Pros

Accessing and coordinating tasks involving multiple individuals is simple and smooth.

Cons

Setting it up properly requires a lot of API coding. Moreover updates often disrupt functionality. Instead of "congratulations" it's more like "Let's see what they broke this time?" It would be helpful to have an option for clients to choose when to roll out updates instead of forcing them upon us, but as far as I know, that's not in the pipeline.

Pros

Task creation, linking and organization are quite speedy and robust. The time tracker is also smart and user-friendly.

Cons

My frustration begins from the multiple overlapping popup windows for tasks and time tracking. They always cover up important information that I need to see or click on in the main screen. I have to come up with workarounds to properly track my tasks. Having more customization options or smarter placement of popups would be greatly appreciated.

There are too many tabs, making it challenging to find the right information at times.

Uploading media and navigating different categories for shots is clear and straightforward which ensures a smooth workflow.

When uploading media, I need to add a note to each shot. However, there's only a single line available, and if the note is long, I can't see the beginning without scrolling back. There's no option to create paragraphs or sub-paragraphs, which would allow for clearer articulation of the details regarding a challenging shot.

The time tracking process is very tedious. It needs to be streamlined and made more intuitive.

Ftrack has greatly simplified our project management, making it easily accessible to all artists and team members, even while working remotely. To access all the important information at one place is the key for us and it has greatly assisted us in this matter. Also it helps in managing workloads, communicating tasks, issues and deadlines.

The webplayer could use improvement as it currently feels a bit clunky. When viewing my work through the webplayer, I have to manually change every single shot to the most recent task. The shots displayed should be the most recent versions, not the initial uploads. Additionally, notes made within the webplayer don't seem to match to the correct task level; they end up at the topmost level. This means I have to double-check and navigate to other task levels to view any notes made there. This becomes problematic as notes can easily be missed if you're unaware of a new note on a new version or if you expect the note to be on a different task level.

Pros

I am impressed by how speedy and simple Ftrack is. It significantly quickens the tracking process without hindering production.

Some features are hidden, like the process of deleting an uploaded file.

At first glance, there is an overwhelming amount of information presented in one place which distracts you. For workers who only need to perform specific tasks, such as uploading daily files, it becomes confusing since they are exposed to unnecessary information.

Adding tasks is not as intuitive compared to other project management software I have used. There are multiple ways to access projects, which can be confusing for occasional users.

The user-friendliness, the ability to schedule, track and review all projects is vital for an animation studio. Being able to then provide clients with a review for feedback, visible to the whole team, helps reduce bottlenecks and streamline timelines.

It's challenging to find TDs who can assist with implementing additional workflow features. I wish the review system was more similar to syncsketch for more technical animation feedback. This would be beneficial for internal reviews, as clients don't require that feedback tool. Other than that, it has been fantastic.

Ftrack simplifies the process of sharing videos with clients for feedback and easy video downloads option, all without requiring them to log in.

Ftrack is a powerful and highly customizable project management tool. One standout feature is the option to view and manage all projects in a single view or select specific project(s) to focus on. Their reviewing tool, both for images and motion, is efficient and carefully designed.

Due to its extensive customization option, there is a learning curve to navigate the software. Additionally, the notification center could be improved. While it fulfills its purpose, it's not as seamless as other internal communication tools I am accustomed to using. Having a desktop app would be a fantastic addition.

I primarily use Ftrack to track our asset pipeline. As long as we stay on top of it, Ftrack provides reliable information about the status of any given task. The robust filtering and dashboard options are also likeable. Additionally, the default email notifications I receive contain the relevant information I care about.

There's a slight learning curve when starting out with Ftrack, which can be daunting for new users. Additionally, I wish the user interface was more responsive in my browser.

Pros

The Project Management functionality is excellent, and the Client Reviews function has done a tremendous job in making our jobs easier.

Initially, the UI wasn't very intuitive, and it took me some time to get the hang of it. The documentation could provide more detailed explanations, as sometimes it's too simplistic or doesn't cover everything. Another department in our company preferred the old on-prem installation, but that might be due to company policies and our own limitations.

I find it highly intuitive, with a visually pleasing interface that presents information in a simple manner. It seamlessly integrates with the software I use and makes it effortless to track my shots.

Perhaps regarding the thumbnails, I wish that when the shots render through ftrack, it would automatically upload a thumbnail. However, this may not be feasible given how we use the software.

I like that it covers various aspects, from uploading animation scenes to the review process.

I would like to have an option to adjust the column width on the task board. So I can make it narrower or wider.
