“Holds all my course materials”
Pros
My favorite thing is how Canvas can hold all my course materials, lessons and activities in one place. Linking to Google Drive makes it simple to import assignments and presentations. It is very well-organized and easy for my students to find their way around.
Cons
Importing material from old Canvas courses is a very tedious process. I also find that some of the external apps that work with it are not easy to connect.

Adding different types of media like videos and audio clips to course pages was more difficult than it should have been.

“automatically organizes our work”
Pros
The way it automatically organizes our schedule and schoolwork is so helpful for getting assignments finished on time.
Cons
Grading system is my least favorite part but mainly because some of my professors struggle to input grades correctly, which messes up the point totals so that's more of a user issue.

“everything for my classes in one spot”
Pros
One of the best feature is having everything for my classes such as assignments, projects, deadlines the syllabus all in one location. Another great thing is how easily the Canvas calendar connects to my Google Calendar to track due dates.
Cons
My main issue is that while there are tons of great resources available, they are not easy to find or understand so a lot of students never end up using them.

“Feature-rich and reliable but overly complex interface”
Pros
The platform is packed with useful tools and is extremely reliable and I have never faced any technical issues with it.
Cons
It feels too disorganized. In trying to do everything, it has become confusing and less user-friendly. I mean students often seem better at navigating it than the professors.

“simple to connect with others”
Pros
Canvas made it simple to get in touch with my teachers and other students even when we were not in class.
Cons
The word counter on the discussion boards is frustrating because it forces us to keep expanding on a single topic to meet the requirement.

“organized coursework and communication”
Pros
As a user I found it very easy to look over my coursework and finish different kinds of assignments right on the platform. It also made communicating with my professors and other students simple.
Cons
Overall the functionality is solid but I feel like it would be great if they added more interactive or dynamic types of assignments directly within the platform.

“Great for collaborating on projects”
Pros
My favorite part is being able to suggest ideas or submit work live without losing my place and collaborating on big projects feels smooth and well-organized.
Cons
The biggest drawback for me is the lack of an offline mode as you have to be connected to the internet to use it and real-time co-editing with others is not possible.

“a modern and simple system”
Pros
The system feels modern, gives users simple access to all the necessary tools and works easily with other add-ons. Overall it is a great LMS.
Cons
Well the available tools can feel a bit limited sometimes. For example the font selection is too small for personalizing messages and the basic formatting options are quite simple. As we need to know coding to really customize the layout.

“Pretty simple and well-arranged”
Pros
Canvas is pretty simple and keeps everything well-arranged. I found it easy to find my way around when I took online classes.
Cons
Locating certain sections could be tricky occasionally though that was probably due to how the professor set up the course page.

“Relied on it for ten years”
Pros
Our K-12 district has relied on Canvas for over ten years. We have grown alongside the company as it expanded into the K-12 space and we love the benefits we have received from being early adopters.
Cons
One of the biggest challenge right now is switching over from the old classic Quizzes to the new New Quizzes online assessment tool.

“essential for grades and homework tracking”
Pros
I have used this platform since high school, throughout college and now in grad school as it's been incredibly useful! Before our school used it, we had no way to track our grades or homework progress and everything was done on paper. Once we started using it in high school, it was a huge help for students. A major advantage is being able to check our grades which is so important. Before we had to constantly ask our professors which was a struggle. Now we can check grades daily, submit homework online and learn from clearly structured modules. I also love that they have an app for phones and tablets, complete with alerts which makes it much easier to keep track of all my schoolwork.
Cons
Honestly there are not any real downsides. If I had to mention one, it would be the occasional update window that blocks access for a few hours.
