Helpful billing snapshot

Pros

Just by logging in, I can quickly see my weekly and monthly billing totals without having to dig through each individual day. It gives me a clear view of monthly revenue at a glance which makes keeping up with billing much more convenient.

Cons

I still struggle with handling payments between my trust account and IOLTA and marking bills as paid is not very user-friendly. The reports also feel like they could be better organized and there really should be a report that shows all billed time for a case in one place. On top of that, I can't sync the program with QuickBooks because of the Windows version I'm using so I end up having to run an income report in TimeSolv and then use QuickBooks separately for expenses, profit and other financial details.

Dependable support

Pros

Getting started with the billing system was mostly something I could figure out on my own which I really appreciated. Whenever I did run into questions though, reaching a TimeSolv representative was never a problem and that support has been consistently helpful.

Cons

Sub-task codes have to be typed in manually if a code is already entered and needs to be changed during a time entry. There's also a noticeable learning curve when it comes to figuring out how to consolidate all of the time entries onto a single invoice.

Affordable billing built for small firms

Pros

Running a small law firm, it has been an excellent billing solution. It offers the same kinds of features you'd expect from the platforms bigger firms use but it's priced reasonably and has the flexibility that makes much more sense for a smaller practice. Their tech support also feels like having an in-house IT team whenever I need help.

Cons

Any time an issue has come up, the TimeSolv team has been willing to make adjustments to fit what I needed. They've been a really dependable company to work with.

Quick onboarding

Pros

Found it very user-friendly. I had my new paralegal trained in about 10 minutes and she was already entering time and putting together draft invoices without any trouble.

Cons

Setting up separate matters feels a bit more involved than I need especially since I only use one matter but it's nothing serious or concerning.

Takes no time to get used to it

Pros

The interface is very user-friendly and it doesn't take long to learn how to use it.

Cons

One thing I'd like added is a home phone label in Contacts and it would also help to see the timer start time once I begin tracking so I can apply billing discretion more accurately--for example, if I notice a timer has run for 7 minutes, I might round it down to 6 instead of up to 12.

Pros

Getting started with it feels very simple and the real-time online data entry makes keeping everything updated really convenient.

Cons

Statements of account usually aren't very practical for clients who have multiple projects and/or make advance payments.

Billing access from anywhere

Pros

This new program has been a fantastic addition. Being able to log in from anywhere and enter all of my billable time is a huge plus. I wasn't able to find any other billing software that came this close to TimeSlips.

Cons

One thing I don't care for is the lack of invoice customization. The invoices are limited to standard settings so we can't design them the way we want.

Useful details

Pros

Everything stays incredibly well organized and it lets you track so many different details when you're working on a case. This software has really become essential for us and it has kept the firm structured and on top of things ever since we began using it.

Cons

an automatic resend feature for overdue invoices is missing.

Simple to handle payments

Pros

Entering time, adjusting invoices and handling payments has been pretty simple for me.

Cons

At times, the system can feel a bit confusing to use and some features are harder to locate than they should be. Customer support has been helpful whenever needed. It also starts to get expensive once you add multiple users.

All-in-one workflow that clicks

Pros

Everything feels well organized in one place which makes moving between screens really convenient without having to leave the program and come back in. It's also simple to use and editing information after entering it is simple.

Cons

The only frustrating part is time entry. I have to type in the case name every single time and that ends up taking more time than it should.

Can tweak entries

Pros

Keeping track of time is very simple. At the end of each time entry, there are "edit" and "delete" boxes which makes updating or removing an entry quick and convenient.

Cons

There really was not much to complain about. I only moved to a different program because it also included email management.

Fast web-based time tracking

Pros

Capturing time entries takes very little effort because the interface feels simple and fluid to work with. Having access to the software directly through a web browser is also a major advantage.

Cons

Using the software through the web interface is simple and convenient. That said the iOS app still needs improvement especially when it comes to its look and overall usability.

Well-priced software

Pros

Being cloud-based is a big plus and the conflicts check module is really useful. It's also priced very reasonably.

Cons

updates aren't always announced before a setting gets changed. The changes themselves are usually helpful and necessary but the lack of notice can still cause some confusion.

Pros

Being able to use TimeSolv from anywhere is a big plus. Since it's web-based, I can get to it whenever I need to which has been really convenient.

Cons

To me, the interface looks a bit outdated. I'd also prefer if certain sections took fewer clicks to reach.

Focused billing done right

Pros

Unlike a lot of other apps in this space, TimeSolv stays centered on the core jobs that actually matter most to us. That focus is what we appreciated most. Other products seemed to stretch too far and tried to turn into full practice management systems. I already use Outlook for email and my calendar so I do not need another calendar built in or another way to communicate. TimeSolv leaves all of that in the background and keeps time entry and billing front and center. Since it is fully cloud-based, I can sign in from anywhere to enter my time, create and send invoices and even handle adding new users.

Cons

Invoice creation feels a bit unclear at first and it takes some time before you really get comfortable with formatting the invoices.

two-way Quickbooks sync

Pros

Right away, the two-way sync with QuickBooks has been one of the biggest advantages. The web-based interface is simple to use and billing is simple to manage with plenty of customizable settings. Importing data from older systems was painless and the implementation process was quick. The Retainers and Trust features are especially useful and overall the software performs really well. I also appreciate having a true aged AR and being able to adjust or write off invoices in the proper current accounting period.

Cons

Would like to see split matter billing. It would also be helpful to have a bit more flexibility when customizing invoices.
