I found the platform difficult to master, its interface feels dated and I needed a lot of help from my IT team.

Pros

I find it really handy since it keeps all the information in a single place. Every discipline, assignment, homework and teaching resource is posted there for easy access. I can also look up people, teachers or fellow students directly on the platform. We leaned on it a great deal when our classes went online during the Covid period.

Cons

The mobile version feels poorly adapted and the interface and visual design could definitely be improved. Apart from that, it does fulfill its role as a place to share course materials. I would also prefer a cleaner structure and a more simple flow.

I found the platform simple to use and I used it across two separate institutions. It was really easy to communicate with my instructor and I loved being able to view all my assignments, due dates and grades.

As an end user, I didn't run into any particular issues and my instructors appreciated having a ready-made template to structure their courses.

Everything in the interface is labeled exactly where I'd expect so I find the software very easy to use and overall user-friendly. I also appreciate being able to see grades and assignments in real time and I can interact with my teachers through the platform. To me, it's an ideal system for online learning, covering everything from course management to assessments and class discussions.

Cons

I've only used it from the student perspective so I can't tell whether it's difficult to manage from an administrator's point of view. From what I've experienced so far, I only have positive things to say about it.

It didn't meet my expectations though I suspect that's more about it not being the appropriate tool for this job. I can, however, envision advantages in other areas.

I still rely on it as an effective tool for communicating with students and delivering asynchronous course content. It also complies with required accessibility standards and connects directly with our campus technology, Ellucian.

Sometimes videos take a long time to buffer despite a solid internet connection something I've noticed frequently. Also, customizing the learning environment to our needs can be frustratingly difficult.

I really value the strong student-teacher interaction, the user and admin management tools, the affordability and the simple, easy-to-use features and UI.

Honestly I don't have anything negative to point out. I feel it is excellent and once the lingering bugs are ironed out, I'm confident it will be very successful.

Being a computer science student, I really appreciate this learning platform because it's a single place where I can get all my course materials and upload some of my assignments. The layout is tidy and well-organized and it handles multiple file types and activity formats without much fuss.

Cons

The platform feels pretty dated and I often have to click through too many layers just to find a particular document. The mobile app is noticeably weaker than the desktop site and its notifications are inconsistent. Also, whenever I try to attach and submit a file it demands an excessive number of confirmations and clicks. I've even missed deadlines because I forgot one out of five confirmation steps during submission.

For our team, it's adaptability has been a major plus and it's ideally designed for organized learning setups. It allowed us to roll out and oversee safety training courses in a dependable, consistent and well-structured manner.

Cons

User interface feels somewhat old-fashioned and can be confusing for people who are new to the platform. Installing and configuring it takes a fair amount of time and technical expertise especially for those who are administering the system.

I've found it to be a solid online platform for building and organizing course materials. It's accessible, keeps data secure and there's reliable online support when I need assistance.

Cons

What I like least is that I often don't find it being used by the public educational institutions I work with. Instead I see them choosing alternatives like Canvas or Brightspace which can be frustrating for course consistency.

It's really adaptable and easy to adjust to different learning goals. I can clearly track progress and assessments and it scales well when I'm managing large numbers of learners.

The interface seems a bit dated next to newer platforms and I've noticed the initial setup can eat up a lot of time unless I have tech support to help.

From my viewpoint although it's still very active and well supported some of its paradigms are beginning to feel outdated and in need of modernization.

Moodle has a very powerful interface and feels quite user-friendly, giving me flexible options for scheduling, delivering lessons and handling assessments. I also appreciate that it's free to use and doesn't cost anything to get started.

Cons

Although it is free, dealing with hosting, applying updates and getting reliable customer support can be quite troublesome. I also struggle with its inconsistent structure which makes organizing files and folders more difficult than it should be.

“Full-featured LMS

Pros

One of the things I appreciate is that the platform is open source which allows me to run it for free if I provide my own hosting. It isn't some basic, throwaway solution. It's a full-featured learning management system that handles a wide range of assignment formats and makes grading simple. The level of teacher-student interaction is configurable. I can configure a course and let it run unattended or keep it active with daily teacher participation. The documentation is thorough enough that I never once had to contact customer support. It also integrated seamlessly with the course I authored using Rise 360.

Cons

It did take me a while to work out how to install and configure it on a free hosting platform as an administrator. I ran into problems because the free plan didn't give me the level of server access the software expects. After some digging I was able to find a workaround that meets the needs of the low-usage environment I'm supporting but it wasn't immediate or obvious.

I really appreciate how well it works on my phone and how everything is arranged week by week. I also receive grading updates through emails and notifications so it's easy for me to spot when new material has been posted.

Cons

Sometimes it behaves differently when opening files on different devices and that can throw me off. I've noticed that newly uploaded files don't always appear where I expect so I end up spending extra time searching through the course to find the latest items.

Pros

I find it fairly easy to get around, with a wide range of features and customization options available although I haven't explored every activity and resource yet. Overall it does what I need.

Cons

The system feels a bit clunky and I don't find some settings easy to locate. Also when I paste content with tables the formatting can be awkward and hard to fix.

Well the connection can be unreliable at times. We have also had issues where a teacher shares a file but we cannot see it until the entire session is restarted.

We really like the option to include many different content types. There are also various features available for creating tests. The support team has been extremely helpful whenever we faced a problem.

We often run into performance issues when a lot of students take quizzes at the same time, things start slowing down or timing out. Another problem is that our custom plugins frequently break whenever the platform has an update

It is open-source, free to use, highly customizable and packed with features. The community support is great too and it works well for many different teaching styles.

Cons

I noticed that it has a steep learning curve and can be complex to navigate. You might run into performance issues and the interface is not the most user friendly. Getting it set up and configured can be difficult too and might require technical skill or professional help.

The open-source plugins are a real game-changer. They take some effort for our admins to set up but they make the classroom experience much smoother and more engaging when everything is running.

Configuring all the features can be very time-consuming and overwhelming. There are also small bugs that can cause a feature we spent time setting up to not work properly.

Building learning modules is still a very time-consuming process. The theming options are also quite limited if we want a fully customized look that does not resemble the standard Moodle interface. So you will likely need a skilled developer to build advanced features or to integrate it smoothly into an existing intranet.
