Katanas platform is incredibly user friendly and offers excellent inventory management functionality. I particularly value its 'Make to Batch' feature, which enables tracking of pre-produced products and future drawdowns.

This software feels fantastic, making my work incredibly efficient. As someone working in software/web design/development, I can truly appreciate the attention given to this complex platform.

Cons

There isn't much that we dislike about the software. Most of the minor issues are already being addressed in the development cycle. These include things like the ability to customize Katana more to suit our specific needs, such as column order, custom fields, and field mapping of API connections.

The manufacturing order process is a bit slow since you can only add one product per MO. This limitation might not be ideal for businesses that create a lot of products daily.

“Katana for seamless manufacturing

Pros

The seamless integration and recipe functionality are what I adore about Katana. I can digitally create a product just as I would in the real world, incorporating various materials and operations into sub-products. Ultimately, all these components are embedded into the 'recipe' of the final product, creating a holistic approach that I find truly remarkable.

Cons

As a small manufacturer, we felt like Katana was the only decent option available, but the high price can be a burden for small teams. However, it has already proven its worth and paid for itself.

This application is incredibly easy to use, and it has significantly streamlined our manufacturing process, eliminating unnecessary hours spent in the warehouse.

Katana works flawlessly for stock management and bills of materials, providing me with the basic functionalities I need.

The software lacks any sort of calendar or Gantt chart functionality. It also performs poorly when it comes to time planning and recording task durations. For instance, you can't input that you start your working day at half-past the hour, as only full hours are allowed. Additionally, you can't block out time for holidays or meetings. These limitations make the software useless for planning time and providing accurate lead times to customers.

The software's intuitiveness is exceptional, with everything logically organized. The flow between different areas is seamless, and I'm thrilled with the ability to customize the quote templates now.

So far I havent found anything negative. There have been a few bugs, but they mostly seem to be related to the cache.

As I work on setting up our initial inventory, the spreadsheets and uploads are generally straightforward and easy to comprehend.

Whenever I try to upload files, some of them don't go through, and it's not always clear why.

I don't have much to say, but it would be great if we could use this software for our entire sales process, including accepting payments for sales orders. However, I understand that's not its intended purpose.

Katana ensures we stay organized in both inventory management and our manufacturing process, which is immensely beneficial for our operations.

I've noticed that many new features are only available in the highest priced tier of the software, which is too expensive for a small business like ours.

“Intuitive, Fast To Implement, and Beautifully Designed

Pros

The clean and intuitive user interface of Katana is a game-changer. I didn't need much time to learn the system as compared to other complicated MRP solutions we tried. The batch-tracking and inventory management features are easily adaptable to our business. In contrast, other systems we tested were clearly not designed with food manufacturing in mind. Katana simply works.

Cons

While the software is generally user-friendly and has the ability to track batches/lots (which is crucial for us) we've had to find workarounds to make it function the way we need. It doesn't handle this aspect the way I envision it should. There are also some minor time-consuming tasks. If there's one simple change I wish they would make, it's allowing us to manually type in expiration dates instead of having to scroll through the calendar to select the correct date. This becomes burdensome when receiving multiple items on a purchase order and having to manually click through the calendar each time.

Pros

The process flow of order fulfillment, purchasing, manufacturing, and inventory control is crystal clear with Katana.

Cons

I don't have the option to create a kitting BOM (Combo product). Additionally, the format of the currency is not visually appealing and difficult to read.

The navigation and implementation of Katana are incredibly easy, and the support provided is excellent. The color coding feature is also a nice touch.

Cons

I'm not sure how to upload documents, and its frustrating that I can't add multiple sale and purchase accounts. It's also inconvenient that I can't ship partial sale orders.

Katana has made our manufacturing process incredibly easy. Our orders from Shopify flow directly into Katana, saving us a tremendous amount of time.

We still wish we could add images to products. We requested this feature early on and were told it would be implemented, but it hasn't happened yet.

“Does everything it says it will

Pros

Getting all the features to work seamlessly isn't always easy, based on my experience. However with Katana it's both powerful and straightforward. Even though it offers a lot of functionality, I highly recommend investing a little time in watching their excellent training videos. Once I did that, everything fell perfectly into place, and the integration with Xero was effortless. As we continue using the system and input more information, I amm confident it will provide us with even more valuable insights.

Cons

I only have a couple of minor concerns. I would prefer the ability to enter dates manually instead of always having to select them from a calendar (typing is faster for me). It would also be helpful if, when "making" a product and all the components of its sub assembly are available, the software would automatically proceed down the line and make the lowest assembly level. However, these are minor issues that wouldn't prevent me from wholeheartedly recommending Katana.

We are still in the process of implementing Katana, but we have found it easy to understand and customize according to our needs.

We will have a better understanding of the software as we start using it more seriously soon.
