Made our work simpler

Pros

Works really well for source control and is widely adopted. Since most developers already know how to use it, collaborating with others is usually very simple.

Cons

There is a bit of a learning curve at first although that's more about understanding source control in general than a problem with the product itself.

We had a good experience

Pros

Every pull request gets its own automatic preview environment which makes reviewing changes much more practical. Having a separate database for each branch also adds a lot of confidence during testing since nothing overlaps and it stays safe to experiment. Another big plus is the instant deployment feedback especially with health checks because issues show up right away instead of later in the process.

Cons

Managing multiple configuration files adds a fairly high maintenance burden over time.

A wonderful tool for collaboration!

Pros

It works really well for collaborating with others and contributing to their projects. Github also comes with a free account that still includes plenty of useful functionality. Honestly I'd consider it an essential platform for anyone who spends time in coding.

Cons

At first, I had a pretty hard time understanding how to push and pull repositories but that mostly came down to the learning curve. After using it more and getting familiar with how it works, it became much more manageable.

collaboration that keeps coding moving

Pros

A standout feature for me is collaboration. When a developer opens a pull request, other team members who have access to the repository can review the suggested changes which makes working together much better.

Cons

The only downside I've noticed is that it doesn't handle large file hosting well. Aside from that, I really don't have anything else to complain about.

powerful collaboration for code teams

Pros

Working with code as a team feels really efficient thanks to branches, pull requests and the strong integration with CI/CD tools.

Cons

Some of the more advanced permissions and organization-level controls can feel a bit confusing at first specially for smaller teams.

A flexible platform!

Pros

Getting started with it is pretty simple, it connects to a lot of other applications without much hassle and extending it is simple. The platform is very flexible overall and the huge plugin ecosystem adds a lot of extra power and functionality.

Cons

The enterprise version can feel a little pricey.

excellent for code hosting

Pros

Works really well for code hosting and team collaboration and the interface for pull requests and reviews is strong. The integration with CI tools and Actions is also very useful for automating tasks.

Cons

At times, the web interface feels a bit slow when the repository is large and the notification system can get noisy if it isn't tuned properly.

Works well for us

Pros

Sharing my code and other work with teammates and people outside my team is really simple. It also helps me document things better which is something I don't always stay on top of.

Cons

If you want a more private repository, you have to pay for it. I get the reason behind that but it still feels like there should be more options for protecting sensitive information.

helpful pull request labeling

Pros

It works really well for managing pull requests and the option to add labels across our team makes it much easier to separate urgent items that need attention and are important for the next release.

Cons

A downside with it is bringing non-development team members into the workflow. While you can set up approvals as part of the process, the terminology and interface are still heavily geared toward developers, because its designed for them, this can make things confusing for colleagues outside the dev team.

Nice and clean interface

Pros

Version control with Git works really well here, the interface stays clean and collaboration tools like pull requests and issues make team projects much easier to manage. The Actions feature is also a major advantage when it comes to automating workflows.

Cons

Getting comfortable with it can take some time at the beginning especially when branching is involved. Also, a few advanced capabilities, like more detailed permission controls, are only available on paid plans.

Excellent code management for agile teams

Pros

Across a team with different developers, this has been the best option for managing code. Access control is handled really well and the issue tracking works perfectly for agile projects.

Cons

Since Microsoft acquired it, it feels more and more like a channel for promoting Microsoft products. Also, having to use Microsoft Authenticator because of the mandatory two-factor authentication requirement is really frustrating.

Helped us get more productive

Pros

Bringing this into our workflow has been really helpful for improving work performance, cutting down manual effort and boosting production. It feels like a very valuable platform because it offers a wide range of useful features that make setup much faster. I'd say it's an excellent option specially because it supports strong collaboration when it comes to identifying the right software for the job.

Cons

It also doesn't provide guides or any kind of training support which it a bit hard to get used to the working

Loved using it

Pros

Github Actions for CI/CD has been a game changer for us and automates a huge part of our workload.

Cons

Pricing is the biggest downside. It feels too expensive for small teams and really should be more affordable.

fantastic hub for dev collaboration

Pros

It continues to be my go-to platform for open-source work and team code collaboration. The integrations with major DevOps tools and IDEs are a huge plus and they fit really well into existing workflows. I haven't spent much time using Copilot since I mostly use Cursor but I still think it's valuable that it offers a free version to everyone. Github Actions is also incredibly capable specially for running integration tests. Also, the pricing feels very reasonable particularly the $4 per user per month plan.

Cons

Every now and then, there's an outage and when it happens it can affect a huge portion of the tech world. That's not unusual for a SaaS platform though. It also occasionally shows its Microsoft side by nudging users toward Azure DevOps-related features but for the most part it still operates independently and continues to support a healthy, expanding ecosystem.

Smooth team collaboration

Pros

Working with this tool has made collaboration across our development team feel much more connected and organized. Being able to track every change with version control, handle branches properly and create pull requests has helped us keep our codebase clean and well structured. Github's Actions feature has also cut down a lot of manual effort during deployments which saves us time. Also, it's dependable and fits in well with the other tools we already use.

Cons

Getting started can be a little confusing especially for newer team members who are still learning commands and how branching works. Even though the platform itself is excellent, it does seem to expect some prior knowledge of version control and that can make things slower for beginners at first. The notifications can also become a bit too much when you're watching several repositories at the same time.

Our top choice!

Pros

Basically my go-to standard for managing collaborations.. and it's the place I turn to any time I need this kind of software.

Cons

After a while, the pricing starts to feel expensive and the fact that Microsoft owns it adds a bit of uncertainty for me.

feature-rich collaboration platform

Pros

Right away, the wide range of features stood out to me. It's clearly built with users in mind and does a really good job supporting collaboration and sharing across teams.

Cons

Nothing major comes to mind at the moment. If I had to point out one thing, it would be that it could offer a bit more customization especially since software developers and data scientists rely on it every day.

I'd recommend it

Pros

It's very simple to use, it consistently works well and the search has improved a lot. It responds quickly and the fact that the actions are free makes it even better. Honestly what more could you ask for?

Cons

One thing that could still be improved is exploring user repositories since it feels like a few filtering options may still be missing.
