“easily accessible lecture material”
Pros
It's super easy to access lecture materials and I really like that submitting homework online is simple. Everything is in one place, which makes it more convenient.
Cons
I wish the homepage was customizable to show all the class announcements at once. It would save so much time rather than having to go through different sections to find everything.

“Basic at best”
Pros
Honestly this software just covers the basics. It allows teachers to post assignments and keep track of things but there's nothing that stands out as better than what I've used in other classrooms.
Cons
This system isn't the easiest to understand. It takes a while to find certain features. The grading system is particularly frustrating, as students can't see their overall grades. They have to do manual calculations and the system only shows the percentage, not the points for each assignment. It makes it really tough for students to track their grades properly.

“solid system”
Pros
I used this platform during some of my graduate courses. It was super easy to access my course, track assignments and manage everything. It's a solid and organized system for handling online courses.
Cons
The mobile functionality wasn't the best and I hope it's gotten better since then. It was a struggle to use on my phone.

“Stands out amongst competitors”
Pros
I've used D2L, Moodle and Blackboard across multiple jobs. D2L stands out because it's the most visually appealing of these and the drag and drop' feature for course building makes it way easier than Blackboard, for example.
Cons
When grading, I wish the rubrics were on the same page as the assignment instead of being in a separate pop-up window. Although, this is a bit better than previous versions so I'm hopeful it gets even better.

“keeps everything organized”
Pros
Has everything students need to stay on top of deadlines. It keeps all important data in one place, helping students stay organized and aware of their progress. Brightspace allows you to drag and drop files, plus rearrange them so that new content is easy to find. For teachers, creating quizzes or tests is simple and doesn't take too much time or resources. Brightspace is a popular LMS and is widely used across our college to distribute various types of content, assignments and tests, making the education process smoother for both students and teachers.
Cons
This app really lacks a user-friendly interface. It's tough to get used to and it takes time to figure out how to activate different features. Also tech support could also be improved, they often blame users instead of addressing the problem.

“Simple to get the hang of”
Pros
I've experienced it both as a student and a teacher. The software was easy to learn, use and get started with. Teachers could customize some features and I was able to check students' last login times.
Cons
I really wish there was more student activity tracking data available. It would be useful to have more detailed insights.

“it's for you if you want to learn”
Pros
Totally worth it for anyone like me who wants to continue learning or go back to studying. They offer a wide variety of options that suit different learning needs.
Cons
Haven't come across major issues. Just that it always needs to be updated to the newest version and it requires an internet connection. So, there are minor expenses involved.

“User friendly overall”
Pros
The friendly nature is one of the best things about this software. Some of that might be due to how my university has set it up but I can jump straight into a classroom and know exactly what to do next. Grading assignments is also really easy.
Cons
The Discussion area could definitely be a bit more user-friendly. It's not always easy to tell which discussions have been responded to and where I should focus on replying to students.

“most effective software for universities”
Pros
It is by far the most organized and effective software for universities. Students have one place where they can access all their courses and find all the information they need. Professors can post course content and organize it however they like. Quizzes, discussions and assignment dropboxes are all found within D2L. This platform provides easy online access for both teachers and students, making the entire learning process smoother.
Cons
The due dates for assignments often get confusing. Not sure if it's a user error caused by professors but they always end up emailing students to let them know they don't know how to change due dates for certain assignments.

“still exploring but good so far”
Pros
A major upgrade from Sakai. The platform looks better and has more features like the ability to upload videos and improve student-teacher interaction. The grading interface is much more professional and user-friendly. Before, I had to cut and paste everything, now the rubrics are embedded.
Cons
I've been using this for almost two years now and I'm still discovering new features. The company should definitely offer schools a training webinar or course for new users. There's so much potential that's still untapped.

“Easy to learn”
Pros
I really liked how easy it was to use compared to the old software my university used. It made tracking grades and course content so much easier. It also shows how your grades compare to other students and lets you track your own performance. When I was a TA, posting news items, entering grades and adding comments to students' papers was also simple. It's easy for everyone to understand.
Cons
It can be a bit tricky to use on mobile devices. There are fewer buttons to browse the pages but it's still manageable.

“wonderful experience of six years”
Pros
It does an excellent job of organizing your school materials. Each class has its own section, almost like a virtual binder. Teachers can upload quizzes, tests and other materials, making it a great tool for students of all ages. I've been using it for over 6 years and it's been incredibly helpful.
Cons
It does glitch sometimes which makes it harder to submit assignments or look something up. But honestly, that happens with any software.

“setting things up is a nightmare”
Pros
The web pages look just as you'd expect from a well-made product. There are multiple ways for students to access and view course content which makes it convenient.
Cons
Setting up classes and creating activities and assignments is a mess. Managing grades is even worse. Dropbox folders and assignments are only optionally linked to gradebook items. Gradebook items don't show as graded until a dropbox evaluation is published. The process of checking or re-evaluating grades for individual students in Dropbox is complex. The page refreshes slowly every time a simple change is made and the save buttons stay highlighted even if no changes have been made. There's no help available except for a community page and there's no direct contact for support.

“needs more integrations and better pricing”
Pros
The UI has been revamped to be more responsive, making it even more useful on a larger scale.
Cons
There's no integration with PeopleSoft. Administrative functions are hard to use and hidden behind too many buttons. The documentation is outdated and the whole thing is quite expensive.

“Learning made accessible”
Pros
It makes learning more accessible for both students and instructors. It can take a bit of time to get used to but once you're familiar with the tools, there are a lot of great options available.
Cons
It might be a local configuration issue but I've been using Brightspace for six years and I still can't get it to forward messages to my email. I get notifications but none are for new emails, which is pretty frustrating.
