powerful templates and GDPR support

Pros

From the start, this platform felt very user-friendly and especially useful for SMB and SaaS companies. It comes with plenty of prebuilt templates, is GDPR-compliant and also includes a great transactional system through Mandrill.

Cons

The pricing can feel a bit high if you're mainly using it for transactional email although it makes more sense when used for inbound marketing. The interface also has a few rough spots at times, like not being able to search with free text and select multiple subscribers from a list, such as all *@mailinator.com addresses.

fantastic email marketing platform

Pros

Compared with other email marketing automation tools, this one feels far superior in terms of functionality, interface and the convenience it offers. Everything works in a way that makes the whole process much more comfortable and efficient.

Cons

I don't have any real complaints. I'm a huge fan of the platform and would gladly recommend it to anyone working in email marketing.

fast newsletters with useful reports

Pros

Putting together email newsletters or announcements takes very little time and the whole process feels effortless. The reporting is also really helpful because it shows exactly who in the group isn't engaging.

Cons

One downside is that the emails appear to come directly from your personal account. There's a workaround by creating a separate email address but it would be much better if that could be set up right inside the program.

free templates but confusing lists

Pros

One thing I appreciated was that the platform is free and the templates were simple to work with.

Cons

What bothered me was the way the email mailing list setup works. It requires a title even though there are already tags and segments which made contact segmentation pretty hard to follow. On top of that, getting in touch with someone for help was also difficult.

sleek batch emails for prospecting

Pros

Customizing batch emails with a polished design makes it really effective for reaching out to new clients and customers.

Only thing I'd change is the feature limits that push you to upgrade your account.

helpful plans for small teams

Pros

The free and basic plans cover pretty much everything a small business needs, including some starter automation features.

Cons

There are quite a few bugs in the automation and customer support often isn't able to resolve the issues when they come up.

affordable email campaign toolkit

Pros

It covers the full process for email campaigns, from setup and planning to creation and execution. It works especially well for marketing communication campaigns and getting started with it, integrating it and using it day to day is pretty easy. The pricing is also quite reasonable.

Cons

It falls short when it comes to formal lead generation emails which has been disappointing. In quite a few cases, the analytics especially click data, don't seem to line up with the actual visits. There have also been many times when emails ended up in spam.

fantastic for email series

Pros

One thing I absolutely love is being able to schedule an entire sequence of emails to go out automatically. That's been amazing for things like an email course and in my case, a 5-day welcome series. It also does a really nice job of helping emails look polished, professional and visually appealing.

Cons

Getting started with the software does take some time because there's definitely a learning curve at first. After you get used to how it works though, it becomes much more manageable. I do wish it connected better with my website since it still seems more geared toward e-commerce platforms like Shopify which I don't use. It would be wonderful to see that expanded.

popular and quick to launch

Pros

Part of why this platform became so popular is that it's quite user-friendly. It was clearly an early standout in drag-and-drop email template building and over the years they've added plenty of extra features too. I also appreciate that the company comes across as generous and charitable. There's definitely a lot to explore and you could spend days learning everything it offers but if your needs are fairly basic, it doesn't take long to get started and begin using it effectively.

Cons

Back when it launched, it really was ahead of the market but I'd say it hasn't kept pace with where things are now. It seems like they focused on adding things like landing pages and ads when they really should have spent more time improving their core strength, email marketing. If your setup is simple and you're just emailing the same audience repeatedly, or managing a few sub-lists alongside a main one, it works well enough. But once you're dealing with multiple opt-ins, the platform starts to feel awkward and clunky to navigate, configure and keep organized. You end up relying on a lot of workarounds or managing several separate lists which isn't really ideal. That's exactly the situation I'm in and it's a big reason why a lot of people I know have moved on to other tools. For many businesses, this is such a basic requirement now and I think that's part of why the platform has been losing ground even with the new features added over the last couple of years. I'd really like to see them return to the fundamentals and make meaningful improvements there.

feature-packed email marketing toolkit

Pros

There's a lot packed into this platform in terms of features and functionality. Setting up multiple campaigns is easy, the email builder is very simple to work with and the added HTML option is a big plus for more advanced users. It also connects with a wide range of CRMs and other database management software and the ability to create lead forms is something a lot of competing tools still don't offer.

