Insight and understanding

Pros

Redzone has provided us with the insights and understanding we were missing about our processes. The best part is that the entire organization can access this visibility. Operators, managers, quality control, maintenance, and executives can all see simultaneous information. The inclusion of Google Translate has improved communication among our employees and across departments. With Redzone, we gain a clear understanding of production line performance and can identify downtime causes and quality/process efficiency issues. It has been instrumental in creating and testing solutions.

Cons

Redzone has surpassed our expectations. The ability to access and interact with the program using an iPad or iPhone is a significant advantage although having access through a computer would also be nice.

Georgia Nut Experience

Pros

The software has been fantastic, easy to use, review data, and generate reports.

Cons

Figuring out the cycle for our batch processing took longer compared to the straightforward in and out process on a packaging line. Apart from that, the software has met our needs and has provided support.

Redzone at a Snack Company

Pros

I love the intuitive interface. Our operators quickly learned how to use the software, making it highly effective. Redzone has opened our eyes to what's happening on the floor and what needs to be addressed to minimize downtime.

Cons

Due to the large number of SKUs we have, adjusting rates can be time consuming.

Phillips Review

Pros

I appreciate the visibility of plant performance, improved communication, and increased employee engagement throughout the production plant. It provides accurate data on downtime causes and costs, and the coaching in process improvement events is invaluable.

Cons

Downtime as a percentage of runtime and counts for product and line changes are not accurately reflected, causing discrepancies.

Great Product!

Pros

Redzone is more than just an OEE tracking system; it's an excellent communication tool that gives our production floor team a voice. The user interface is intuitive and designed with the core principles of continuous improvement in mind. The system includes fantastic features like messaging and "high 5" that enhance employee engagement, recognition, and communication.

Cons

We still have some work to integrate Redzone with our SAP system, but the Redzone technical team is providing us with full support.

Lean partner that continually improves their services

Pros

Redzone is not your typical MES software. It's difficult to define precisely. Together with the visual workplace software, Redzone provides coaching on how to effectively use the system. It combines software, standardized lean approaches, and custom lean consulting to create a visual workplace and manage a highly productive and collaborative work environment.

Cons

Managing some of the features through the iOS interface can be cumbersome. However, the customer service is helpful in making the management process easier.

Redzone Production System - UTZ Brands

Pros

The availability of data at the line and the improved accuracy of our data capture have been gamechangers. They form the foundation for identifying opportunities to reduce waste and improve productivity. The compliance module has been vital in standardizing processes across all our facilities and is a cornerstone of our Food Safety Program. Auditors have even recognized us as best in class because of Redzone and our application of the software. Lastly, the improved communication across plants, particularly through the chat functionality, has been surprisingly critical to our overall improvement efforts.

Cons

I cannot think of any cons to share. The software has delivered a lot of value and we continue to learn and expand our utilization.

Are you ready to listen to your employees on the production floor?

Pros

This software allows me to see how I'm performing in real time on the production floor. It empowers me to fix issues I know how to address and communicate with management when I need assistance. It's a comprehensive tool that replaces and enhances the Lean tools we use in our facility.

Cons

There is really nothing to dislike about it.

Red zone

Pros

I personally view the software from a management perspective, but I've heard great feedback from our team members who love using it. It has created accountability at all levels in our company. I must also commend the fantastic onboarding process our team provides.

Cons

I have nothing negative to say the software works great.

More than just an MES

Pros

While Redzone is often categorized as an MES, it goes beyond that. It's a transformative cultural tool for our team members. The software doesn't just provide performance feedback; it changes behaviors and teaches us how to perform our jobs more effectively. This transformation is facilitated not only by the software but also by the Redzone coaches who work closely with our team, fostering engagement and ownership. I've had the opportunity to implement Redzone in multiple plants, including contract manufacturers, and every site that adopts Redzone experiences a significant boost in manufacturing performance and employee engagement.

Cons

The software is iOS based, and there are no options for Windows desktop. However, we can easily overcome this by using iPads and Smart TVs.

RedZone is one of the greatest CI tools that combines all the lean tools into one source.

Pros

The instant visibility into the production floor's activities is remarkable. Operators using the software can easily understand what optimal performance looks like and compare themselves to others. This empowers operators and makes them feel more in control.

Cons

The performance rates should be tied to an engineering standard or what the filler/machine is capable of in an ideal situation. These performance rates can change over time.

