“Meets all the expectations
Pros
Not only is it easy to use but it also has great customer support and is also packed with useful and solid features. What else could I ask for?
Cons
I felt restricted with the reporting features as it was hard to compare more than two competitors and I had to create charts outside the platform. And now we no longer use this platform.

“Useful for media monitoring
Pros
It lets me quickly compile lists of relevant media articles and social media mentions using a versatile set of keywords.
Cons
Sometimes it generates a lot of irrelevant results if the keywords are not well-defined or if the tool has not been customized to fit our needs which is a major con.

The social listening and media analysis tool was really helpful before we switched to another product.
Cons
I was not thrilled with the user experience of it as it didn't feel intuitive.

“Great for tracking online chatter
Pros
Having used Meltwater for the past two years, my favorite feature is the X (Twitter) analytics dashboard which provides insights on mentions, demographic data like age, gender, RTs, QTs and much more. Also the buzz alerts are great, notifying us by email and in the tool when there is a surge in mentions.
Cons
What frustrates me most are the data download limits which only allow downloading 20K data at a time. And the tool's laggy interface, especially when the internet speed is slow is quite annoying too.

“Definitely a go-to for PR info
Pros
Meltwater is one of the top media databases for PR professionals. So if you belong to this industry I would say you should try it once.
Cons
No media database is perfect either in keeping up with media members or in terms of media monitoring similar is the case with it. Also it can get expensive depending on the number of seats or tools required.

“Decent for monitoring socials
Pros
The deep analytics it provides including data segmentation by city, state, country and campaign verticals is excellent for our campaign monitoring and more.
Cons
To make keyword usage easier, some social listening rules like capitalizing Boolean operators have been relaxed. However I feel like in the long run this might negatively impact professionals in this field.

“Tool didn't work and support was worse
Pros
Meltwater platform consistently delivered daily monitoring alerts as promised. While they were not important for our organization, the emails did arrive every day as scheduled.
Cons
As a product Meltwater felt overpriced and was a worse alternative to Google Alerts. It did not deliver quality monitoring results for our organization. The reputation monitoring tool returned irrelevant results mostly from click-bait, AI-generated SEO sites. Also there were countless times our team would look at the alert emails and laugh at the poor quality and obscure sources. We set up basic Google Alerts along with Hootsuite and other free or inexpensive social media monitoring tools and the info from those was far better in quality and delivery. To be fair it was set up by legacy employees who did not fully understand the platform's purpose or potential. Plus it seemed there was little to no implementation or support from the Meltwater team to ensure the monitoring results met our needs.

“Keeps me up-to-date with what matters
Pros
It made us work more efficiently. Also it made it easier to find social media data thanks to the tool's organization. The search function is flexible giving us plenty of options to precisely track what we are looking for. We can prepare topics we want to track and receive instant alerts when they are published on social media. Plus it presents the gathered information in a simple, easy to understand way for everyone.
Cons
The simplicity of Meltwater's charts is frustrating but I trust that they will work to improve them in future updates.

“customer service is superb
Pros
What I love most about Meltwater is how much easier it is to use compared to our previous product (Cision). Plus our account rep is the best. As switching reps at Cision was a nightmare and pulling metrics took hours. But it has amazed us with how seamless and efficient it is.
Cons
Media database is not as comprehensive as Cision's. So it is clear where Meltwater's focus lies. As a medical non-profit we work with niche publications and many were missing from Meltwater or had outdated staff info. The result of it is that we had to manually upload them which means keeping track of when reporters switch companies was our responsibility.
