Pros

Among tools built for open source projects, this one stands out as the best to use. The most appealing part is its repository which makes it simple to browse through different projects and Also it supports collaboration really well.

Cons

This is not something just anyone can jump into casually. It takes strong knowledge of how the platform works, along with programming skills, to use it effectively.

Pros

Using this code versioning tool feels very simple and every branch operation is presented with clear visual feedback. It handles Git really well especially when setting things up with an RSA key.

Cons

There really isn't any major issue with it since it does exactly what it's meant to do. If I had to mention anything, it would be that I had a bit of trouble understanding the concept of versioning when I first started using it.

Pros

Coming in as a novice developer, it feels very user friendly. When someone with more experience walks me through it, it's also pretty quick to learn and pick up.

honestly there's not really anything I dislike about it.

This is a useful platform for connecting with people around the world who share the same interests and it works well for code hosting too. It also lets the whole team contribute changes to the required project which makes collaboration much more practical.

A stable internet connection is necessary to use it properly and beginners may find it a bit hard to understand at first.

Pros

Keeping track of source code and project issues through it feels really simple. Everything is well organized especially when it comes to monitoring requests and bugs through the issues system and that's exactly what I appreciate most about it.

There really isn't anything I dislike about this software.

Using it feels simple and it gives a lot of flexibility when it comes to branching, merging and handling code reviews. Those features make collaboration much more efficient.

The Github team is still improving it and one thing that would make it even better is having full end-to-end CI/CD built in.

Pros

One of the best parts of this software is how well it helps developers collaborate on code. It offers a strong platform for open-source projects, makes tracking code changes simple, helps avoid coding conflicts and supports quick code sharing between team members.

Cons

From my perspective, there are only two downsides to it, it does require some technical knowledge to use well and it can feel overwhelming for beginners. Also, not every project is available on it.

“Liked using it overall”

Pros

Coordinated peer reviews make it much easier for designers to collaborate effectively and they also ensure the conversation is preserved for audit and reference purposes. The introduction of Github Actions has helped our teams reduce reliance on external CI/CD services which has improved engineering efficiency by cutting down the number of systems we need to manage. It also connects well with other third-party tools like Jira, Azure DevOps and more.

Cons

On the compliance and security side, Github Team editions should really offer SSO support or at least the ability to restrict invitations to approved business domains. Deleting a folder in it is also more difficult than it should be and it ought to be as simple as deleting a file. The Github IDE could also use more features though aside from that, it has been excellent overall.

This has become my go-to tool for project management and the integration between apps works smoothly as well.

At the moment, I honestly can't think of any drawbacks.

Copilot has been a really enjoyable part of using this tool and the overall experience has been very positive. The new pipeline recommendations are especially helpful, like the suggestion to protect the main branch which makes things very simple.

There really isn't much to complain about since it is a very well-built product.

Getting started with it is simple so even someone new can pick it up in no time. Most of the features are free which makes it a really practical choice for small businesses and schools. It also feels secure and consistently dependable.

I do wish it offered a broader feature set. The AI tools, such as Code Pilot, are still in beta and don't feel fully complete yet.

Pros

Whether the team is small or large, it works really well anywhere collaboration is a big part of the workflow. When it's used properly, it also doubles as a useful record of what has been done in a repo which makes it valuable for documentation too. It's especially strong for open-source work and the integrations with tools like issue trackers, Slack, Notion and others make it even more useful.

Feels so simple to get around the product and the user interface is well designed and pleasant to work with.

At times, I run into performance issues that I'm not able to figure out or fix on my own.

Pros

Having everything gathered in one place is a big plus, from creating public repositories to publishing Github Pages. It feels more complete as a platform and being able to use it for free while sharing what you've built makes it especially valuable for beginners or computer science students.

Cons

One downside is that deployment choices are fairly limited on the platform since backend-based applications can't be deployed directly here.

This software is really useful and important for getting things done and making the work more manageable. The platform feels very simple to use especially when I need to handle quick PR reviews.

The downside is that it's difficult to use on a phone so I've been using the software on a desktop instead.
