“Impressive”

Pros

Github is free to use which is a big plus. It also lets many users collaborate at the same time in the same repository making teamwork much more practical. Another benefit is that many programs created by other people are public which helps with sharing them and allows others to use and build on them.

Cons

Takes some time to get used to all its functionalities.

Pros

It's one of the strongest software product management tools out there. The code repository system is excellent, core development stays well protected and forking makes work distribution very efficient. Merging contributions is simple and the version control is efficient with a detailed history that's incredibly useful.

Cons

On the command-line side, setting up local repositories from the central repo can be challenging. The access control system also has some issues and key generation and management can get complicated.

“Well integrated”

Pros

The way it works feels very user-friendly and everything is really well integrated.

Cons

At this point, I haven't come across anything I dislike.

Pros

Git is an excellent way to keep a software project organized and it offers the best web-based interface for working with Git.

Cons

Because it plays such a major role in open source development, any occasional site issues can slow down my workflow. Luckily, that doesn't happen often.

It comes with a lot of useful features specially support for different branches and simple code deployment. The interface is user-friendly and makes managing the project codebase feel simple.

The cost for private repositories is on the higher side.

Getting started with it is pretty simple. The project repositories can be handled using flexible tools and having both public and private access options is really useful. It also makes tracking changes in the repositories quite convenient.

“Amazing website building”

Pros

What I really enjoy is how much flexibility it gives you. If needed, there's AI integration and you can build your own websites, attach your own domain and keep different versions of the same project. It also works well with Github, Git, VS Code, IntelliJ IDEA and other tools which makes the whole development workflow feel very connected.

Cons

Only real downside in my view is that private websites cant be published on it unless you pay for Github Pro. That said, if you're fine with making your project public, this limitation probably won't matter much.

Pros

using it is pretty simple, the uptime has also been strong, the integrations are useful and the connection with a Microsoft account is a nice added benefit.

Cons

A weak spot is support. Considering it's backed by Microsoft, the help feels fairly average, likely because much of it seems to be outsourced.

Pros

Being free for personal use is a big plus and it comes with a full set of features. That said, even though it's promoted as something people with different skill levels can use, you really need a decent understanding of Linux to get the most out of it. Small errors can easily throw you off track if you don't already know how to fix them.

Cons

The user-friendliness is pretty much on par with Linux itself. If you already know your way around that kind of environment, it works really well. The downside is that, just like Linux, you often end up digging through countless forum posts for help and a lot of that advice isn't actually reliable.

Pros

Handling nearly every part of software development is very simple with this tool. It consistently works the way it should and we've never run into bugs or unexpected issues that caused problems. It also makes collaborating with engineers on projects really simple and efficient.

Cons

There can be a bit of a learning curve for first-time users although that's barely a downside since it becomes much easier to use once you get familiar with it.

Pros

Getting started with it is simple, the authentication and account security feel dependable, customer support has been consistently strong and keeping tabs on projects is much simpler than trying to manage everything by yourself.

Cons

Pricing is a little steep but that tends to be the case with most software designed to support open source work.

Also, the wide range of integrations with other development tools adds flexibility, boosts productivity and allows more customization. Overall, it feels like an essential tool for developers and teams working on projects of any size.

Cons

Biggest downside is the pricing which feels too high. It would be much better if there were a free option for college students, at least for four years.

Sharing files with the entire team takes very little effort and that alone makes this program worth using.

I honestly have no complaints about it... it has worked really well for us.

This tool makes it possible to work on personal or professional projects with your team in a fast and efficient way. This tool lets you go back to earlier versions whenever development direction changes or you need to debug something. Access control is also very reliable since administrators can decide who is allowed to view or edit the code, helped by push request approvals as well. If you're working independently, you can keep the project open source and allow other users to contribute changes or suggest improvements. Honestly it's an essential product.

Cons

The software is great for version control but new users should expect a learning curve when moving from GUI to command-line for advanced features.

“We liked using it”

Pros

Keeping track of multiple versions in development is where it really shines. There is a learning curve at the beginning since users need to become familiar with the commands but once that clicks, it becomes simple to use and simple to deploy. It makes version management much easier specially compared with the huge amount of work teams used to deal with before Git tools, when tracking who changed what during complex collaborative development was far more difficult.

Cons

New developers who are not familiar with Git features need some time to learn the command workflow and procedures.

Building your own website at no cost is really simple and having the hosting handled by the platform is a big plus. The recent AI integration has also made the whole process much more manageable and convenient.

Getting around the platform can sometimes feel a bit confusing specially for people using it for the first time and still figuring things out.

Having a place to host my code and work with developers from anywhere has been incredibly valuable. It also gives me a way to display my projects publicly which helps when I want recruiters to notice my work. It really feels like a social platform built for developers. Also, I can explore open-source projects to learn from them and even contribute when I want to be involved.

Cons

Setting up a repository and collaborating does take some time to learn. The platform can also feel hard to navigate at first because there are so many features packed into it. Also, connecting external tools for automation usually requires quite a bit of effort.

“Github rescued my startup”

Pros

It basically rescued my business model. Early on in my e-commerce journey, I had very little software development experience and nowhere near the budget to hire a professional developer for support. It filled that gap for me. The pricing is fair and the community is incredibly helpful when it comes to improving software and most importantly, tracking down and fixing bugs. The monthly plans cost only a little more than a Happy Meal yet they include everything I needed and then some.

Cons

Honestly I have no complaints about this software. It helped save my business when I was having a hard time.
