Pros

Ftrack has been very helpful in managing important projects during these challenging pandemic times. It allows remote work which ensures business continuity. I like the all-in-one features that allow me to upload previews, review them, manage files and versions, track bid time, and access many other tools.

Cons

This software is nearly flawless. However, when uploading videos via f-connect, the progress isn't shown. I'm not sure why the collaboration option was removed from the video review panel. It was far better than screen sharing on Skype or Teams.

It simplifies the process of finding and following my tasks, which is especially valuable since we are working remotely.

It took a little while to adapt to it initially, and sometimes I still struggle to find things if it's not a task I perform daily.

The taskboard view is quite beneficial as it allows me to keep track of all my shots. Navigating through it is also not an issue, and the filters are helpful.

It's difficult to remove files that were mistakenly uploaded or edit file names within the software. However, this might be more of an admin/user privilege issue.

Occasionally, the product feels overly complex, and even I am using it for a while I haven't fully grasped it yet.

The visibility of resources and the task overview are great. I particularly like the high level of customization, which allows adjustments to suit different needs. The interface is well-designed.

Navigation can be challenging at times as it requires too many clicks. I wish there were more customizable fields and areas, or at least a simpler way for anyone to customize them, rather than relying solely on an IPA developer. The review system, especially the one for clients, should be more user-friendly (take a look at Proof HQ). It would be great if Asset Builds could be managed in a centralized system outside of individual projects and then linked to specific projects. I also desire client-facing project plans with clear actions for clients.

I find the so many features priceless such as system of organizing tasks as cards, the learning curve, the filters and the customizable aspects of each part of fTrack. Within just five hours, I was already working fine with it.

Cons

The quality of the player is not good at all. For VFX supervision, I need to download the original file. In other software like Frame IO, you can choose the video quality.

Once you become familiar with it, it becomes very easy to use.

Overall, I feel that it is a complete tool, although sometimes I don't receive notifications.

The filtering and version control features are brilliant. The overviews and dashboards are excellent. The ability to take actions and customize the product accordingly is highly advantageous.

The DCC integrations are poor. Navigating projects within the integrations is terrible, as there is no filtering or search functionality available. There's a lack of asset management and an asset loader provided. The Houdini integration doesn't have an installer at all, and the documentation is outdated. The files and components management system could be improved. Multiple reviewable components and preview images are needed. There's a lack of PDF support, limited interface customization options, and the notes and internal communication functionality is lacking (e.g., user mentioning, rich text support, attachments copy-paste, limited formatting options, etc.). The Pook Connect Application functions are not up to par.
