syncing across stations is fantastic

Pros

Working from different stations has been the biggest advantage for me. I move between locations a lot and on each PC that's already set up there, I can sync everything just by entering 3 lines of code which makes switching between places really convenient.

Cons

The only issue I've run into with it is when I forget to use those 3 lines of code to sync my progress. Once that happens, it starts throwing errors that I didn't understand at first and even now when it happens, I'd rather delete everything locally and sync it all again.

Pros

Even though this software feels pretty confusing to navigate, I can still recognize the many benefits it offers and understand the range of capabilities it has.

Cons

There isn't enough specific information explaining how to use the software or how its features and functions actually work.

Brilliant release management

Pros

It has become the go-to platform for developers worldwide especially in open-source projects and that constant community involvement keeps improving it all the time. It handles bug tracking and feature requests really well. Also, the release workflow and changelog management interface are excellent and make life much easier for developers.

Cons

I don't notice any major downsides with it. The only issue I've come across is that it supports only the merge strategy and reverting changes can be difficult.

a nuanced tool

Pros

It covers the essentials really well: source control, continuous integration, continuous development, plus support for hosting multiple projects and collaborating with a team all in one place.

Cons

The interface still needs work though. The design feels more complicated than necessary and isn't very user-friendly so you need a certain level of technical skill before the platform feels comfortable to use.

Fun to use

Pros

Packed with powerful features like source code storage and versioning, pipelines, issue tracking, dependency resolution and signed commits, it covers pretty much everything I need. Also, it feels simple and even fun to use which makes working with it really enjoyable. I absolutely love it.

Cons

Right now, the only part I'm not too happy with is the pricing for the pro version since it feels fairly expensive.

up-to-date code without compromise

Pros

Keeping the main code current while still merging in my own changes has been a huge advantage. I don't have to modify the original code at all and as the primary codebase continues to evolve, my version can be updated along with it. At the same time, my own changes stay private and remain untouched while the latest revisions to the main code are brought in.

Cons

There's definitely a bit of a learning curve when it comes to repositories, forks, branches and other version control concepts. Even so, the time spent learning it is absolutely worth it.

developer-friendly IDE integration

Pros

I really appreciate about how well it connects with different IDEs which makes it much more convenient for developers to use while working. That integration helps a lot when it comes to getting tasks done more efficiently.

Cons

My only issue is that people who are new to it often find a lot of things confusing and that can make them lose interest in using it or trying to get comfortable with it.

Security features are awesome

Pros

From collaborative coding to day-to-day development workflows, this works really well for developers and SDET teams. It supports both public and private repositories which makes it flexible across different project types. The automated CI/CD, issue tracking and PR approval flow help keep work organized and moving. Secrets management is useful, the wiki documentation is detailed for many widely used projects and the periodic code and secret scanning adds another layer of confidence. I also appreciate the vulnerability alerts available for public repositories.

Cons

One area that still needs improvement is conflict handling. It should offer better ways to visualize conflicts and help auto-resolve them. Another downside is that it does not automatically patch code or vulnerable third-party libraries so manual intervention is still required to address those security issues.

great integrations

Pros

The best things about it is how simple it is to use. Setting up a repository, uploading files and folders and cloning repositories only takes a few clicks. The interface is clear and simple so even first-time users can start using it without much trouble. Also, it includes a wide range of features and integrations which makes it a very powerful platform for developers.

Cons

Something I wasn't happy with was how difficult it was to find a simple way to contact customer support. I also felt the interface wasn't quite as user-friendly as some other alternatives.

Friendly interface

Pros

Keeping our repositories safe has been the biggest advantage here. Also, the interface is very user-friendly which makes it appealing and accessible to more and more developers.

Cons

Only downside is that the pricing feels a bit expensive so I'm still using the free trial for now.

Liked using it

Pros

It has been an excellent choice for version control, mainly because of a few core strengths. The branch permission controls are really useful and the repository comes with plenty of configuration options that make setup and management much better. The pull request experience is one of the best out there and the ability to comment on multiple lines is especially helpful when giving detailed feedback. Also, it includes some very strong built-in tools, like pipelines for continuous integration which add even more value.

Cons

The weaker area is definitely project and issue management. Compared with its other capabilities, that part feels underdeveloped. It trails competitors like Azure DevOps and Jira in this space since it does not offer features such as portfolio-level roadmap management or story mapping.

feature-packed and powerful

Pros

This is a very feature-rich product and it covers the functions we need well even though there are better tools out there for certain specific tasks.

Cons

There are almost too many features packed in which makes the learning curve pretty steep. New users can feel overwhelmed quickly so it would help to have a simpler basic interface first, with the option to switch to advanced later.

A strong tool

Pros

Getting single sign-on set up is fairly simple and that adds a strong layer of security. There's also a large community around it which helps a lot and the documentation is detailed and reliable. It's also widely used by students and freelancers so it feels familiar and accessible.

Cons

Its CI/CD capabilities are powerful... but they require a shift in workflow from dedicated CI tools.

version control is fantastic

Pros

When it comes to version control, it really feels unmatched. From rebasing to resolving merge conflicts directly in the browser, it lets you get an incredible amount done without needing a full desktop setup. Even on a mobile device, the range of things you can handle is honestly hard to beat. Also, the mobile support is excellent. I've been able to submit reviews, merge branches and even make the occasional Pull Request fix right from my phone while I'm out and about. And Github Actions is on another level. It's easily my favorite CI option because it's simple to understand and flexible enough to customize almost endlessly.

Cons

Free tier is really disappointing when it comes to supporting large numbers of users inside one organization. That said it feels less like an accident and more like a deliberate limitation especially since the Enterprise package is there and you're pretty strongly pushed toward paying for it.

helpful for IT students

Pros

Plenty of I.T. students like me use this software and that's one of the reasons I appreciate it. It's really useful for our work and studies and it helps a lot when doing tasks related to our course.

Cons

One issue is that some of the buttons can be confusing especially when trying to find things like the source code. Because of that some students or other users may have a hard time figuring out how to use the software at first.

Perfect for all kinds of teams

Pros

Whether it's a small personal project or a large collaboration with lots of contributors, it adapts really well. It handles both simple and complex workflows nicely and having both public and private repositories is incredibly valuable.

Cons

What's lacking is the project management side... especially issues and task tracking. It's not very strong for long-term planning and there are definitely better options available for that, like Linear, Trello, JIRA or Azure DevOps.