A game- and culture-changer for us

Pros

Redzone Production Systems equips smaller companies with the tools, data, and insights that larger companies can afford more easily. The approach is universally understandable, even for employees whose primary language isn't English. It's engaging and enjoyable for the team to see how their contributions impact the facility's efficient operation. Having data and insights at their fingertips allows them to interact with senior management and showcase their understanding of our plant's operations. Additionally, the coaching staff provides knowledge and skills that many small to midsize businesses can't typically afford fulltime.

Cons

The entire process, from the first sales call to our most recent meeting, has always been very valuable and collaborative.

RedZone helped us transform from ordinary to extraordinary

Pros

As an established food manufacturer in the confectionary industry, we had become complacent with our existing habits and processes. RedZone became the perfect tool and program to push us out of our comfort zone and strive for more. Importantly, it focused on educating, informing, and empowering our line workers and operators to make better decisions based on data relevant to their work. The three standout features that differentiate RedZone from other systems are: 1) The ease and speed of implementation, which surpassed our expectations; 2) The empowerment it provides to line workers and operators, fostering creativity and healthy competition on our factory floor; and 3) The combination of excellent data and targeted coaching, which has been truly impactful.

Cons

There wasnt much that we had a problem with. For a medium-sized operation, it is not inexpensive, but considering our payback and value, it was well worth it.

Redzone Productivity Module

Pros

The greatest strength of Redzone is its transparency and visibility into all production area activities. Another outstanding feature is the ease of communication with other departments using the Line Log feature. This software has significantly increased interdepartmental engagement within our company.

Cons

The fact that it is iOS based can be both good and bad. I would like to have the ability to see the Redzone information on a device other than my iPad, iPhone, or Apple TV.

Years of Growth

Pros

The software's application is universally simple. During my first implementation, most of our operations team members had English as their second language, if they spoke it at all. However, the software's intuitive interface bridged any potential language barriers. In fact, it acted as a bridge, facilitating communication with our team members. Over the years, the cultural impact has transformed our plant from a reactive to a proactive and predictive culture. The team leveraged the knowledge gained to drive daily improvements, no matter how small, as the cumulative impact was tracked and easily expressed. The software provided visibility to even the simplest actions and appropriately recognized individual contributions. It broke down departmental silos, enabling clear communication with photos and videos. Finger pointing ended, and real communication thrived, driving continuous improvements. It also offered leadership a unique insight into the relationships between groups, fundamentally changing how we communicate and improving coaching at all levels.

Cons

If I have any aspects I like less, it would be two fundamental pieces. First, the IOS only platform is not as suitable for our PC-based business. We can use the data mining tool within the IOS, but it is not as easily compatible with our standard platform. Second, the Tableau Software used for data mining on the PC is not user-friendly. I have been fortunate to have a dedicated CI person using the tool for 8 years, but without this person, extracting the data would be more challenging. The RedZone team is well versed in Tableau, so there is always help, but in a pinch, you may need to experiment for a while to get what you need.

Blommer Chocolate

Pros

Realtime data, communication features, and compliance monitoring provide timely information on the performance of our various locations.

Cons

Cycle locations are not intuitive and have many inherent issues associated with them. We had to use them in several of our locations. It seems that not many Redzone customers have to use cycle locations, so there is very little development and improvement in this area by the Redzone team. This has been frustrating.

Sandridge Review

Pros

I appreciate how the productivity module focuses on providing visual feedback.

Cons

The SPC module is challenging to use effectively, and the Compliance module's inability to enforce completed checks has been a concern. Additionally the Redzone TVs are constantly updating and not functioning properly. I'm not sure if this is a Redzone issue but it has led us to minimize the use of the TVs.

Utz Quality Foods

Pros

The operator use is incredibly easy. Thanks to Steve Jobs, even operators with limited technological skills can successfully interact with the iPad and RZ.

Cons

Sometimes the RZ updates come with bugs, making it difficult until the fixes are rolled out. Perhaps there are too many updates and new features. It would be better to focus on solidifying what they already have.

RedZone's Value to Your Organization

Pros

This software helps foster a collaborative culture within our facility, promoting communication between support functions. It offers excellent options for incorporating pictures and videos into tasks. It also provides flexibility in task generation frequency. The software has multiple layers available, and they have a strict rollout process to avoid overwhelming us with too much at once.

Cons

It does not fully replace a comprehensive CMMS system. While it allows for some data copying between areas not all areas are included, requiring hours of data input to get the system up and running. However, this is a common challenge with many software packages offering similar functionality.
