the program so I have to spend time finding and opening them again. It still takes me a while to find things in the program that I don't use every day.

Used it in the past, need to be more simple

Pros

This is a great tool for easily tracking the files and data required for legal cases. It simplifies legal practice management, making the task much more manageable.

Cons

Time Matters has a steep learning curve and requires a lot of training before you can actually start using it effectively. It's also difficult for users to troubleshoot problems on their own and various issues often require outside intervention.

Using this since 1998, best merge processing around

Pros

As a long-time computer user with a huge collection of forms and a general rural practice covering most areas of law for small firms, the merge into templates feature is crucial for us. The calendar, separate matter and contact database, with many-to-many relationships, allows us to relate and connect important pieces of information. The customization options for field names and visual record forms are excellent. As a solo practitioner, the contact database is huge, enabling searches and organization by practice area. While it has preset codes and categories, you have the freedom to tailor the system to fit how you want to work. Customer support is amazing!!!!! they're always willing to work with you and even escalate to higher-level engineers when needed. The ability to go contact by contact, matter by matter and then dig deeper into related data is invaluable. The training materials are far above what other competitors offer. After exploring other programs, I find them to be much less sophisticated than Time Matters, which we rely on. I honestly can't see us transitioning away from Time Matters, it's become essential to both my personal and business life, storing and organizing information that's always accessible.

Cons

The learning curve is significant. The SQL database and search functionality are slow, especially compared to Google. The integration with Outlook can crash sometimes and I've had issues with document merging in WordPerfect that only resolve after exiting both programs. The conflict search can also be a bit slow. While these are minor, they still add up to a frustrating experience.