Cons

Functionally, there really isn't much to complain about. The one thing I do wish worked better is the campaign search. Once you have more than 100 email campaigns, finding the one you need can get a bit confusing. The other downside is the pricing. Compared with similar platforms, it sits on the more expensive side. There is a free version which is helpful for smaller email needs but if you want to get meaningful value out of the service, you'll need to pay.

helpful tools and great integrations

Pros

Getting started with it is pretty easy, there's a big how-to library to rely on, it includes some important integrations and it handles the job it's supposed to do.

Cons

One thing that bothers me is how limited the template customization can be. If you want multiple side-by-side boxes but didn't choose a template that already supports that, you're out of luck. I also wish editing lists and moving people around was a little more easy.

email marketing made approachable

Pros

Email marketing has always been one of the toughest parts of the job for me. I've worked on campaigns for most of my career and there's a lot to juggle, learning the rules, figuring out automation sequences, interpreting reports and building emails that actually look polished and perform well. This platform does an excellent job of making all of that feel manageable even for people who aren't marketing specialists. Picking one standout feature is tough because there's a lot to appreciate, whether it's the email builder, the automation tools, or the many ways I can segment subscribers with very little effort.

Cons

A few things have been frustrating though. I've run into problems with custom email templates not behaving the way they should and there are parts of the subscriber opt-in and unsubscribe process where I'd really like more control.

strong cross-platform automation wins

Pros

It works reliably across multiple platforms, including Shopify and Magento. Setting up the automations is easy and they're already delivering a clear return on investment.

Cons

There's not a lot to complain about. The only thing that stands out is that the advertising section seems to overlap a bit with other offerings but that's really it.

drag-and-drop emails done right

Pros

Need a user-friendly email platform with drag-and-drop tools and no prior experience? This one fits that really well. The ready-made templates are simple to work with and creating custom emails with the drag-and-drop builder helps everything come out looking polished and professional.

Cons

That simplicity can also become a limitation once you get more comfortable with email design. If you want to go further and customize things with code, getting it to behave exactly the way you want can be a bit tricky. It also doesn't handle importing pre-purchased templates from other developers very well.

versatile email campaigns

Pros

Among the email marketing tools I've used, this is one of the simplest to work with. Setting up campaigns is easy and the follow-up email features can really help a business grow. It also gives you plenty of options so you can customize things based on exactly what you need to get done.

Cons

User interface could be improved a bit, maybe even with a different color scheme.

budget-friendly email templates

Pros

If you need a simple, user-friendly email marketing platform, this works really well. It's especially affordable when you're only sending a lower volume of emails. The built-in curated templates are also useful for getting a design started without much effort.

Cons

Since it's a pretty basic system, there are limits when it comes to email design. It uses drag and drop but you can only move content within the pre-templated tile sections the platform provides. The analytics are fairly minimal too, mainly covering open rate, CTR and unsubscribes.

Great free integrations

Pros

Getting started with this platform has been a big win thanks to the genuinely useful free plan for startups. It also integrates smoothly with tools like Intercom, Typeform, Leadpages and many others which is the main reason I continue using it. Overall, it fits neatly into an existing workflow for secure and simple lead collection.

Cons

One area that could definitely be better is the email campaign builder. It's pretty underwhelming so I use a different service for that part. They really should offer stronger template options for users who want to build email campaigns inside the platform.

flexible template editor

Pros

For designers who already know how to code, the drag-and-drop WYSIWYG editor is a major time-saver. It still allows full control over layout and design but speeds up the process of turning ideas into finished email templates.

Cons

After one of my clients moved over to another email list service/CRM, I noticed the analytics there were a lot more detailed. The analytics here aren't bad at all but I do wish they offered a bit more depth and a few extra insights.

Pros

Early experience with email marketing can feel overwhelming but this platform makes the learning curve much easier. Importing contacts, managing image libraries and sending test emails is simple and practical especially when multiple people are involved in reviewing campaigns.

quick campaign setup wins

Pros

Setting up the account, lists, forms and campaigns is quick and easy. The learning curve stays light so it's realistic to launch a first campaign within just a few hours of getting started.

Cons

One thing that wasn't ideal was the earlier decision to stop making two-step signup the default for newsletters. Having to manually switch it back on for new email lists added extra steps that didn't really need to be there.
