affordable features for small business

Pros

This software has been a strong fit for my small business because it offers a wide range of features at a reasonable cost, along with useful integrations and a free plan that makes it easier for me to get started without pressure.

Cons

The pricing plans can be a bit confusing at times and I've also run into a few issues with the reports.

Powerful integrations and analytics

Pros

List management stays easy and the integrations with platforms like Salesforce and Eventbrite work smoothly while the analytics and editor feel simple for my team when I handle campaigns.

Cons

There's very little to complain about. Out of all the similar email platforms I've used, including Constant Contact and Mad Mimi, this one has been my favorite.

more control over my audience

Pros

The platform helps make my emails feel more personalized and less generic and it also gives me direct control over my customer list instead of depending on shifting external algorithms which I personally prefer.

Cons

At times, emails end up in junk, spam, or trash because there isn't a double opt-in system. That makes it hard to know with complete confidence whether my audience actually received the message.

dependable free email service

Pros

Fact that it is free makes it especially appealing and I find it reliable enough to use for consistent communication without worrying about early costs.

Cons

Email campaign and template designer has changed somewhat. Creating new emails and campaigns isn't as simple as it used to be although it's still a very good service.

consistent newsletters for years

Pros

Contact import and address book setup are simple and the system includes plenty of newsletter templates that I use when building campaigns for my clients over the past several years.

Cons

Pricing can start to feel a bit expensive once you go beyond the free monthly subscriber limit.

newsletter creation made fast

Pros

Newsletters are prepared very efficiently because of ready-made templates and a drag-and-drop flow and I can quickly assemble and send messages while tracking opens and clicks for better insight.

Cons

At one point my account was flagged and I was never given a clear or logical explanation why. It ended up taking nearly two months to get everything sorted out. Since then though, I haven't run into the same problem again.

student newsletters that perform

Pros

My work with students also involves advising a club and the tool has helped me share updates and newsletters more easily with them which I really appreciate in my daily workflow.

Cons

Feature I like least is the learning curve at the beginning when you're trying to build emails for subscribers. I honestly had no clue where to start and the software does a poor job of giving new users guidance on how to begin. I basically had to teach myself through trial and error and only after some time was I able to create a layout I could reuse for all of my newsletters.

Great salesforce reporting and setup

Pros

Salesforce integration works smoothly and reporting on both sides is strong while deduplication and bounce handling help keep my lists clean and I can monitor results more effectively.

Cons

This tool feels more geared toward the average user than a high-end marketing team. Its simple, user-friendly approach can sometimes be too basic and limit the level of customization that's needed. One issue I've run into and it's not the only platform that does this, is that reporting happens mostly at the list level rather than the group level. To keep costs lower, the usual recommendation is to build a master list with groups inside it. You can send campaigns to those groups for better targeting but if reporting only exists at the list level instead of the group level, you lose visibility into where you're actually connecting with or missing your audience. On top of that, contact deduplication only works within individual lists, not across multiple lists.

reliable delivery and excellent inboxing

Pros

Template variety is strong and email deliverability has improved significantly since using the platform which helps ensure messages actually reach inboxes instead of getting lost.

Cons

Editor has quite a few bugs so having some basic HTML knowledge is almost necessary if you want your emails to look right. Copying and pasting would often trigger weird formatting problems. On top of that, list management after sending multiple campaigns was pretty complicated, at least in our case. We ended up relying on a whole process built around massive Excel spreadsheets just to keep our master list accurate and current.

affordable email campaigns that perform

Pros

It is a great starting point for small and mid-sized businesses and I was able to build and send professional campaigns quickly without needing extra design help which saved me time and cost.

Cons

One area that could be improved is the way the documentation and support resources are organized on their website. For someone new to the platform, it is often quicker to search Google for answers than to rely on the materials they provide.

email automation that just works

Pros

Time savings are significant with this platform and email automation has helped me stay consistent even on busy days when I cannot manage everything manually myself.

Cons

there wasn't really anything I disliked about this software. Even the free version works really well and already offers a lot of value.

friendly templates and insightful analytics

Pros

Interface feels very easy, with guided campaign setup and templates that make the process easier and I can track performance through detailed analytics for my organization.

Cons

One area that could be better is the pricing, or at least how competitive it is. The cost is based on the number of subscribers on your list which can be frustrating. We do not contact every subscriber each month but because they are still included in the full list, our monthly fee ends up being higher. If you email your subscriber base regularly, the pricing can make sense and feel worth it. But if your outreach only happens quarterly, it can start to feel expensive.

follow-up tracking is fantastic

Pros

A major time saver is the ability to duplicate previously sent emails and I often reuse and tweak them for follow-ups so I can reach people more efficiently when I manage campaigns.

Cons

One ongoing problem is that a lot of email servers send our messages straight to the recipient's junk or trash folder. We usually have to remind people to check there if they think they didn't get our email which is definitely frustrating. On top of that some image and graphic elements especially GIFs, don't display properly in Outlook.

handy templates for group emails

Pros

Email blasts to specific groups are convenient and I like how easily I can segment audiences and send targeted messages that help me communicate more effectively with different customer groups.

Cons

Looking up a specific contact gets a bit frustrating when that person is already part of a group. If they're listed as an individual contact, it's fine but once they're saved inside a group folder, finding that one person becomes much harder.

Generous free plan and growth potential

Pros

One of the best parts is that it's free for up to 2,000 users and 12k emails per month. That gives plenty of time to build an email list and monetize it enough to cover the Pro plan later while still keeping some profit.

Cons

Navigation and overall interface aren't very user-friendly. It can be difficult to remember where certain features or settings are located.

useful email tracking tools

Pros

Getting instant feedback on how many emails were opened is really useful and being able to see who opted out helps a lot too. Adding website links is simple and once you stay on top of using it regularly, the whole process starts to feel much more manageable.

Cons

Template setup especially when it comes to colors and logos, takes a while and doesn't feel very simple.

Great templates and analytics

Pros

there's a lot to love here. The platform feels simple, it's simple to work with and the pricing is hard to beat. Even without any coding background, you can start building templates right away and send emails to exactly the users you need. On top of that, the analytics suite is excellent and gives you the kind of insights that actually help improve your email flow.

Cons

I really don't have any complaints. I'm a big fan of the software and fully expect to keep using it going forward.
