collaboration that boosts teamwork

Pros

Working with it has made team development much more manageable. Its collaboration features really help when building software and keeping source code organized with teammates and outside contributors.

Cons

The enterprise plan is pretty expensive. Aside from that, there really isn't anything else I dislike.

Great app for daily use

Pros

Using this app every day has been a very positive experience because it's simple to use, consistently available and dependable. I haven't run into any problems with it at all.

Cons

What could make it even better would be adding more simple theme customization options to improve the overall user experience.

open source collaboration wins

Pros

Being open source is a big plus and it makes collaborating with other people on the project really simple.

Cons

Pricing is the part I'm not a fan of,the app could definitely cost less or ideally be free.

documentation and feedback win

Pros

Working with this tool has taken a lot of pressure off my day-to-day tasks. It gives me a place to contribute ideas to open source projects and it also makes handling documentation much more manageable. Since I work in a law firm and deal with a heavy amount of documents, it helps me organize, file and keep everything in order much more efficiently. I can also share my work with coworkers and my supervisor, who is an attorney and get feedback right away which has been really valuable.

Cons

My only real concern is security. Anyone with a login can view the materials so I think highly valuable intellectual property is better kept in a separate private and more restricted database. Other than that, the software is excellent.

free tools

Pros

One thing that really stands out is how quick and simple it is to download. That feature has been especially useful and made a strong impression on me.

Cons

I enjoy just about everything about this software since it gives me access to free tools that I can use for my network security project.

impressive community support

Pros

Compared with other file control systems, this one has a much larger community behind it which makes it more valuable to use.

Cons

Getting started on the platform the first time is a bit difficult and the initial approach can feel slightly challenging.

reliable version control for teams

Pros

Having a versioning tool this dependable makes a huge difference. It consistently works well and even if a computer gets damaged or needs to be formatted, all I have to do is open the app again and download the repositories. Handling updates and collaborating with a team is also very simple most of the time.

Cons

The learning curve at the beginning can be tough for a developer. It's not something you fully understand on your own right away and taking a course really helps. Still, once you learn how to use it, it becomes an excellent tool for version control.

Had fun using it

Pros

Pretty much everything about it works for me. It's simple to pick up, guides you well through the whole process and manages to be both genuinely useful for professional work and fun to use at the same time.

Cons

There really isn't much to complain about especially since it does its job so effectively.

helpful version history

Pros

Keeping track of code changes over time is where it really shines. The feature that helps the most is being able to view the full history of changes made to a file which is incredibly useful when debugging. It's also very simple to use and that makes a big difference.

Cons

One thing that could be better is the ability to view a diff for all changed files in a commit at once instead of opening each file individually. I'd also appreciate more detailed branch permission settings so certain users can push to specific branches but not to others.

Great tool

Pros

It makes it much easier to follow code changes from one version to another and that becomes especially useful when several people are contributing to the same project. For team collaboration, this feature is incredibly helpful.

Cons

One limitation is the repository size restriction since files larger than 25 MB can't be pushed.

hosted version everyone uses

Pros

Right from the start, the hosted version has been a really strong option. It's basically what every developer is already using which makes adoption simple. They've also been adding project management features and that's something we may end up using too. The platform is simple to work with and it's clear they actually pay attention to user feedback.

Cons

GitHub Enterprise feels far too expensive for what it is. We were paying over $5,000 when we were only just getting started which was hard to justify. I'd definitely stick with the hosted version instead.

Code sharing is easy

Pros

Sharing and merging code is simple and it also makes maintenance simpler especially when new team members start working with our codebase. Being able to revert a branch whenever something goes wrong is really helpful too.

Cons

The only trouble point has been authentication on Linux machines, aside from that, everything else works well.

Made work easier

Pros

Ever since I switched to GitHub as my remote host for version control, my workflow has gotten dramatically better. It's made it much easier to track my progress and manage changes in a more organized, systematic way.

Cons

Git can definitely have a steep learning curve for some people and I do wish the GUI felt more adaptive.

Change tracking is excellent

Pros

Even without being a developer or working in DevOps, I've used it to follow the updates shared by the custom ROM developers for my smartphone. It lets me check the changes they made, the bugs they fixed, the reports they posted and the full list of updates.

Cons

I honestly don't have much to comment on when it comes to the features they offer.

cloud-based collaboration powerhouse

Pros

GitHub feels like one of the best things to happen after Git itself. It makes sharing code and collaborating with other people really convenient. Since everything is cloud-based, you can upload your repository and pull it up from pretty much any computer.

Cons

There can be a bit of a learning curve when bringing in brand-new users or beginner coders but it's definitely worth it.

open source freedom

Pros

One of the biggest advantages of using it is its open-source ecosystem. Most development tools connect with GitHub out of the box and the best part is that even someone with basic coding knowledge can build a blog or website for free. It's very user-friendly which makes the whole platform feel genuinely impressive.

Cons

I'm very satisfied overall though a few additional add-ons and some UI improvements would make it even better.

secure remote file storage

Pros

Keeping files organized and staying on top of projects is very convenient with this tool. Working remotely is much simpler since there's no need to connect through a VPN and uploading files to a private repository is simple.

Cons

No major problems with it. The only thing was that it took me a few days to get familiar with how everything works.
