Fast and flexible

Pros

I use this e-learning platform because it's agile, practical and really easy to handle. I always consider it a solid choice for online education. It's flexible, lets me make changes without difficulty and offers a variety of collaborative tools that work well for group learning.

Cons

When I don't establish a clear structure or proper scheduling on the platform, content can end up with broken links, empty sections or irritating runtime errors that frustrate learners. Since I create the classroom, it's on me to build a secure, complete space and pay attention to setup details if I want a reliable online learning experience.

Lets me reach course materials from anywhere

Pros

One thing I appreciated most about it was how it let me reach course materials from anywhere and submit assignments as well as sit exams online so I didn't have to be physically present at my school or college.

Cons

The main problem with it is its weakness in grading open-ended questions. It often doesn't evaluate answers written in a student's own words properly which can be frustrating when assessments rely on free-text responses.

Courses can be completed remotely

Pros

It lets me access the company's professional training courses, effectively solving the issues tied to attending in-person sessions since the courses are offered asynchronously and can be completed remotely.

Cons

I don't have any negative comments about the software.

3.0

Unreliable and complex

Pros

I found it to be quite affordable which is why I felt comfortable giving it a try. For the low price, it offered a surprisingly substantial set of features.

Cons

We saw real promise in Moodle yet a bunch of inconsistencies pushed us to look for something better. The interface wasn't very user-friendly which triggered many complaints from our users. On top of that, unexpected outages and occasional bugs kept cropping up and caused frustration among my team and our students. In the end, the platform felt too unreliable and uneven for us to confidently depend on it.

Supports the learning journey

Pros

It gives teachers huge flexibility to build detailed educational materials, carefully tweak how learners interact with content, accurately track student progress, actively support the overall learning journey and smoothly connect with external resources and tools. Its modular architecture, paired with perhaps the most dedicated community, enables truly impressive, real-world outcomes. It's open-source at its finest!

Cons

Just like any powerful software architecture, a considerable and ongoing effort is required to keep these systems evolving. Constant maintenance, contributor coordination and regular updates are part of the work. I see this clearly within an open-source development community like Moodle. For a long time the user interface fell behind but with Version 4 they've finally addressed it and delivered tangible, relevant results. I expect more improvements as major new connectivity and social elements begin to be incorporated.

Useful collection of tools

Pros

As an instructor, I appreciate the range of tools it offers that simplify course administration and I can easily check how each student is progressing through the material.

Cons

Every so often I notice content or pages become slow and a bit awkward to use though in my experience those hiccups tend to sort themselves out fairly fast.

Easy to connect with other tools

Pros

I find it simple to use and connect with other tools and after registering my site I was able to use Moodle's app as well.

Cons

Although a few features were somewhat tricky for me to understand at first, I became comfortable using the platform once I got the hang of them.

Breaks subjects down into meaningful chunks

Pros

It enables me to access a wide range of university and high-school courses. It breaks subjects down into meaningful chunks and offers very effective study methods. For example, in my kinesiology class it separated movement types from muscle functions and then connected them in a really useful way. Those techniques addressed teaching challenges I had and made learning much easier with some truly impressive approaches.

Cons

I passed many exams using Moodle while studying less than usual, it helped me a great deal. Because of those results, I honestly can't think of any real downsides to mention.

All in one academic platform

Pros

Being in college, I consider this a highly complete and easy-to-use platform. Across multiple courses and assignments over time, I've had consistently positive experiences using it.

Cons

I've noticed that even though Moodle could bring all the academic content together and acted as a useful reference for both instructors and students, it often ran into glitches and outages that made us miss grades or spend extra time redoing quizzes and other evaluations.

Not for me

Pros

Even though I appreciate how many features open-source software offers and how simple it can be to operate, I still find that I inevitably need some technical support from time to time.

Cons

Moodle is widely used and I can see why many people like it. There's nothing obvious to complain about yet for my own needs I discovered it simply wasn't the right tool.

Wonderful system for learning

Pros

Any environment where classes or other learning tasks have to happen asynchronously really benefits from Moodle's capabilities. I use it to post and submit materials, create interactive discussion threads, set up quizzes and exams with built-in grading, track and evaluate progress and keep attendance logs. To me, it's an excellent system for managing learning overall. It's simple to manage and packed with useful tools that genuinely make students' academic lives simpler.

Cons

It doesn't send alerts to students when a new activity is posted or when a deadline is coming up in just a few hours so I often miss time-sensitive tasks. Also, using it on an iOS device can be frustrating because uploading photos or documents sometimes takes many extra steps and fiddly configuration which makes the whole process more complex than it needs to be.

Lets me track activities of my colleagues

Pros

What I appreciate most about this software is that it lets me see every course so I always know what my colleagues are working on and can keep track of their activities and materials.

Cons

I'd improve the visual design for example, I'd introduce different colored folder icons to make things clearer and the interface more visually appealing.

Media available for lectures

Pros

The lectures are neatly organized and each session has its accompanying media available and I really like the user-friendly UI.

Cons

I noticed they moved the lecture recordings to an external site and I suspect the change was made because it made it easier to download them.

Incredible course selection feature

Pros

One thing that really impressed me was the course selection feature that shows the classes Im enrolled in since it makes using and managing my courses really simple and user-friendly.

Cons

What I liked least was the real-time chat feature because it feels unreliable and clunky when I try to have live conversations with classmates.

Budget-friendly option

Pros

I've used it to run my courses and teach students and when I picked it I was told it would be significantly less expensive than the other commercially available products.

Cons

Given all of the modern tools on the market, I don't think Moodle stacks up well against platforms like Blackboard or Brightspace in terms of features and polish.
