“Amazing positive reinforcement features”

Pros

It does a wonderful job of creating a strong classroom community online for students, teachers and families. Its positive reinforcement features really motivate learners to keep trying, work harder and stay engaged while still enjoying what they are doing.

Cons

I noticed that it can create some competition and tension between students which can lead them to pay more attention to earning points or outperforming others than to the actual learning.

Pros

From the first use, it feels very user friendly. It helps users of all experience levels feel comfortable and confident while using it.

Cons

The pricing is the part I am not happy with. I think it should include a few more basic features in the free version.

“Can reach parents quickly”

Pros

Reaching parents quickly especially in urgent situations, is one of the best parts of using it. It makes communication really convenient and helps a lot when I need to get an important message out fast.

Cons

At times, the app can be glitchy and may lag or freeze while I'm using it. I'm also not a fan of how often it pushes purchases or wants me to buy something.

Keeping in touch with students is simple and it works really well for running my classes and assigning as well as checking homework. It's simple to use once you're in it and it helped me manage daily class activities without much trouble.

Since I've been teaching for many years, the app did feel a bit confusing at first. After using it for online classes almost every day though, I got comfortable with it pretty quickly. The parents were also a little confused in the beginning but they eventually got used to it too.

Back when I was in university prep school, my English teacher used this program for weekly quizzes. It made teaching and learning feel fun and the whole experience was really enjoyable.

It really helps keep communication between parents and teachers active and organized which makes staying updated much simpler. It also supports a more positive classroom culture by encouraging engagement and reinforcing good behavior in a way that feels motivating.

The interface could be more user-friendly, as some parts feel a bit awkward to navigate. There are also some privacy concerns that can make users hesitant and since it depends on an internet connection, it is not always reliable in every situation.

It's really nice that the teacher shares pictures of my daughter through the app.

One of the best parts is the direct communication between parents and teachers and I also appreciate being able to send encouraging messages and photos to my child. Those little notes of encouragement really meant a lot to mine and always made them happy.

The only part that didn't sit well with me was during the initial setup, when it immediately pushed an upgrade and payment. It gives the impression that you need to pay right away even though the basic free version still lets you use the platform and interact just fine.

“Privacy handled well, alerts are not”

Pros

It does a good job protecting children's privacy since photos can be shared without giving people the ability to download them.

Cons

There's no email notification option when you use the app. App users only get push notifications and email alerts only come through if you log out and access it through a web browser. I get countless push notifications every day and end up missing most of them so this just doesn't feel like a dependable way to communicate with parents. On top of that, this limitation isn't clearly explained anywhere on the platform. Because of this setup, I've missed important updates from my child's teacher while using the app. I even asked tech support back in 2017 to add email notifications and it still hasn't happened. To make matters worse, in August 2023 they pushed an update that tried to force users onto the app and remove web browser use altogether by not giving any way to close the app download pop-up. That would have completely taken away email notifications. After I complained, they rolled the update back and allowed browser access again.

“Kids love the fun rewards!!”

Pros

The monsters, bright colours, customization and Dojo Island are a big hit with the kids. It keeps things fun for them and definitely boosts their motivation.

Cons

I'm happy with pretty much everything but I do feel a tutorial would help. I also wish there were a more simple option available on the side.

“Keeps getting better”

Pros

After using it for years, I've seen it keep getting better over time. I rely on it to track student behavior and stay in touch with parents. My students can also keep an eye on their own points so they know when they've earned enough to redeem rewards in our class store. The randomizer button is really helpful for calling on students and being able to create groups is another feature I really enjoy.

Cons

I'm satisfied with all the features included in the latest version.
