“webhooks are great”
Pros
Getting started with it has been very simple. The webhook setup works well and the third-party integrations have been really useful.
Cons
At the moment, I haven't run into any issues with the software since everything has been working well for me.

“dependable tool!”
Pros
Across Linux, macOS and Windows, it works well on every platform I use for development and it's consistently available aside from a few minor outages. When I type an incorrect command it doesn't just say the command doesn't exist,it actually suggests possible matches which is really helpful. I also appreciate being able to choose the notification level I want. Another useful feature is that it can render Jupyter notebooks so I can view them without having to run them.
Cons
My only real complaint is the limitation placed on free users and the way large files are handled. It would also be much better if it supported the diff view for Jupyter Notebooks since they're so widely used. Seeing a proper rendered diff instead of raw JSON source would make a big difference.

“top choice for source control”
Pros
It has become the standard tool and it's an excellent platform for managing source code. The free usage allotment for Github Actions is also something I really appreciate.
Cons
One thing I'm not pleased with is that Github Copilot is being trained on source code from across the platform.

“works really well”
Pros
So great! It makes version control and team code collaboration really simple. Its branching setup, including the ability to create sub-branches within a branch, provides a detailed history of how a project evolves, capturing every change along the way down to the smallest feature or update.
Cons
An area that could be better is the hierarchy around pulling changes into the Main branch especially as an internal control mechanism for larger development teams. It would benefit from stronger control and admin options to make the structure more efficient and flexible for team-based development.

“huge app library for sharing”
Pros
Genuinely amazed by how many apps are available to download. They've been incredibly useful in all kinds of situations and it's a really strong way to share your files so other people can use them.
Cons
At first, getting started can feel a bit intimidating and overwhelming. Even so, it's actually much simpler to use than it initially looks.

“Excellent software”
Pros
A few things have made this platform especially valuable for me: version control, Dependabot for vulnerability scanning and how well it connects with third-party apps. Being able to roll back to a previous version when the current code breaks is a huge plus and the strong repository privacy is another reason I rate it highly. It also works really well for hassle-free source code hosting and the Container Registry has been quite useful. The open-source community involvement is another big advantage and having access to open-source applications and code that can be modified is very helpful. Also, the interface feels polished, simple and pleasant to use. Integrating it into my existing business processes went well too since I was able to get everything set up with a bit of self-learning some effort and the available online training guides.
Cons
There are still a few areas that could be better. Merge conflicts in it could be handled more effectively and the pull request code review experience has room for improvement. I also noticed missing options around deleting, updating and creating issues for teams and users. Similar to many other IDEs, the code editing environment feels limited when it comes to extra functionality. A few parts are also not very user-friendly, such as folder deletion, permanently removing unwanted files and the lack of richer CI/CD capabilities. Another drawback is that you cannot install, download or set up your own Github server. The repository contribution count can also be misleading at times. That said integration with my existing business processes was not especially difficult since I could still get it running with some self-help, effort and online training guides.

“simple and easy to use”
Pros
Right from version control, code management and team collaboration, it covers the essentials any company needs to build software effectively. It keeps getting better with additions like vulnerability scanning and IDE integrations such as VS Code which make the platform even more dependable and convenient for developers. At this point, most coders would recommend it over other options because of how much it supports both individual developers and companies in building code, along with ongoing feature tracking and bug management.
Cons
Handling merge conflicts is better now than it was when the feature first came out but there's still plenty of room to make the process more developer-friendly. Code search is another area that needs work since it still doesn't do a good job of helping you find a specific piece of logic inside a large repository unless you pull the code and search through it in your IDE.

“Great experience”
Pros
Working with the whole team feels much more organized because everyone can collaborate in one place while keeping track of each team member's progress. The CI/CD pipeline is really useful since it blocks failed code from being merged into the main branch. It also makes it easier to split up the code across the team and work efficiently together.
Cons
There is definitely a learning curve when it comes to using the commands so it takes some practice before it feels natural. Better documentation along with access to video tutorials would really help inexperienced users get started more comfortably.

Pros
What really stands out is how responsive the software has been across our company. It works quickly and the user-friendly design makes it simple for everyone to use without much trouble.

“Fits our workflow”
Pros
Our developer team chose it over other options and even as someone non-technical, I was able to get around it and understand how things worked without much trouble. Being able to check when code was deployed is really important and it also does a decent job with bug tracking and helping the team resolve issues.
Cons
There honestly aren't many downsides that come to mind. That said the bug tracking side feels pretty basic and is missing some important features, like built-in screen capture for reporting bugs back to the team.

“a goldmine for developers”
Pros
What I really love about it is how you can find just about any code you need. Most developers share their knowledge freely and Also, they even let others contribute and build on their work which is honestly amazing. It has been a reliable companion for me throughout my studies and later in my job as well. Thank you, Github.
Cons
If I had to suggest anything, it would be stronger protection around the code people share especially when it comes to security. Other than that, you really won't find anything better than it and that's the truth.
