Useful tracking but ux is not the best

Pros

The built-in features fit our workflow really well and we also managed to add the pieces that were missing. Time and budget tracking in particular are very valuable for us.

Cons

UX can still be confusing for some of our clients, even though it has improved a lot recently. Performance also feels a little slow at times although that may partly be on us since we host it ourselves and getting to data can be cumbersome because we handle so many projects and customers.

great for planning and teamwork

Pros

ActiveCollab really stood out to me because of its user-friendly interface and project management tools. It gave us one central place to organize tasks, work with team members and keep track of project progress without things feeling scattered. Creating and assigning tasks, setting deadlines and following the full project timeline helped everyone stay aligned and aware of what needed to be done. On top of that the interactive Gantt chart and the visual view of tasks and milestones made planning projects and allocating resources much more effective.

Cons

One area where it felt a bit limited was in its customization options for design and layout. The interface was clean and simple which worked well but there were not many ways to personalize the appearance to fit specific preferences or company branding. Its reporting and analytics features also may seem less advanced for users who need deeper insights compared with some other project management platforms. That said these limitations did not take away much from the overall usefulness and usability of the software.

loved the simple and clear design

Pros

The project view really stands out for my workflow especially the grouping and filtering options combined with both grid and table layouts. That feature alone is a huge win for how I manage work. And the overall system is also simple to understand while still feeling complete which mattered a lot since my coworkers come from very different backgrounds. On top of that the Activity View does a really good job of giving a full picture of what's happening without taking up much time. The mobile app also does exactly what I need it to do, with no bugs or strange behavior so far.

Cons

Well the optional GetPaid add on for invoicing and payment management wasn't the right fit for us. It's actually a great addition for simpler needs especially for a business just getting started but it still needs more development to handle what we require. In the end we decided to move to a more specialized finance tool to keep better track of that side of the business.

Task tracking made simple

Pros

Task management is easily my favorite part of ActiveCollab. It lets me keep track of users and comment on how their tasks are progressing. I can also set time estimates for each task which helps a lot with planning around overall project goals. It is also useful that I can attach files like images and documents directly from my desktop. On top of that the invoicing feature is a real plus as creating and tracking invoices feels pretty simple.

Cons

A downside with it is that it doesn't offer many integrations with other apps. There's also a bit of a learning curve that new users have to get past at the beginning. Once that hurdle is out of the way though, it becomes much easier to work with. Another thing I'm not a fan of is the dashboard which doesn't feel very user-friendly.

Custom workflows help, integrations lag

Pros

Getting around ActiveCollab was one of the best parts for me. The interface is user-friendly so my team could quickly find the features and tools we needed to manage projects without much effort. I also appreciated how customizable the software is as we were able to adapt it to our own needs and workflows. Creating custom workflows and labels made it much easier to stay organized and keep track of everything across projects. On top of that the real-time collaboration features and task comments helped communication flow better and kept everyone aligned. All in all, it has been an efficient and productive tool for managing both projects and teams.

Cons

Where it fell a bit short was in the flexibility of the interface customization. Even though the overall design is user-friendly making smaller adjustments to better match my team's preferences was harder than I expected. The reporting tools also feel like they could be stronger especially with more detailed insights and better customization options. Another limitation was the fairly restricted integration support with other tools and platforms. Overall it's still a solid project management solution but there's clearly some room to improve when it comes to customization and integrations.
