“Seeing real progress”

Pros

It's really nice to watch students and their family members make such positive progress at school.

Cons

I originally assumed it would only focus on your child during their in-class activities.

“Lets me receive personal notes”

Pros

Staying in touch with the teacher through the app has been really convenient. Class announcements are shared clearly with all parents and I also receive personal notes sent directly to me when needed.

Cons

I honestly haven't run into any downsides yet and I've been using it for the past three years.

“Love the customizable character”

Pros

Being able to stay in touch with my child's teacher through this app has been really valuable. That sense of connection matters a lot and ClassDojo really helps create it. We also really enjoy the little character you can customize for my child.

During the pandemic, I used this website with my boss's kids and also with my friends' kids and it worked out really well for them. It kept them engaged because it felt like a fun activity, while they were still learning at the same time.

Honestly, I can't think of any real downside. The only reason I don't use it anymore is that my boss's kids have gotten older and moved on from it.

“Reliable tool”

Pros

It has been a very dependable digital tool for our program, helping families and teachers work together to support student learning and behavior more effectively.

Cons

The part that has been least useful for our staff is the attendance tracking feature, mainly because our program already has an attendance system in place. If we didn't already have one established, we would be happy to use ClassDojo's attendance tracking.

“Instant teacher contact”

Pros

Being able to message the teacher almost right away is really helpful.

Cons

You have to pay to view their chores and see the pictures the teacher uploads there.

Its so easy to operate and sending messages to parents is something I really appreciate.

Cons

I honestly don't have any complaints about it.

“Live updates on the go”

Pros

Getting notifications instantly on phones and tablets is really useful. Teachers can also send messages with updates about clubs, term dates and other school information which helps keep everything current.

Cons

A lot of the information can feel quite generic and doesn't always apply specifically to our child.

“Fun characters for school”

Pros

I enjoyed being able to create my own characters and also check out the ones other people made on the app.

Cons

Honestly, there wasn't anything I disliked. It was a really cool app to use at school.

“Takes the pressure off me”

Pros

Having the random student selector built in really helps take the pressure off me and I also enjoy that it lets me choose different background music.

Cons

I do wish there were more background music options available because it feels like the selection hasn't been updated in quite a while.

The best part is how customizable it is and that really helps make it interactive and engaging for the kids.

I honestly don't have any complaints about the app. It's extremely user-friendly.

“Works on any mobile device”

Pros

It feels really unique because it gives parents a simple way to see how their child is doing during the school day. School can be challenging so it helps a lot when teachers can quickly share something a student did well or mention an area they need to improve. It works on any mobile device and I usually check it on my phone without any issues. Seeing the high fives come through is always fun especially when I can see what they were given for.

Cons

The only possible downside I can think of is that there may be some paid token feature or something similar. I honestly don't remember clearly so it's not really much of a negative for me.

Pros

Getting messages from my child's teachers right away has been really valuable.

Cons

I'd love to have the ability to send a group message to all the teachers connected to my student.

“Centralized solution”

Pros

Having one convenient place to reach my children's teacher is something I really appreciate whenever I need to send a message. It's also nice being able to scroll through the feed and check out the photos the teacher posts of the activities the class has been doing lately.

Cons

My only real complaint is that parents are expected to use this app to communicate with the teacher yet some features are locked behind the free account limitations. If the app is required for parent communication, I feel all of the features should be included and fully accessible.

“Has a separate interface for kids”

Pros

my sons' teacher can message both me and their mother at the same time which has been really helpful especially with the group chat feature. We get updates about homework, classwork and any problems coming up at school and even the principal and support staff send messages about school events. The amount of communication through the app is honestly hard to beat. We had tried a few other apps before this and they really didn't come close in terms of usability. There's even a separate interface for kids which is a nice touch. My children are still a little too young to use that part but they'll be there soon.

Cons

We're using the free version right now and the setup process can be a little frustrating especially if the teacher shares the wrong code. You can't just search for the teacher by name and join that way so you have to rely on having the correct invite code. I understand that it helps with security but it still feels a bit inconvenient.

Pros

Something that really works for me is how eager both my daughter and my students are to open the app, check their feedback and update their character. That feature really grabs their attention and keeps them interested.

Cons

There are no drawbacks. Everything has been excellent so far.

The students really enjoy checking the points they earn throughout the day and the messaging tools have been really useful for me.

A lot of parents disable notifications so it mainly works well with the ones who actually want to stay involved.

Using ClassDojo feels very simple and it's user-friendly for both teachers and parents. Reaching out to families is also really convenient since all the contact details are available right in the app which makes my work much less complicated.

Cons

The number of pop-ups gets annoying. I usually just have to close them out, whether they're ads or simply part of how the app is designed.

Its so easy to use. The platform feels very user-friendly and provides plenty of helpful information.

Keeping up with all of the teachers through this has been really helpful because I always know exactly what my child needs.

not every school uses it so my other children still have to rely on PBIS rewards.
