Small Manufacturing MRP

Pros

The inventory management software is great considering its price

Cons

I wish Katana had better compatibility with other programs, especially Extensive which we use for most of our other plugins. It would also be great if there was a way to track cutting programs.

Kina Group and the Katana Experience.

Pros

What I appreciate the most about Katana is its Knowledge Base. It provides answers to all my questions and has resourceful tutorials on how to navigate the system

Cons

As a newcomer to the system, I haven't encountered anything that I dislike about Katana so far.

A Thoughtful New Take on MRPs

Pros

The ease of use, in comparison to larger MRP systems, helps me keep my team on track.

Cons

There are a few missing features that I wish Katana had, such as custom fields and tiered pricing.

Working with Katana

Pros

It's extremely easy to use. After using other systems like inFlow, I find its visually clean interface refreshing. Using it is truly satisfying.

Cons

I have very few complaints. One thing I wonder is why they don't allow non-stock items (we can't be the only ones!). We have to create imaginary non-stock items to keep the system running smoothly, but it's a minor gripe that doesn't affect us much.

Katana for a small manufacturer

Pros

Managing products and variants is made easy with Katana. Since our products have numerous variants, it's convenient to handle them all at once. Our previous MRP system required us to create a unique BOM for each variant, which was time consuming

Cons

There are a few improvements I'd like to see in Katana. Firstly, the ability to set a minimum order quantity. Secondly, the option to reject or separate second-quality parts in a manufacturing lot. It would also be helpful to have an easy way to view the product list without breaking it down into variants. Additionally, it would be great to have the ability to show only certain BOM items on the shop floor app, as consumables like glue and tape don't need to be displayed.

Food Manufacturing ERP system

Pros

I really love the user interface and how easy it is to work with the system. It's very intuitive, and with the instructional videos, I was able to grasp the basics quickly. The flexibility the system offers in terms of uploading information through Excel is impressive. Additionally, the seamless integration with QuickBooks Online is a nice feature

Cons

One of the missing features, which they are currently working on, is SKU-based sales forecasting. This would be a valuable addition as it would allow us to input our expected sales for each SKU and have the system forecast demand. Another issue is that when we have a price rule for a client in QuickBooks, Katana doesn't recognize it. So, when the invoice is pushed to QuickBooks, we have to manually accept the price rule for each individual line. It's not a major issue, but it can be a bit of a hassle.

First time Katana user

Pros

The setup process is quick and easy, and the customer service is exceptional. We appreciate the simple interface, which makes training others a breeze. The Excel templates allow us to bulk upload all the necessary data categories without the need for manual uploading.

Cons

It would be more convenient if Katana had a more circular workflow, as sometimes you have to jump back and forth within the system to complete a task. Regarding the production operation feature, it would be helpful if there was an option to set a default number of labor hours per task, so it isn't required with each manufacturing order setup.

Katana is great!

Pros

Setting up and using Katana is extremely easy and user-friendly The online resources they provide are incredibly helpful and I found the Katana Academy videos to be the most beneficial.

Cons

Currently Katana doesn't have a way to account for "wasted" products, although they are working on implementing a program to address this. The only real complaint is that it doesn't support fractions. Since our products are divided into 12, inputting recipes and BOMs becomes challenging because 1 is not divisible by 12 evenly. We have to make stock adjustments to maintain accurate inventory counts.

Taking my manufacturing business to a new level of efficiency and control.

Pros

It's great because I can efficiently manage my inventory, work orders, scheduling and tracking all in one place

Cons

One area where I think Katana could improve is the flexibility of customization. While it offers a wide range of features, sometimes I wish I could further customize certain aspects to better suit the specific needs of my business.

KAtana manufacturing Erp

Pros

One of the main advantages of Katana Manufacturing ERP is its user-friendly interface. Navigating the platform is easy, and the drag and drop functionality simplifies the production planning process. Real-time inventory tracking is also available, allowing businesses to monitor material and product stock levels. The platform integrates well with e-commerce

Cons

Some users have reported issues with the accuracy of the platform's inventory management system, particularly during inventoryreconciliation. The platform may not be suitable for complex manufacturing processes.

Very poor MRP overrated in reviews, with good service

Pros

The customer service is excellent, and it's easy to use, especially in the beginning.

Cons

From my perspective it seems like the designers and programmers have never worked in a company. There are no discounts or price differentiation options, and the point of sales functionality is lacking. The scanning capability is very limited, and user rights are not differentiated. There's also no history of document changes, and the software can be quite buggy.

Katana is Great for small business

Pros

It's easy to use both as a user and an admin. The learning curve is low, but the success rate is high

Cons

Personally, I find it really unintuitive to communicate with my users using the shop floor app. I prefer taking the time to talk to them directly rather than leaving notes back and forth. Additionally, the reports never seem to work for me. I've never been able to pull a report or print a packing slip due to the link always dying. Luckily, I can retrieve the report from our accounting software, or else my rating would probably be lower.

It's a good start

Pros

We appreciate the capability to create manufacturing orders, as it allows everyone involved to see the planned timeline and due dates. The ability to prioritize orders is particularly helpful for managing inventory assignments

Cons

It's quite cumbersome for me to identify products that are ready to ship on each order. I have to individually click into each order to see if any items are ready. There's no easy way to switch to the next order without closing the current window and clicking on the next order. It would be nice to have the ability to toggle between orders within the same window. It would also be helpful to have a drop-down or hover-over feature that quickly shows if partial shipments are available.

A critical piece of our business that we can't live without

Pros

It offers great value and is likely the only affordable cloud solution available in the market.

Cons

This software is excellent for data entry, but it falls short when it comes to using that data to run your business. There are no dashboards or views that provide insights. However, they have addressed this issue by integrating with Easy-Insight and Stocktrim. Now that those integrations are in place, I'm completely satisfied.

Overpriced and insecure

Pros

The software has the potential to be excellent

Cons

The limited user levels are a major drawback. There are only two levels: "Superusers" with access to all features, and warehouse operators with access to BOM instructions. The lack of intermediate levels, such as a sales team, is a significant limitation.
