It streamlines research and improves efficiency in legal and investigative workflows.

What Is Tracers Best For?

Tracers stands out for its advanced ‘Skip Tracing’ capabilities, helping legal professionals, investigators, collections teams, and businesses locate hard-to-find individuals using billions of public and proprietary records. The platform combines real-time and alternative data sources to uncover current contact information, address histories, associates, and assets, enabling users to build comprehensive profiles and pursue investigations with greater confidence.

  • Data Access And Usage Fees: $0.10–$2 per basic search, $1–$5 per enhanced identity or contact enrichment record, and $5–$25+ per detailed background or investigative report

  • API Access And Integrations: $500–$5,000+ per month depending on usage volume and system complexity

  • Batch Processing And High-Volume Queries: Often priced at discounted enterprise rates, typically $0.05–$0.50 per record depending on volume commitments

  • Training And Support: $1,000–$10,000 for onboarding and investigator training, with ongoing premium support contracts for larger agencies

Several reviewers note that the platform can be cost-effective for legal professionals and investigators who rely heavily on deep data access for case building and skip tracing. Tracers Use Cases

Through our analysis of Tracers’ features and product positioning, we have identified key scenarios where the platform is commonly used by legal professionals, investigators, collections agencies, and compliance teams for people research, skip tracing, identity verification, and due diligence investigations:

1. Government Investigators Conducting Mobile Field Investigations

Government investigators often perform surveillance and field investigations away from their offices, where access to investigative data can be limited by desktop-based systems and fragmented databases. Delays in obtaining records can slow investigations and impact case outcomes. Tracers addresses this challenge with a web-based platform that allows investigators to access criminal records, court records, reverse phone lookups, vehicle registrations, workplace records, asset searches, and other investigative data from any internet-connected device. This gives field investigators access to critical information while conducting surveillance and supports faster investigative decision-making without requiring a return to the office

2. Collections Law Firms Locating Debtors And Verifying Contact Information

Collections law firms often struggle with outdated debtor records, incomplete contact information, and the need to verify that they are pursuing the correct individual before initiating recovery efforts. Searching across multiple databases can slow collection activities and increase the risk of relying on inaccurate data. Tracers helps address these difficulties by providing access to current contact information, personally identifiable information, address histories, and other public records through a single search platform. Its intuitive interface allows collections teams to quickly locate and verify debtor information, reducing time spent navigating multiple systems and supporting more informed collection efforts.

3. Insurance Investigation Teams Verifying Claims And Detecting Potential Fraud

Tracers is well suited for insurance investigation teams that need to verify claimant information, uncover relevant background details, and identify potential indicators of fraud during the claims review process. Investigators often face challenges when information is incomplete, outdated, or spread across multiple sources, making it difficult to establish a clear picture of an individual’s history. Tracers solves these problems by providing access to public records, address histories, contact information, relatives, associates, and asset-related data through a single platform. This enables insurance investigators to conduct more thorough background research, validate claim-related information, and support fraud detection efforts with greater confidence.

4. Mass Tort And Complex Litigation Firms Managing Large-Scale Case Investigations

The platform is useful for mass tort and complex litigation firms that need to identify, locate, and verify large groups of plaintiffs while managing high-volume case investigations. Law firms handling widespread litigation often face challenges such as incomplete client records, difficulty reaching affected individuals, and the need to validate information across large datasets. Tracers tackles these issues by providing access to extensive public records, contact details, address histories, and related individuals, enabling attorneys and legal teams to strengthen case intake processes and maintain accurate client information across large-scale litigation matters.

Is Tracers Right For You?

Tracers is the ideal choice if your firm relies on accurate public records to build cases, locate individuals, or verify information that isn't readily available through standard search engines. It effectively bridges the gap between traditional legal libraries and raw investigative data, functioning as a specialized legal research tool for the discovery process.

If you find your team spending hours manually searching for witness contact info or asset histories, Tracers can significantly boost your productivity by delivering those results in seconds. Its ability to turn billions of data points into a single, cohesive profile makes it a powerful ally for any firm looking to gain a competitive edge in fact-finding.

The platform also emphasizes data security and privacy safeguards, ensuring that access to sensitive information is governed by strict compliance measures and controlled usage policies to protect investigative integrity.

Identity Verification And Fraud Prevention

High-Volume Batch Processing For Scalable Investigations

Tracers supports batch processing that allows legal teams and investigators to run multiple searches simultaneously instead of handling each inquiry individually. Stay away from this company!

Pros

I've noticed they put a lot of effort into presenting themselves as a trustworthy go-to for skip trace information.

Cons

In my experience they've proven to be a scam operated by an incompetent and arrogant individual. I consistently got the lowest success rates on searches compared with other services and I'm certain I'd be better off using many of the other skip tracers out there. They seem to recycle data pulled from other skip tracing companies and then simply slap on a higher price. Based on what I found online, I would avoid this company at all costs. If you Google them you'll see numerous negative reviews and on the BBB there isn't a single positive comment about them.

My go-to tool

Pros

The massive amount of data really stands out to me. I can't get over the refreshing blue dashboard and how leadership treats and respects their loyal users. I've been with Tracers for nearly eight months now and I'm definitely planning to stick around. Tracers and TLOxp are what I reach for first these days. After sampling all the options I honestly give Tracers two thumbs up. Running an inspection is super simple, the public-records data quality is second to none and overall it's essential for investigators or companies doing due diligence. In short, whether you're a new investigator or someone who's been in the field for years and wants tools that help you separate yourself from amateurs, you should add Tracers to your toolkit. I believe Tracers, TLO and IDI are the top tools a lawyer, investigator or due-diligence professional can have. Another plus is their support team is entirely U.S.-based. If you've been on the fence about signing up, do it and you won't be disappointed. It's so easy to use and it makes my daily work faster and less stressful.

Cons

At first I thought there was something wrong with my account and felt disappointed but management quickly pointed out the issue and fixed it. Aside from that short bump in the road which was handled promptly I have always loved Tracers and continue to rely on it in my work.

not worth the switch

Pros

What I appreciate most about the tool and the company is it reminds me there's no rival to TransUnion TLO. I regret switching to TRACERS.. absolutely the worst decision !

Cons

I eventually realized it's just another provider offering the same data everyone else has only presented differently. It absolutely wasn't worth leaving what I already knew and trusted. Tracers involves too many people entering data who don't communicate in sync properly.
