“Comes with e-learning toolkit”
Pros
With the wide range of applications it includes, there are plenty of ways to build a detailed, high-quality e-learning course.
Cons
It isn't really geared toward beginners. The huge number of options, applications and buttons can feel overwhelming when you're just starting out.

“powerful interactive course builder”
Pros
Adobe Captivate is a powerful tool for creating interactive content for online or hybrid classes. I have used the screen recording feature to put together step-by-step tutorials that show our school community how to use different technologies and it has worked really well for that. The question templates are excellent too and make course creation even more effective.
Cons
The biggest downside is the price which feels a bit high. It's also hard to get in touch with customer support when help is needed. On top of that the interface can feel overwhelming for new users who are just getting started.

“steep learning, decent rework”
Pros
Once you get past the early learning hurdle, it works well for putting together very simple e-learning content. It's also a great option when you need to revise and rework existing material.
Cons
That said the onboarding is really tough. Even with prior experience in video editing and other software tools, the learning curve feels extremely steep.

“Offers the best support”
Pros
Customer support has been excellent and the monthly subscription is worth the cost. It works well for interactive learning and once you get familiar with the platform, building courses is fairly easy too.
Cons
The version I worked with didn't include any AI integration and the interface could use some improvement. Compared with other tools, it is a bit behind right now. Instructional designers need faster ways to generate courses and adding AI or LLM integration would really help it move ahead.

“interactive learning powerhouse”
Pros
Creating interactive content with Adobe Captivate feels really practical especially for things like simulations and quizzes that help keep learners involved. Another big plus is how well it connects with other Adobe tools which makes the whole workflow even better.
Cons
It can feel a little overwhelming at the beginning. There are a lot of features and settings to work through so it takes time to learn how to use everything effectively. For beginners, the learning curve is definitely steep and the interface can come across as somewhat dated.

“modern widgets for engaging courses”
Pros
This newer Adobe release comes with a more modern interface and several widgets like flip cards, hotspots and carousels that help make e-learning content more interactive and engaging. Putting content together is pretty easy too since you mainly just add blocks and components to build the module.
Cons
One downside is that it can be glitchy and sometimes crashes without any warning so saving frequently is a must if you don't want to lose your work. The blocks also don't offer much flexibility since you're stuck with preset designs and cannot really get very creative with them.

“handy for quick elearning”
Pros
Creating eLearning content with Adobe Captivate is fairly easy. Most of the workflow is drag and drop so putting together simple courses doesn't take much effort and the tool is generally uncomplicated to use.
Cons
There are still a few bugs in the software and a lot of the editing and design options feel limited. It would be much better with stronger design features and more flexibility for customization.

“Packed with elearning features”
Pros
It comes with several user-friendly features while still being a powerful piece of eLearning software.

Certain features can be pretty complicated. You either need a developer to help or have to take a course and the learning curve has been steep at times in the past.

“I really like this tool !”
Pros
Adobe Captivate impressed me with how well it helped turn my ideas into actual content. It has really sped up the process of creating responsive eLearning courses and made it much more manageable. I also appreciate being able to add things like simulations, quizzes and surveys, among other interactive elements.
Cons
If someone is new to eLearning development, it can feel a bit complicated at times which is fairly common with tools like this.

“available at a fair price”
Pros
This is a very complete platform that helps you build slides without much hassle. The interactive features make the whole experience more engaging and it works really well for creating learning content. On top of that the price feels quite reasonable and accessible for what it offers.
Cons
One downside is that it can be a bit hard to use at first if you're just getting started or don't have much experience with this kind of tool.

“feature-rich solution”
Pros
There are plenty of ways to program behavior into the final product and the overall feature set is very powerful.
Cons
The learning curve is fairly steep so having sample projects to practice with is really important if you want to learn the behaviors and features well enough to become proficient.

“annoying popup limitations”
Pros
The tools in Captivate for building interactive videos were definitely useful and added value to the course creation process.
Cons
Pop-up content is a basic part of most eLearning courses yet it still seems to overlook this essential need. Because of that, adding pop-up or reveal interactions ends up being far too time-consuming and unnecessarily complicated.

“powerful features and adobe fit”
Pros
it is fairly user friendly at the basic level yet it has a lot of powerful tools once you dig deeper. It works really well with other Adobe apps and the output can be exported to most other programs without much trouble. Compared with Articulate Storyline, it feels easier to pick up and learn.
Cons
The biggest drawback is really the price. Beyond that, the more advanced features can take some time to uncover and use confidently but that's pretty understandable for software with this much depth.

“Clunky, counterintuitive and outdated”
Pros
There's only one minor drawback that I could think of the compatibility with Mac is not optimal.
Cons
Captivate is a rather clunky software. By "clunky," I mean that the interactions are counterintuitive, and creating interactions is incredibly time-consuming. The competing software offers a much better interface. Unfortunately, I had to use Captivate because I have a Mac computer, and my organization does not allow the use of parallels. After developing about three courses, I reached my limit. The development process took twice as long as it would have with the competing tool.

“made training creation simple”
Pros
Stepping into a Regional Training Executive role, I was a bit uneasy about building training modules because I had been using different software before. Adobe Captivate turned out to be easy to use and fast to pick up. I am not creating training modules anymore but if I need to again, I'd definitely want to use this tool.
Cons
This may have been more of a personal setup issue but while working from home I ran into quite a few problems accessing my account. Our remote IT team was able to help sort it out although I am not actually sure what they did to fix it.

“Offers very weak support”
Pros
It does offer enough functionality to build a wide range of course types.
Cons
Using it is far from simple and it's not user-friendly at all. When stacked up against other e-learning authoring tools, it comes across as one of the hardest platforms to work with. On top of that support is lacking and getting help usually means waiting a long time for a response.

“professional looking software demos”
Pros
This software is fairly simple to use and the interface is user friendly enough after a little use. Once you learn how it works, you can create very polished, professional-looking software demo videos.
Cons
Anyone who isn't already familiar with its products may have a harder time at first which really means there's more of a learning curve with the tool itself. It also doesn't feel especially modern and comes across as a bit outdated.

“useful demo recording”
Pros
One feature I really like is the demo recording. It lets you capture screen demonstrations clearly which is very helpful when you need to show learners how to complete specific tasks.
Cons
The part I am least satisfied with is the fairly limited set of interactivity options. It feels like there should be more functionality available to offer a wider variety of interactive elements.
